Apparently not. Seizure #4 followed today, Wednesday 13 December at 5:30 CST. Yawn. I'm so freaking tired of this crap.

So sorry to hear about all of this. Words seem a relatively small thing, but you know that many of us would give anything we could to help alleviate your discomfort and pain. If you ever want to talk we can exchange numbers through messages either here or on Facebook. I hope that you can still get a chance to watch some Bond and take your mind away for a spell.

Oh, don't worry. I will. My parents keep telling me that perhaps it's just a matter of switching medications. I have an appointment with someone who specializes in epilepsy on January 8. I will keep you all updated on that day.

Please take comfort in the following:

    1) Seizures aren't life threatening.
    2) They do not affect life expectancy.
    3) Brain damage isn't possible either.

So, while it may be scary for you - and it definitely is frightening for me - there is absolutely nothing to be worried about in the long run. A minor headache is there. Sure. That's to be expected, as I have heard that's quite normal. I assure you that after a good night's rest, I will be in top notch shape!

Again, please don't worry for me! That's the last thing I want.

    Regards,
    Justin Litke

Ay listen mate, your predicimant sucks, and I hope you find the balance you are looking for, but you gotta remember, this life is quite possibly all that we got and once your doctor sorts out your meds and the seizures are at a minimum, itll work it self out. Its an obstacle that can and will be passed.
    All th Best.
  • My thoughts are with ya, Justin. I can't imagine living through what you are. Take comfort in the good things in life and keep hoping for the best.

All the best @PropertyOfALady - I've learnt a lot from this thread and I'm glad you have what sounds like a supportive and caring family. It must be frustrating, scary and challenging to be enduring these seizures. It's a pleasure having you on this forum and I'm glad it's a source of respite and enjoyment for you. 'Kia Kaha' as we say in this part of the world (roughly translated - 'stay strong')

Alright. Here's what we now know.

The seizures seem to be coming from the rear of my brain, where vision is housed, which explains why I see things immediately before one.

What's also back there is my shunt. The working theory is too much scar tissue. Now it's just a matter of finding the right dosage of pills.

Also, I was told of a patient that recites lines of Harry Potter to keep hers at bay. And another whose seizures were triggered by his father's neckties.

@PropertyOfALady, it'd be great if you could find some words to hold the seizures at bay too, maybe Bond related. Like the last lines of Tennyson's Ulysses, for instance. A nice rhythm to the poem, something to keep you relaxed, etc.

    It might work!
  • That would be pretty epic actually if you could fight your seizures with a Tennyson poem. It's worth a shot at least!

The words would also be applicable.

"strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

What I meant was that I don't think I'd heard about that particular one.

Last night 14 May I had another. 5 months and a day, and I was doing so well. Back to this crap again?

    Ugh.

You can endure, Property. We all get our crosses to bear. Good on you that you get through it all, but I do wish you health and improvement.

Sorry to hear it. But longer gaps have to be a plus, no?

Oh, definitely. 5 months this time as compared to two all the others. I'm sure this will result in a higher dose of Keppra, but all I want is for them to stop! I don't care what they have to do.
