I don't hate Craig at all, in fact I'm growing to him more and more. BUT he was much better served in CR - a film which was competently put together and came with a decent, more rounded, more complete script.

I really don't like this whole "(insert name) is the second coming" mentality though. As I recall the same thing happened with Brosnan.

Why? I have seen much worse on here - this was actually almost a decent discussion with bringing out different views...nothing wrong with that IMO. And not even off topic :)

Who hates Craig? Whoever they are they can go urinate up a rope then hang themselves with it. ....

Firstly the haters were in the minority even pre-CR. I like many had seen Craig in a few things and understood where the producers were coming from when he was hired.

Secondly please accept that everyone has a right to an opinion on here so less of the unnecessary comments.

Do they really think so little of us? And if they do, does it matter? And if it matters do they have such soaring intellects on their own forums that they put us to shame?

Or in truth are we all just Bond geeks indulging our passion for all things 007, no matter where we go to spout our stuff?

People really get silly when it comes to Bond. Some comments made on this thread prove that.

People get silly when they meet someone with radically different views on Bond... Anyone who has Moore or Brosnan at the bottom of their ranking will almost ridiculize you for having either of them high up. It seems some opinions are not allowed on this forums...

It's a fact that I've had a positive opinion of Craig since before CR.

I dislike Craig as Bond. I mean, I don't think much of him as an actor, and find him a worse Bond. That's just my opinion, i'm not speaking for anyone else.

Now that's just class. Maybe fit a few f-bombs in there, for the full Dan Craig effect.

I'm not sure there is much hate for Craig, he's not my favrouite but I will still watch the films and have no desire to see him flop or fall flat on his face, surely the Bond films are the one series where a change in lead actor is most accepted, it happens every ten years or so, when the next guy takes over he's going to be a new favrouite with some and not with others!

    Agreed.

I try not to keep favourites with the Bond actors. Obviously a lot of us are going to have a soft spot for Connery because he's the original (and let's face it, 60's Bond was gold), but I prefer to look at the Bond actors as the best representation of their generation. So really, none of them should sit at the bottom of my list (or the top for that matter). As actors, I respect them all equally. As Bond, they all hold a shard of his overall persona, so there should be something to like about all of them. Hate is a pretty strong word to throw around as loosely as some do. Can people really admit they hate Craig (or whoever)?

That's just it. None of the actors (imo) are particularly bad. They all are fit for their respectable eras. I, for one, couldn't take anyone over Moore in the 70's as well as I can't see anyone else in the role as it is now.

So far DC did not convince me in any of his two movies which has less to do with him but more with the movies themselves.

He is a decent enough actor, but like TD he is not my cup of 007.

And I do not hate him, I actually hope that with Bond23 he gets his swansong, and then buggers off.

There isn't a worst Bond. My least favourite is Brosnan, but that doesn't make him the worst. Many fans would do anything just to see him.

I must confess I do admire Craig for telling us how he really feels about QoS.

Following DC in the role is going to be up right there as far as herculean tasks go with coming after Connery or in football terms, following Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United (nice link there as Sir Sean was offered a contract at Old Trafford but rejected it to pursue his acting career which worked out quite well!)
  • I'll admit I was skeptical when I first saw him as Bond, for all and any reasons I've mentioned previous, but the man has grown on me since then

The man does indeed possess some Fleming-like characteristics in his performances and it is a damn improvement on Brosnan, from a DAD standpoint at least, I wasn't happy at first with his hair color (yeah, we've been through this, but in any event), and overall physique, but I am content for now to let him continue his Bond run and I'm quietly confident that Skyfall will be a genuine success even though there are certain aspects hitherto I wasn't happy with, but beggars can't be choosers

Maybe we'll get a lighter, more humorous Bond after Craig's done. Something like Moore's Bond. Though I admit, I do find it more exciting with Bond looking and acting like a cold bugger.

I was quite the sceptic when Craig was announced, even though I've seen him in Layer Cake. What won me over was CR, only that nothing else. QOS added to that with Craig being the best thing about it. Fairly happy with him so far, but I can see not everybody is, which is ok for me.

Wow, I was out a few days, I come back and I find my beloved forum once more engulfed in an interstellar war, fought by people who can't accept others doing what they themselves do best. Needless to point out what and whom I'm referring to.

    So,
    Why the hate on Craig?

Because that's what you get in a world where no two people are the same and where millions can easily express their opinion, based on taste. Whether thought through, intentionally provocative or ignorant, opinions are opinions - period. Opinions are neither wrong nor right and this is what some of our members just fail to understand.

Some of our members urgently need to be educated in the arts of debate. But I'm not naive enough to think that we're not infected with forum hooligans, the kind of people who drop by only to bully things up. Some of our members - and we very well know who - do indeed formulate their opinions with the sole intention to provoke. They walk a thin line between what is acceptable and what isn't, hoping that others will be foolish enough to fall into their devious traps. Well, I've had enough of this.

The HQ is a respectable and respected forum, no matter what some here seem to think. But of course we are kind enough to allow certain members to ruin pretty much every thread with their boring rehash of the same dull arguments and their pointless bickering. These broken records annoy us all.

For once and for all, grow up! We've all read your thoughts a gazillion times in other threads and the more you repeat them, the more you come off as one-note, borderline pathetic. So, no need to state them over and over and over again... you'll send us to snoreville eventually.

Please consider the meaning of the word 'opinion'. It means neither fact, nor truth, nor anything else that's somewhat absolute. It means what you, as an individual, hold valid. We always respect someone's opinion, provided of course that this someone doesn't force it upon others. Those who continue to make this mistake practically every day will know I'm addressing them. And if they don't, it's an even bigger sign of their ignorance.

Return to quality debate or leave. Please, if you have nothing more to say than what you've said a thousand times before, if you're only good at ruining threads after two of your posts, leave. Go somewhere else. This is not your playground. The HQ doesn't want you.

If i knew that this topic would bring out an almost "fighting" discussion i wouldn't create it...
And all i wanted to know is, why there are peoples that speaks what they don't know? Why does they hate Craig if he is doing a great job? Why does the people don't want to inform themselves to then start talking?
I guess i've already had my answer, but seems that the discussion itself is going longer.

It is not hate. it is a simple preference for one actor or another. Nobody has stated that DC is crap, but a bunch of looneys that gave them man a great amount of free publicity. EON couldn't have done it better or cheaper.

I am not convinced by DC but his movies have failed him more than, he did fail to perform.

I find him like TD not my cup of tea. But like DC better than TD easily.

Is he doing a great job? Well he is keeping the franchise alive for the next actor, which is good too.

No worries X3MSonicX, a little healthy heated discussion is sometimes good, and you raise an interesting topic. But I think maybe the way you posed the question was a little strong, with 'hate'....them is fightin' words! ;-)

But by all means, your voice is appreciated!
