    It’s been said recently that along with info on Mads’ character that the plot is based around Operation Paperclip, which places this movie in the 60’s.

    Absolutely, I think we will see
    a WW2 opening (as per the images we have seen so far in the media) which is set near the end of the war and shows the German rocket research and then the film jumps to 15 or years later, early sixties and, as you say, Operation Paperclip. I think it's great to pay-off the Nazi threat and their agenda from Raiders.

    Doesn’t seem to be an ingot to me: it looks to be hexagonal. Presumably it’s some artefact key to the plot.

    I like the idea of something the nazis hid at the end of the war like those looted gold trains but what would be the supernatural element.

    I haven’t read spoilers on this thread, but I did watch great YouTube show with three guys in industry discussing Raiders 40th anniversary and all things Indiana Jones… and they did mention something on the train from photos taken on set of Indy 5(half way through, it’s long)

    Another great one is visual FX artists using open source software to "fix" dodgy stop motion in older films.

    I love the ED 209 stop motion jerkiness. It makes it seem really threatening.

    Back to Indy, I'm very excited about the new film. What we know about the story and the cast sounds really good.

    I am sick to death of people looking at classic movie characters whether male or female? And saying their is something sinister about them. Makes me so bloody angry!

    Not sure where that came from! :D If you're referring to Marion being underage when her and Indy were first together... well that's always sounded dodgy- it's nothing new! I've always personally just ignored that, I have no idea why they included that in the film.

    Anyway, interesting thing from Mangold today:


    So it sounds like they weren't developing the Koepp script: they abandoned it and started afresh.

    Good point. The whole film could be an elaborate cover for the re-emergence of the Reich. And they've chosen to start their campaign in Northumberland.

    Well as he said, he doesn't mind people griping but them saying things which are just false (like who has written the script) should be corrected. The ageism stuff is also a bit tired too.

    It proves in a way that he cares about his fans. Vin Diesel asks what the fans want in the next F & F movies and they often end up in the movies. And are often liked. Lucasfilm, EON, DC and even Marvel Studios could do this once in a while. Instead of listening to Kathleen Kennedy, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Barbara Broccoli, Zack Snyder, Ray Fisher, and Kevin Feige. Sometimes, even the fans can be right.

    Kathleen Kennedy has made all of the previous Indiana Jones movies and those are often liked.

    She didn’t have the power she does now. JJ Abrams was no help, either. Believe it or not, I liked his Star Wars movies.

    Yeah, there will be no end to negativity on twitter, so it's both pointless and at that same time you do want to defend your lead, correct errors, and not be sheepish. The most important thing is that he channels his anger into making a great movie to prove these people wrong.

    Upon reflection, there WOULD be a negative aspect of Indy 5 and Black Adam coming out the same weekend ---- I'd like to see BOTH at an IMAX theater !

    It's hours later and James Mangold is still replying to miserable people on twitter with a few dozen followers. I like him, but I wish someone close to him would tell him to stop paying attention to what a couple of people on twitter say.

    I think it was to give Indy a dark streak, to show he wasn’t exactly a totally good guy. Sort of like Bond, though we’ve never heard of him going after jail bait.

    In recorded discussions between the filmmakers, Marion would have originally been 12 years old and Indy was of college age. Ewwww.
