The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) - for the first time. This is truly unique.

It was cool to see Charles Gray in this. Tim Curry is just all-too memorable here.

Great film isn't it,the whole cast look like they are having a blast.

And Tim Curry just takes over every scene he is in !

There seems to be alot of critism because of how the scenes played out, personally I thought it added to the film, I am looking forward to watching it again.

It's a phenomenal audio visual experience but can be a bit disorienting and unclear upon first viewing. I think one really needs to see it twice to take it all in, and to fully appreciate the intersecting timelines over air, water and land.

@bondjames, I loved Mark Felt, but I also felt that it would've been better suited as a Netflix/HBO miniseries. The cast was way too large and impressive for some of those actors to be relegated only a few minutes of screentime - Diane Lane especially, who they said had a lot more screentime before it was cut.

It was quite a frustrating viewing experience for me on account of that @Creasy47. I almost feel like I should have viewed All The President's Men (which I've not seen in decades) either first or right afterwards to get perspective on the entire story, because Mark Felt almost assumes that the viewer is up to speed on all the players and the 'goings on'. Interesting to read that some of Lane's scenes were cut. That makes sense, because some elements just went nowhere (and her story was one of them). Still, it was worth it to see Neeson in action, and the other actors did make the most of their limited screen time even though their characters weren't properly fleshed out.

I've only seen Dunkirk once at the cinema and understood it fully then.

Look forward to another viewing when I get the Blu ray. Dunkirk would come close but Blade Runner 2049 was my film of 2017 and Baby Driver would be no. 3.

Most recently my Wife and I over the last 3 days have been watching Murder On The Orient Express, Death On The Nile and last night Evil Under The Sun.

All good fun and look fantastic in their new Blu ray restorations from Sudio Canal.

    My ranking would be

    1. Murder On The Orient Express (not seen it but can't see Branagh's topping this just for the cast alone)

    2. Death On The Nile

    3. Evil Under The Sun

    DARKEST HOUR
Gary Oldman is incredible in this film and every scene with him is electrifying, however the story kinda lets down this one as nothing really happens for 2 hours, and the drama and tension isn’t earned or high enough to make up. It tries to be like a tense political drama but I think it falls flat in its story telling. However his performance is unparalleled so the film as a whole comes out average

    5/10

I only have 2 films left to see this year
Hostiles and phantom thread, then I’ll put my ranking of the year

    The Dark Knight

Incredible as always. My one issue with the UHD is that the IMAX scenes look much better than the non-IMAX scenes (which I can only assume will be true for TDKR, as well), but goodness, is this a great looking flick in this format. Could've endured two hours of those cityscape shots of Batman standing on rooftops and tall structures and not complained. Very eager to see how TDKR holds up for me this time, after quite a few years. Going to attempt to toss the endless plot holes and inconsistencies aside and just enjoy myself.

@JamesBondKenya, I'm very eager to see those last two you mentioned, as well, and The Darkest Hour whenever I get the chance. I did get to see The Disaster Artist the other day after The Room and I loved it. Franco was on fire throughout and mirrored Wiseau to a T, and if it wasn't for what looks to be an incredibly electrifying performance from Oldman this year, I'd like to think Franco could get the Best Actor award.

You know what, objectively, it's obviously a flawed, terrible movie - the script, the acting, the sets, all of it, that cannot be disputed. But worst movie I've ever seen? Absolutely not. I typically don't buy into the "so bad it's good" category, but honestly, this one did it for me, I'll say. There's something so magically brilliant about what's unfolding on screen - dare I say I'm eager to see it again one day? Once I got 20 or 30 minutes in, it was like watching a live train wreck, but I couldn't tear my eyes away.

Glad you liked it! It is just too funny honestly. It can’t be the worst movie ever if it’s enjoyable.

Exactly. It's objectively one of the poorest made movies ever, but I've seen countless movies that are far worse, or guilty of simply not being fun or remotely enjoyable.

As for TDK, this ridiculous nighttime chase/escape is the one time the film loses me - in terms of a lack of plausibility, this whole bit may take the cake over Silva's escape in SF. The Gotham PD, in the blink of an eye, turns horribly incompetent and blind.

"I didn't sign up for this!"
That's literally what you signed up for, pal!

At least the action in the scene is wonderfully executed and practical.

The Room wins major points because it's amazing to see a film that was intended to be more than a meme generator, which makes it hilarious in an embarrassing way, but most of all it's amazing that it actually happened. Very funny and entertaining, regardless of the fact that most of it likely wasn't intended to be like that.

I don't buy Wiseau's backtracking that it was meant to be a comedy, and genuinely do believe he was attempting to craft something "in the spirit of Tennessee Williams," or however he initially tried to sell it.
I also don’t buy Wiseau saying it was meant to be funny. But it’s all the funnier for it. It’s the ultimate guilty pleasure film. Wiseau’s acting is the absolute best part.

Wiseau's "hehehe's" throughout are gold, as is the tone deafness the whole movie has. I loved the casual conversation Lisa and her mother have about breast cancer - so jarringly bizarre, how cool and carefree they are about it.

The Room is that kind of movie only the filmmaker himself understands. The rest of us are experiencing it on a totally different level. But it's a unique film for sure.

@Creasy47, I don't know enough about Wiseau to say anything for certain, but I will say this: I don't believe for a second that when he was talking about Lisa tearing him apart and saying, "Hi, Mark," he knew he was making comedy gold or future internet memes. I think he was really going for it and trying to be dramatic, and in failing created an amazing entertainment spectacle.

My favorite scene is Johnny’s rant on the roof, “I did not hit her.” There are a ton of great ones to choose from though: throwing the football in tuxedos, “go on, Danny”, Danny confronted about drugs, the flower shop, etc. A treasure trove of comedy.

I watched Dunkirk Twice today one of the best films this year, one scene in the film was astounding cinematic genius, the film resonated with me only a few films have this year.
