Sasha Calle would be my pick to reprise her role as Kara, alas Gunn wants to recast everyone.. kind off.

Everyone except his wife Jennifer Holland,John Cena as Peacemaker, and Viola Davis as Waller

    Exactly.

He casts his friends and family in everything which is not a bad thing necessarily but of course everything from the DCEU gets rebooted except for the stuff he worked on.

I wanted Cavill to continue as Superman, though I do get starting with a clean slate and it is probably wise. Though my idea of a clean slate is to do it right across the board.

Saying that Gunn is a good writer and world builder so I am positive about the DCU, I was sceptical at first admittedly.

I wonder if they keep rebooting batman and superman so they can keep reusing certain villains

I mean imagine if Bond just kept reusing Goldfinger Blofeld and Trevellyan

Blofeld is probably not the best example though i get your point. re using the same villains is playing it safe and can become a bit stale if the writing is not good enough to warrant it.

They reboot those superheroes because the characters are already known by the audience. So it makes sense--from the corporate viewpoint--to also reboot the same old villains. The goal is to present characters the audience already knows.

Yep, it often goes back to the writing material. Ironically, I could see EON bringing back all three villains that you mentioned.

I think moving beyond Lex and Zod is the best thing for Superman right now, in terms of villains.

    From Variety:

About a decade ago, Zack Snyder developed a storyline for the DC Extended Universe that involved Bruce Wayne impregnating Lois Lane.

The subplot in which Batman cuckolds Superman was poised to unfold in “Justice League,” with Batman dying in the sequel and Lois raising their spawn with Superman. Snyder’s vision for Wonder Woman was equally unorthodox, with visuals featuring a superheroine who brandished the decapitated heads of her conquered enemies like an ISIS jihadi.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios — which hold a firm grip on their intellectual property — rejected Snyder’s ideas, which were deemed “super creepy,” according to a source familiar with the back and forth. (DC declined to comment for this story. A representative for Snyder did not respond to a request for comment.) But in the next decade, artists and rival studios won’t need permission to create their own take on the characters.

A sad fact of Hollywood is that while superheroes never truly die, all copyrights do. On Jan. 1, Disney lost control of “Steamboat Willie,” and within 24 hours two horror-comedies starring Mickey Mouse were announced. The DC characters are the next major expirations looming on the horizon. Superman and Lois Lane will enter the public domain in 2034, followed by Batman in 2035, the Joker in 2036 and Wonder Woman in 2037...Movie producers will also be able to make their own versions — much as they already do with public domain characters like Dracula and Robin Hood — though in the beginning they will have to stick to the original versions of the characters...

WB really should have thought more carefully about hiring Zack Snyder. They should have realized how polarizing he is. I know that Christopher Nolan probably had a say, but they should have been more respectful of the material, if they really wanted a long running cinematic universe.

Is Zack Snyder a fan of Michael Bay’s PEARL HARBOR? Because that whole thing about Lois carrying Bruce Wayne’s baby, Supes coming back from the dead, Batman dying in the climax, and Superman deciding to raise Batman’s son with Lois is the EXACT same story from PEARL HARBOR.

When does Batman die or does Superman raise Batman's son with Lois in Snyder's films? I am very confused now.

It was from a draft script of Justice League 2, which was apparently gonna loosely adapt the Injustice storyline.

I see. I had heard about Snyder trying to move more in the direction of New Gods, but I didn't know about this. Very cool information!
  • Seems a bit too much like “fan-fiction” so I’m glad we didn’t see any of that stuff in any form. Much as I may enjoy Snyder’s DC movies.

It was Snyder’s story idea, which WB (rightfully) shot down.

Snyder talks about it in this video.

Thanks! Very interesting. Looks like we escaped some big soap drama nonsense there...

To be honest, a horror Batman film COULD work if done well, like, from a criminal's perspective, for example.

Great examples of horror Batman exist in the comics. I am all for film experiments in that direction.

As I said previous Milly was good in House of the Dragon, I think Milly will do a good job.
