I just saw it, wow I enjoyed it! Everything about it was at least good. Sign me up for a sequel! I would love to see the characters who Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson would bring in a sequel.

What I love about this movie is that it blends Fincher (Zodiac, Se7en) with '70s Scorsese (Taxi Driver) and '70s Coppola (The Conversation), both in terms of content as well as tone.

Although I can see the influence of the two Fincher movies and TAXI DRIVER (especially in the narration), I don't see anything of THE CONVERSATION in this movie.

I think Reeves's starting points -- in addition to those mentioned above -- are Nolan's Batman movies (obviously), BULLITT (the car chase and procedural aspects), DIRTY HARRY (Scorpio Killer), DEATH WISH (the subway opening), THE FRENCH CONNECTION, and possibly even something like FREEBIE AND THE BEAN in the level of mass destruction during the car chase and the way that innocent bystanders are disregarded, even by the ostensible hero.

I was thinking of THE CONVERSATION purely from a pacing point-of-view, I guess. Maybe it isn't the best reference film I could have chosen. ;-) I merely went there because we get tons of slow, silent moments with The Batman / Bruce Wayne trapped in thought and introspective soul-searching. Like Hackman's character, he's doing something in the world but starts to wonder if he's not actually aiding / inspiring the "wrong kind" at the same time. I could be reading too much into the film. ;-)

I got THE CONVERSATION from Bruce watching/listening as Selina is at the club.

All that’s missing is Bruce smashing up his bat cave for bug equipment.

Now THAT would have been an awesome scene!

This film was amazing to watch. It surpassed my expectations and is the best film I've seen in over 3 years. What a triumph. Give me more dark and gritty and detective work with brutal pulverising beatdowns. I still can't get over how perfect his introduction was...slowly walking out of the shadows, theme playing, the sound of his boots...*chef's kiss*

Bats eat bugs, so there should be little chance of bugs in the cave...

I really liked how the sound of him walking matched with the percussive beats of the music at times.

They'll revisit that in the live-theater Musical. Personally, I see a lot of Michael Jackson-esque choreography. If The Who allow it, "Who Are You ?" would be a number, and, you know the big, bold, brief answer right before the curtain falls - "I'm Batman !"

Is that the norm for your area or is that part of AMC and others increasing ticket prices for this film? If that's a new implementation at theaters, my incredibly rare theatrical visits will happen even less often.

Contrary to rumors they do NOT plan on asking for rights to use "Memories" as a number for Catwoman on the rooftops. However, "Stray Cat Strut" would be a good inclusion for an early encounter between Catwoman and the Batman.

I see a semi-comic number for Alfred reflecting on the wide variety of villains, with a line included about "Some of them just want to watch the word burn," while Joker dances by, followed by the line, "While others want to make it freeze" while Mr. Freeze breezes by

You know, I started cracking wise on this and now I'm convincing myself it could be great !

"When it comes to villains," sings Alfred, "there's so much to learn, and none of it with ease. Some just want to watch the world burn, while others want to make it freeze."

    Hey...this is coming together !

This is an AMC theater; two tickets for “Death on the Nile” we’re was just at 35.00, so yes it is a bit more for The Batman.

The last film I saw in theaters was NTTD and that came out to about $17-18 total for two tickets. If I'm spending close to $20 to see a movie once, it better be at home in 4K.

Just saw it last night and overall I liked most of it. Although the first half was much better than the second. Pattinson makes for a great Batman! Was surprised at how much I enjoyed him. Not as much of a fan of his Bruce Wayne, but I don't think we're supposed to be. The character himself even states how he doesn't care about any of that.

It was nice to skip the origin story this time and see an already established Batman but still new enough to have tension with the police. I loved the action, atmosphere and the score. The Fincher comparisons are apt.

I think my biggest complaint was once they revealed the Riddler to be John Denver, I couldn't take him seriously anymore. The ending dragged on and on. The film is just too long. Also, if Catwoman never returns then it feels like a wasted opportunity. They are obviously trying to set things up with the Penguin and you know who at the end. Just a lot to cram into one film. Also, Alfred not dying kind of felt like cheating.

Overall though, a good experience. Definitely on the right track compared to some of the other DC films as of late.

There are moments that remind me of Zimmer and others that remind me of Elfman. Nothing so far sounds like Walker or Goldenthal or Junkie XL or Drake or ...

And rather large portions of John Williams' "Imperial March". And some Barryesque moments, of course.

Back in 2016, after watching the boring and bad mess BATMAN VS SUPERMAN (and the lame and dull MAN OF STEEL in 2013), I originally deciced to boycot SC Comics movies (JOKER is not really DC), but the trailers and reviews made me change my decision, so I will give it a chance and watch it this Thursday.
But all this JUSTICE LEAGE, Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE, SUICIDE SQUAD and now apparently a SUICIDE SQUAD reboot, that's rather weird.

I tried the second Suicide Squad movie a month or two back: I was expecting it to be an improvement on the first but, just like the first, I couldn't get through it. It seems to think the funniest joke in the world is to see someone's head explode, but after you've watched an hour and a half of heads exploding, it gets really old.
Totally fair enough if it worked for other folks, I just felt a bit weary.
