Bond 25 Wishlist

Sory if there's a thread already. I couldn't find one apart from the old Bond 24/Spectre one. Anyway I've seen lots of cool ideas and thoughtful comments about where people think the series should go over in the production timeline thread, so I thought it'd be fun to have a thread devoted to that and list some of the stuff we all want in the next one. I'll start

If Craig returns, have him in the DB5 but don't make a massive deal out of it. If it's a new Bond then no Aston Martin at all please. I wouldn't want a spy car in general actually since we only just had the DB10. Instead I'd like to see him drive a vintage Bentley or Jag.

Also, I've been saying this for years but I'd love a Bond bike instead of a Bond car. A Bonneville (decked out by Q) would be perfect for Bond.

Better world building is a must imo. The Craig era is simultaneously the most continuity heavy and has the biggest disconnect between films (with the exception of SF and SP). The MI6 office is changing all the time. Supporting characters disappear or are replaced (Villiers to Tanner). Plot threads are dropped. MI6 seem to be constantly changing their mind about whether they do gadgets or not. I don't want a big story arc or a bunch of films pre planned in advance but just more continuity with the little details (Bond's car, set design, etc) and a general idea of where to go in tone would be nice.

As well as not having an Aston if Craig is gone, I'd ditch Tom Ford and Omega too. I want the next Bond to feel different, like they did to with Moore to differentiate him from Connery.

Stop messing with the gunbarrel. Please. It can't possibly be that hard to get it right.

If Craig returns bring back Blofeld acting solo. If it's a new era then give him and SPECTRE a rest for a while.

A new composer.

Fresh locations we haven't seen in a Bond film before. Lets stay away from the likes of France and Italy.

More diversity. Bond goes all over the world and yet seems to interact almost entirely with white europeans and americans. The Craig era seems to think the answer to this is to just make a couple of the recurring characters black when that's actually entirely unnecessary. Just show us the different cultures of these places, have villains and Bond girls of different ethnicities, etc.

No hacking. And I don't buy the argument that it's unavoidable in a modern context either. Goldeneye showed that you can have technology play a major role in the plot while still keeping it exciting. Loved Spectre and appreciate that they sidelined the Nine Eyes plot in favour of the more personal Bond/Blofeld conflict but Q thwarting the villains plan by hammering away at a laptop is just lazy and unexcusable.

An action scene involving a wingsuit. I want to see great record breaking ariel stuntwork that surprasses what we saw in MR. In fact just pushing the boat out in terms of stunts in general would be cool. The last really good one was the crane jump over a decade ago.

A cast of villains on par with LALD.

A plot as original and inventive as OP and TWINE.

Whoever did the "title sequence" at the end of Wonder Woman, get them for Bond.

    No Daniel Craig.

I would so much wish for a James Bond that actually enjoys his life.
And, by the way I would take the "plot as original and inventive as OP and TWINE" part anytime and twice on Sunday!

    Waltz and Seydoux to return.
and either have David Arnold or someone new (Who can actually compose good music.) to do the score.

    Yes to Craig.
Yes to Waltz, only if the script will actually have him wake-up and act.
Kinda to Seydoux: Bond dumps her, she dumps him, or; she follows a tragic path and is blown away by a staged attack by SP (although, of course, Blofeld would have known she would be in the target spot). But if she's back, get rid of her fast.
And flipping damn right and YES to Arnold. The guy gets Bond and the legacy.. He's the best since Barry. Period.

Bring Waltz and the supporting cast back.

    No mention of Madeleine.

Have Spectre as the main villains again but don't connect it to anything either than mention of Blofeld's escape, or show it in the PTS. Just have them have a new evil plan, preferably with the highest stakes of the Craig era.

    Bring back Felix.

Lots of fist fighting and another great 1x1 fight.

A main Bond Girl. Needs to be said post SF.

I have mixed feelings about Craig coming back. If he does give his tenure another real "ending" like they tried to do with SP. The continuity between his films sort of makes it appropriate to give his final film a sense of climax.

Frankly I think Seydoux and Waltz are a package deal. If you bring him back without her, the thread is lost...

If they are looking for someone new to do the title credits, look no further than this:

Bond 25 will be a very special film in the franchise history, I'm certain. Whenever they need to right the course, they always deliver, it's the one thing you can count on EON to get right. Out of 6 fresh starts, there has never been a less than stellar first outing for any Bond actor. Each of the actors first attempts belong on any top ten list, I'm sure we can agree. That being said, as far as a wish list goes, let me think...

    1. Standalone mission based film

    2. under 126 minutes runtime

    3. Martin Campbell directs

    4. Aidan Turner as Bond

    5. No more than 3 action scenes

    6. A traditional M, Q and Moneypenny scene

    7. No Romance or falling in love subplot

    8. Limited gadgets

    9. Bond has sex with at least two different women

    10. Bond girl who isn't a match for Bond

    11. PTS without Bond, focused on main villian, kinda like TDK.

    12. Actual vibrant colours, and no wacky filters

    13. Humour where appropriate, no forced one liners or wordplay.

    14. Bond gets the girl in the end

    15. Tribute to Sir Roger Moore

Yeah the only actors debuts I have in my top ten are OHMSS (can we even count that as a first since it's the only one he did?), TLD and GE. I think more often than not it takes them a film or two to really find their footing.

    1. Standalone mission based film

    Yes.
    2. under 126 minutes runtime

Seems arbitrary. If it's what the story calls for, sure.
    3. Martin Campbell directs

    Yes.
    4. Aidan Turner as Bond

If Craig doesn't return and there's no one better, ok.
    5. No more than 3 action scenes

I think every Bond in my Top 10 has more than 3 action scenes, so definitely no.
    6. A traditional M, Q and Moneypenny scene

    Yes.
    7. No Romance or falling in love subplot

If the story justifies it, I'm game. But nothing on the level of OHMSS or CR.
    8. Limited gadgets

Meh, gadgets are fun when done right. Just come up with clever gadgets and use them well.
    9. Bond has sex with at least two different women

    Yes.
    10. Bond girl who isn't a match for Bond

As with the gadgets, doesn't matter to me as long as she's a great character and well acted.
    11. PTS without Bond, focused on main villian, kinda like TDK.

That could be a refreshing change.
    12. Actual vibrant colours, and no wacky filters

    Yes.
    13. Humour where appropriate, no forced one liners or wordplay.

    Yes.
    14. Bond gets the girl in the end

If the story calls for it, yes.
    15. Tribute to Sir Roger Moore

    Would be lovely.

A tribute to Moore is a must imo. I think they'll at the very least dedicate the film to him like they did Cubby. Some sort of nod in memory of Ken Adams would also be nice but I'm doubtful that'll happen since they didn't really do anything for John Barry in SF.

My absolute dream for the bond series is to see them faithfully adapt all the novels in order set in the 50's with michael fassbender made on a budget of maybe 130 million and R rated(15) because thats what the books are. They can add maybe some plot twists like CR and some more action if they need to spice up the book but for the most part it would be the same as the book. And then fire out a new film every two years

That would be the death knell of the series, I'm afraid. The mass appeal of the film series is that it always stays contemporary (even at the expense of continuity).

    The two aren't mutually exclusive.

At some point in time when technology really takes over, retro Bond is a natural remedy that audiences likely will love.

You want the audience to cheer at the end? You want people to shout, "DAMN!" Try this happy ending on for size:

Both Bond Girls survive and neither one is evil. After the killing is done and the world is safe, our heroic trio find themselves marooned on let's say a luxury yacht. They have champagne. They have satin sheets....
"Well," says James Bond. "Here we are."
    "Yes," agrees Bond Girl #1.
"Here we are," says Bond Girl #2.
Bond goes to the stateroom door. He looks directly into the camera and gives us one of those smug little Daniel Craig smirks we all know and love. He shuts the door in our face. Cue music.
The crowd goes wild. Someone shouts, "DAAAMMN!!"
    JAMES BOND WILL COME AGAIN!

Why not? After all, the character has always been a fantasy wish-fulfillment figure, with a voracious sexual appetite the rest of us can only dream about. Why not imply a three-way for him? How kinky is he, anyway? This maintains the formula, but kicks it up a notch.

This is how Moore's last film should have ended. Genuinely surprised that Bond hasn't had a three way before now to be honest.

I was always under the impression that he made good use of the two gypsy girls in the camp, way back in FRWL. But that just might be me.
