Lots of NTTD on here. I'm very surprised by that

I imagine the rankings may change the "older" NTTD gets and the honeymoon phase starts to wind down. I'm hoping it stays (or lurks near) my Top 10 regardless.

It was difficult for me because I wanted to include Skyfall.
But it is interesting and nice to see NTTD making the list from time to time.
    Top 5 is very strict, @chrisisall. ;)

No Time To Die is seen Not From Time To Time but rather chosen Most Of The Time. :P It's one of the most frequent choices here. And this despite the fact it shouldn't have been made... ;)

The last time I loved a Bond film more and more with each re-watch, was Skyfall... Similarly, NTTD is following the same path.

By the time I was this far in with Spectre, my honeymoon glow had turned into an embarrassingly sickly green.

For me, NTTD will be bubbling to the top, joining my favorites, for a very long time to come.
  • Top 5 for me for now
    Casino Royale

Even after my eighth viewing I would have told you that it's likely CR and NTTD will flip-flop for that #1 spot, but one more viewing later and now I can't even see that happening any time soon.

I'm still shocked that I find myself gravitating towards ranking NTTD as my second of the era. Granted, I've only seen it twice in theaters (and have a couple weeks left until the 4K drops) so that could all change, but I'm pretty shocked still by just how much I loved this one.

NTTD has been staying between 7-10 for me. Going to be difficult for it to go higher, but I also don’t see it dropping too far past 10.

Nice @Scaramanga1974 … we have the same 5… just in a different order…

I wouldn’t take my word for anything because I change my mind on this literally all the time, the Dalton films being top is the only real constant, but off the top of my head

    1) Licence To Kill
    2) The Living Daylights
    3) No Time to Die
    4) Goldeneye
    5) OHMSS

But just picking five was really hard and rules are made to be broken, so I have to give honourable mentions to Spectre, The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldfinger, Skyfall, Octopussy, From Russia With Love and The World Is Not Enough.

Anyone else find ranking the films harder and harder as they get older? I used to try it when I first joined here, but I gave up when I realised how often my list was dramatically changing, because I was constantly finding stuff to enjoy in almost every one I rewatched. Maybe I’m just an easily pleased fanboy.

Preaching to the choir old boy! FRWL is my eternal No. 1, yet what comes after it is increasingly hard to decide. What I love about this series, is there is a Bond epic, what ever your mood. And that's borne out in peoples top 5's.

Maybe it would be interesting of someone kept count how many times each film gets mentioned…

Just a suggestion of course ;)

I am surprised by my list, SF and NTTD should be on it. Why only 5? This is insane!

Yes it makes things really difficult :))

My choice of LALD might seem an odd choice to some but seriously if the house was on fire and I could only grab five Bond films then LALD would be in that grab because I know I would watch it a lot. DAF and MR too.

This is an interesting and thought-provoking thread.

I'm actually compiling a "mention" count. After "page 1" FRWL is in the lead, with strong showings by OHMSS, CR, TLD and DN.

I almost went with LIVE AND LET DIE in that last spot, and I would have if the question was if we could only keep five, having the need for one Roger to watch would give LALD the edge over DN. But if we are talking our five absolute favorites, DN sneaks through.

There should be some clarity so that we have standardization between groups (ie. you can only take 5 films to a desert island forever VS your top 5 ranked)

Updated count of "Mentions" (these include @DrunkIrishPoet and @Birdleson plus one minor correction from my earlier tally) with ten or more:
    1. OHMSS 29
    2. CR 29
    3. FRWL 28
    4. TLD 19
    5. DN 16
    6. GE 13
    7. NTTD 13
    8. GF 11
    9. LTK 11
    10. SF 11

Interestingly, the highest Moore film (TSWLM) just has 8 mentions.

Awesome statistics @Dwayne. I ranked TSWLM as #5 for some years and it is still in my top 7.

If we do eventually have one of these based solely on “Desert Island” picks, then I think we should definitely expand it to six in order to at least give people the opportunity to take one of each Bond with them. Unless it’s meant to be that cutthroat intentionally. Even at six, mine would probably be limited to four different Bonds.

Nice stats. Spy was so close for me, but alas, it didn't have enough gusto to break into my Top 5.

I must say again dear @Birdleson, that is an excellent Top 5. If you switched GF with TB, we'd have the same 5. (GF placed #6 on mine)
