    They might have, but given the size of the universe I doubt it as much as I doubt we shall ever encounter aliens. Though by the same token, I do suppose there are aliens somewhere out there. If the universe is infinite, there are infinite possibilities to provide for some form of life...just not in a close vicinity to earth, but probably an infinite amount of light years away. I abstained from calling it "intelligent" life form, because I don't think life on earth qualifies for that, either.
