You may be one of only two people to rank TLD lower than I do.
Yes, probably the film I most differ from the consensus on. Sometimes I think my DVD copy of the film must mistakenly be from the bizzaro world. Either that or I am.

Oh I've taken note of your thoughts on the film across various threads, and agree with you on much. Always glad to see you (entertainingly I might add!) fighting the good fight. ;)

Not a bad list. The picks for 17-24 are almost perfect, just a little out of order (and I’d move TND out and OP in at #17. TND is 16 on my list). Obviously the right choice for #24.

Newest ranking done in tiers (which always seem to change a bit too):

Tier 1: My Top 2 which never seem to change or be in danger. Perfect, 10/10 Bond films, and two all-time favorite films in general for me.
    1. Casino Royale
    2. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

Tier 2: Amazing, classic Bond adventures - all 10 or 9 out of 10 Bond films. These can switch up a little sometimes.
    3. Goldfinger
    4. The Spy Who Loved Me
    5. Skyfall
    6. Dr. No
    7. GoldenEye
    8. From Russia with Love

Tier 3: Very good Bond films. A little lesser than the above tier, but still majorly successful.
    9. Thunderball
    10. Licence to Kill
    11. For Your Eyes Only
    12. Live and Let Die

Tier 4: Just a tad lower than Tier 3. Very good/good Bond films. Just not as commonly rewatched.
    13. Quantum of Solace (might be in Tier 3; it’s debatable)
    14. You Only Live Twice
    15. The Living Daylights

Tier 5: Flawed but mostly fun Bond outings. More problems start to happen here, but not too serious.
    16. Tomorrow Never Dies
    17. Octopussy
    18. A View to a Kill
    19. The World Is Not Enough (any given day this could be Tier 5 or 6, but I’m feeling good about it right now)

Tier 6: Disappointing Bond films that still have good stuff in them. These are the weaker ones, but no total losses.
    20. Spectre
    21. The Man with the Golden Gun
    22. Diamonds Are Forever
    23. Moonraker

Tier 7: Why did this happen? (Ok, it’s not 0/10, but it is the clear-cut worst Bond film to me)
    24. Die Another Day

Here is my rough ranking by relative scores, where I take each Bond element (eg Bond performance, Music, Plot), give it a weighting and a number from 1-5 or 1-10 on a relative scale (ie average of scores is 2.5 or 5). It's still in a crude stage, it's hard to refine a system like this...

Alright, I just finished updating the rankings. It was quite a bit of work as I have so many so statistics and I have to make sure each time that I enter a ranking from a user who I do not have one from yet, that the formulas are also taking their ranking in account. With users who I already have a ranking from, I simply update their ranking with the most recent data which they have entered. I now have one hundred and thirty-seven rankings in the Excel Sheet and a raft of statistics on the data set.

The cumulative ranking now looks like this:

    1.) Casino Royale (4.6058)
    2.) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (5.0588)
3.) From Russia With Love (5.5036)
    4.) Goldfinger (7.5182)
    5.) The Living Daylights (8.4161)
    6.) Dr. No (9.2336)
    7.) Skyfall (9.3358)
8.) The Spy Who Loved Me (9.5839)
    9.) Goldeneye (9.6642)
    10.) Thunderball (10.5620)
    11.) Licence to Kill (11.0657)
12.) For Your Eyes Only (12.1606)
13.) Live and Let Die (13.4161)
    14.) Spectre (13.5620)

It did seem to be hated by everyone. But I think it was just a few very strong vocal posters. Bottom line is that no matter whats said about SP, it isn't viewed as worse than DAD, the very nadir of the series!

    @Birdleson,
    Of course.
As for Spectre, it has been on a fairly steady downward slide since I first began accumulating the rankings last Summer. It was in twelfth one I last posted the cumulative rankings over the Summer and has since fallen off to fourteenth. In the current rankings, it has placed in the top five 18 times, or in 13% of all rankings, which is holding it up somewhat (for comparisons sake, LALD has only been in the top-5 11 times), but it has nonetheless definitely weakening as time passes. If more of the rankings posted shortly after it was released were updated, many of which have not been in a long while, it would probably lose a number of those high placements and would slip further as a consequence.

With that said though, it is not really at the top of the list of films being ranked in the bottom five. It has been ranked in the bottom five a total of 29 times, which is 21% of the total. I will put up those statistics in order to demonstrate this point.

Number of times ranked in the bottom five Percentage of time in the bottom five
    7 5% -DN
    2 1% -FRWL
    2 1% -GF
    15 11% -TB
    23 17% -YOLT
    2 1% -OHMSS
    52 38% -DAF
    16 12% -LALD
    51 37% -TMWTGG
    6 4% -TSWLM
    59 43% -MR
    8 6% -FYEO
    24 18% -OP
    76 55% -AVTAK
    6 4% -TLD
    23 17% -LTK
    10 7% -GE
    45 33% -TND
    59 43% -TWINE
    110 80% -DAD
    2 1% -CR
    45 33% -QOS
    14 10% -SF
    29 21% -SP

So, while it's current position is probably a bit misleading, it also doesn't seem as if those who aren't ranking it highly universally regard it as one of the worst films in the series. It will probably drop further from here, but the vibe that I am getting is that it probably will not end up dropping into the bottom five or six anytime soon.

Thanks for the effort in pulling those stats together @IGotTheMessage. For me, what's interesting is how unsurprising those results actually are. The top 10 is precisely what I expected from a survey of the fanatical faithful.

As I had noted on another thread, it's interesting to me how FYEO/LALD almost inevitably end up together just below the top 10, which I've seen in a couple of member rankings. The bottom 8 are exactly what I expected. I'm reasonably certain SP will join them, in time.

I differ most from the forum on TLD and GF, both which I rank far lower than the average.
