The latest play by Sam Mendes, Richard III closed at the Old Vic theater today.

By the way, for me it's still surreal that Sam Mendes is going to direct the next Bond film! It's like a dream come true.

By now the whole art department must be up and running. Do you think they started to build the sets already?
  • Its quite possible. If they intend to film some of the big-set pieces at Pinewood first, before heading abroad, then it seems totally realistic. Especially if its a big, intricate setting. The mind boggles.

Yes, looking at the making of past films, the sets should be near completed now. It does make you think, what's being built? Some Indian or Turkish scenery perhaps.

Next, I hope Daniel Kleinman is back.
I really hope so too. He was one of the few recurring crew members who was able to capture the essence of classic Bond for his contribution. MKII was brought on by Marc Forster for QOS, so perhaps that's just a one off.

It depends if their shooting pinewood first. Then the sets would have just started to be built.
If pinewoods at the end or middle of the shoot then no.

On another Bond forum someone is pretty sure that Stuart Baird (the editor of CR), will edit Bond 23... Did Tariq Anwar drop out? Or will he work together with Baird?

I doubt this. We've had no word from Baird and Tariq has been on board since February, why leave now? If they're working together....well, look what happened last time.

What if he left the project much earlier, in March for example? What if he never was on board, and Mendes just asked him to do it, but EON never approved?

About a possible collaboration between Baird and Anwar: just because hiring two editors didn't work well last time, it doesn't mean two editors can't do a great job working together.

Maybe. Let's wait until we hear more first. I can't see an editor such as Anwar, or any editor, turning down the chance to do a Bond film.

Two editors means you'll have what looks like two different films according to Peter Hunt. I agree. I wouldn't want that again.

A minor update: script supervisor Jayne-Ann Tenggren joined the crew. This is the 5th time she works together with Mendes. (She was the script supervisor for every film by Sam Mendes since 2002.)

Writer John Logan gave a lecture last evening in London. Apparently he was tight lipped about Bond 23. He said: "I can't say anything. If I did Dame Judy Dench would come running in & kill me"

I'm not surprised. It's nice for a change there's so little we know about this film going into production. I think it'll remain this way until that day arrives in a couple of months time.

Thanks for that little find @PanchitoPistoles.

Still nothing on Kleinman then? Maybe as he has a post-production job we won't know for some time yet. I'd have thought he'd at least have been contacted by EON though.
