I think it could also be something to do with the interior sets in a lot of those films Either that or the way that they are lit. They just feel a bit..well cheap.

Fair play ,but i feel AVTAK and especially OP and TLD don't give me that impression.
But thats what makes us all unique, our opinions on Bond !

I think AVTAK is probably the worst out of Glen's films in terms of lazy editing.

Cinematography-wise its not too bad, but there's a few too many moments that give it a television-vibe IMO - possibly down to its locations and the way its constructed. @bondjames mentioned this in his review a few days ago (scenes like the mayor's office in San Francisco and at the harbour). I think its a reoccurring thing through Glen's films.

Thats a fair point...it does have its moments ,compared to OP and TLD ..

Loving all the negativity <:-P Why did they ever hire Alan Hume as cinematographer ?

Just popped in FYEO myself... Just so I could watch the Citreon chase! One of the biggest highlights of the film. Moore is great throughout, fantastic stunts and lots of cool camerawork.

Also the scene afterwards with Tanner and Freddy Grey always makes me laugh. "Why don't you try the Identigraph?" "Mmmm!" "Well, get cracking 007!!!" "Mmm!"

I just watched FYEO too. While I like many Bond films better, it's always been a sentimental favorite because when it first came out and I watched it, I was about 22, and it was the first time I really "got" how cool Bond films were, I found the movie gripping, and I still find it fun. We've discussed its many "problems". This time around, a few things I noticed: at the end of the ski and bobsled chase, Bond seems almost afraid of Erich Kriegler, even though his rifle is bent, and Bond races off down the hill. While Ferrara was sitting in the Lotus, why wasn't he more mindful of his surroundings to prevent his own death? At Kristatos' warehouse, when Bond punches a thug, the sound effect is like a small explosive is going off. After that, Bond's kick helps Locque's car plunge off the cliff, and then Columbo and his men are right there with Bond--how did they get up the hill so fast! I guess they drove.

But one of the payoff scenes for me is the climbing sequence, where Bond's life is hanging by a thread, or a rope. I also liked Bond's encounter with Gogol, "detente" being smart, rather than things blowing up at the end, though that's sometimes seems necessary, especially in a Bond film. I also noticed the bit part of the actor with the gun at St. Cyril's who's about to pop Melina and Columbo's men as they come up in the basket--Andy Bradford, who also had a part as Ferguson in Smiley's People, partly by riding a motorcycle to shadow Smiley.

How many times you watch the same movies? I see a lot of same faces here. Me? Haven't watched a single Bond movie this year.

Might start with the much talked about Spectre, which seems to have disappointed a lot of you. Last time I checked I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Must check that one soon, if things might've changed.

I got a box set for Christmas, so I've watched more Bond in the last three months than...over the previous five years, probably.

I tend to crank the volume a bit once the 'Live And Let Die' title song comes on. I also love to destroy my hearing anytime QoS starts off by cranking the volume real high during the PTS. It demands to be enjoyed at a high volume just once.

As he walks into the casino in his tuxedo,Pierce does look lightweight compared to Connery/Moore/Lazenby and Craig but definately walks with style compared to Dalton, who walks like he has a stick up his arse..(nerves again IMO)

There's definitely more of a glossiness in those opening casino scenes that had been missing for a while.

Spot on .....this film just looks class alongside the Dalton films, and so much more Bondlike...Martin Campbell's direction here is so good, bettered with CR ..BOND25 could do a lot worse than bring him back to complete his trilogy of GE,CR & BOND25..

Michael Kitchen is brilliant as Tanner as well,i might add...the best Tanner ever...not used enough.

"seems your hunch was right 007, it's too bad the evil queen of numbers wouldn't let you play it"

Hahaha yep...and Bond coughs and Tanner winces....brilliant...the cast in GE is so good.

Gottfried John is brilliant in this, and Bond and Q get on so much better than DaltonBond and Q.

I think the Q scene is one of the weaker parts of the film. It feels quite stilted, particularly with Desmond reading the auto cue. Though I always smile when the phone box is wheeled away with the poor bloke trapped inside.
Fair enough, but its a throwback to Moore IMO and i would rather have Desmond reading an autocue than not have him at all .

This is where GE is better than TLD...it breaks up the tension with funny moments that dont disrupt the film..TLD is just heavy and you feel worn out after watching it.

Bond is meant to be fun ,or if its not, then its shorter ,like QoS.

A tough film but less running time, works prefectly for me (QoS i mean )

Another way to Die is really underrated I think, score for QoS is excellent.
