I will contribute later and a lot.
GE is THE film of my youth, was 20 in summer of 1995 and all I cared for was the army, shagging, GoldenEye and Bond in general and my Batman comics.
Those were the times!

It's THE perfect movie, the epitome of a Bond film!
Everything was perfect and worked extremely well.
The combination of Tina Turner's theme and opening a new golden era for Bond was fantastic.
I was amazed there wasnt one.....i must have missed it in the small time scale i had to transfer threads from the old site to this one...!!

One of my favourites too : "I am INVINCIBLE !!" haha.
I still enjoy watching it fairly regularly and can recite virtually all the dialogue on command. It's got a lot of great aspects to it: terrific supporting cast (far better than LTK), terrific action and some great lines of dialogue well delivered ("because if I want sarcasm Mr Tanner I'll talk to my children thank you very much", the whole Kossack story delivered by Robbie Coltrane, "do you destroy every vehicle you get into?").
There are some patchy aspects to the film though. Alec is an underwritten character and the whole backstory is flimsy at best. Campbell's direction lacks the polish he would later show so beautifully in CR, as he is still transferring from his tv drama days and, Brosnan - though well-intentioned - is rather hit-and-miss in his debut.
A fun film, something of an old favourite, but admittedly not without its flaws.
It's like an updated disco barrel from Sir Roger's FYEO...i love it...

Practically flawless so far.
I can't tell you how impressed I was with it after watching it for the first time on opening night. I was literally on cloud nine and it's all I could think about for days afterwards. Bond was back with a bang! Everything came together so brilliantly, and the teaser was absolutely superb as well. I also love the GB (along with FYEO's & LTK's).
Even today, after all these years, I still think it's superior effort, and it remains one of the Bond films I most look forward to putting in the player. It's a damn shame that it was the high water mark of the Brosnan era, which started off so promisingly but then failed to live up to expectations set by this film (imho).
Yes, GE was already the high water mark of the Brosnan era.
The same must be said of the Craig era, the Dalton era and maybe even the Connery era.
It seems to be a pattern that the first is generally the best. The big exception here is of course Moore.
In fact, the Brosnan era and the Craig era are somewhat similar.
TND didn't live up entirely to expectations and was a bit on the heavy action side.
The same is true for QOS.
TWINE was maybe a step up for some because of the drama and seriousness in the story.
Again the same goes for SF which is nothing more than a remake or rip off of TWINE.
While SP certainly is better than DAD, both were highly successful and generally loved. You don't get a 850 million BO if the movie has failed the audience.
Still, both seem to be one step too far for the fans of TWINE/SF. They expected something more serious and dramatic again.
Also both are probably the end to an era, which is my prediction.
In 10 years and certainly in 15 the Craig-era will be viewed not very differently than the Brosnan-era. The only movie that is generally loved will remain Casino Royale as is Goldeneye.
