Well, I supposed we have an idea now where the new Bond actor and other role players will be announced...and director...and musical composer...and theme song writer and performer...and set designer...and car...as well as the new film's title...and locations...and release date...etc., etc., etc...

Do we? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

Yeah, by now I'm following a lead on who the caterers might be. Some foods cause gas, which interferes with the creative process.

I thought my comments were obvious. They're going to have a "reality" show where people compete for a $1m prize, somehow involving actual or Bondian locations.
What I am suggesting is that the show will be used for making announcements about Bond 26. You want to know who will be the next director, singer, actor, etc. ? Tune in and find out ! A ratings booster.

That would be hard for them to resist.

It would reach every news station within the subsequent minute so I am not sure such a marketing gimmick would ultimately be successful.

To TV as Amazon announces the new 007 reality show...............007's Road to Millions!

    Is this a reality contest?

Didn’t see this coming, at all, 😂

That show sounds pretty horrible, but it apparently has been in development for four years, so it’s basically independent from the Amazon-MGM deal: variety.com/2022/tv/global/james-bond-amazon-show-mgm-1235214551/

    Anybody want to apply? https://shortaudition.net/007roadtoamillion

I'm against the idea of this amazing race show rip-off, it cheapens the brand for me.

As others have pointed out, cheapening the brand also occurred - depending on your personal level of tolerance - with comix and, more recently, graphic novels (as I said, depending your personal LOT), toys (especially in the Bond/spy heyday of the mid-1960s) which were targeted (ahem) at children, special features in Playboy magazine, HEAVY participation in marketing with Promotional Partners with products or advertisements shown conspicuously in films (and not just Aston Martin, by far not just Aston Martin), cologne, a CARTOON show of "James Bond, Jr." (though he was supposed to be James Bond's NEPHEW)...Not that I am fond of the concept of this forthcoming show, either.

Sure, it's more old-school marketing, but:
    EON is an old-school company,
NOT "every news outlet" Bond is not that pervasively relevant anymore HOWEVER quite likely on the Internet, sure,
Some BIG fans would tune in to "see it here first !"

It’ll really be interesting to see how „integrated“ this show is going to be. Whether we will actually see things relevant to the films be revealed there or whether it is more like a skin they slap on an Amazing Race clone and there won’t be more than a film scene pertaining to a location being shown now and again.
It certainly allows for a very controlled environment to announce stuff, but it’s not like EON have had problems with putting on announcement events…

Indeed, they have not, and they still can present during one of those events, but I fully expect it will be broadcast or presented, for the very first time, on their new show. Cross-promotion.

Campbell needs to direct the next film and why not bring Neeson as 007 for a final mission heck even call it

    The Final Mission

Yes ! You're in sync with my idea, then, to have a new actor over and over and for Bond to die in each film ? And, NO, I did NOT lift this idea from South Park ("OMG, they killed Kenny !")

On Instagram today the posting entity from the producers, 007, makes a statement confirming the game show. The comments are uniformly negative and come on pretty strong. OK, so the internet is prone to that but commenters on 007 are not always "haters."

    From the trailer.
    THERE IS NO TIME

So Bond in purgatory. His Angel Heart. I note there are seven terraces/levels.

If you're ready for mature-and-oh-my-gosh-how-is-he-still-alive-because-double-0s-die-on-the-job, then bring back George Lazenby first !

I have a feeling there will be a departure from what has come before, one way or the other. Simply because it needs to be reinvented in some form, to keep it fresh and interesting.

I wonder if Bond 7 will do a Lazenby in Bond 26 and say "I'm not the other fella" i.e referring to Craig's Bond.

Given the success of The Batman,I can see the next version of Bond following in a similar fashion. The early days of Bond, but not an origin story.

I like Liam a lot. But we just had a realistic, older Bond that went through his cycle of changing, getting older, being the "old dog" and retired, etc. etc. - and I don't see how going in that age direction is something EON would think best. I liked Liam as Bond, and I'd love Idris as Bond a lot - but I think that is not going to happen. I think that if they can find - I guess that's a major IF - someone in their 30s that has some natural charisma and decent acting chops - that would be their priority. For the next Bond to not be like Craig's in tone or in basic physical characteristics; something, someone different and I think that means younger also (not just lighter tone in the movies). I feel it does need to be different. For me, I am open to a lot but I do want somebody with real charisma who has a range of acting skills.

I think that's very likely, a bit like how CR followed on from Batman Begins/used a similar reboot premise. I can see them having some sort of little arc for Bond within the film if that's the case (I know some fans don't like that, but it depends on how it's done. Hopefully no retreading of the Craig era in terms of what they focus on). Also, after NTTD broke even they'll want something more stripped back, or at least cheaper, and The Batman's a good example of a franchise film that's ambitious while keeping its budget under £200 Million and being faithful to the tone/spirit of the source material. Perhaps we'll see some the mystery/detective elements of it creep into Bond 26 (much like how the Fleming novels take a lot of inspiration from the 50s hardboiled detective novels and have Bond doing more investigating than in a lot of the newer films). I enjoyed that film for what it's worth (the script had its faults, but the cinematography, direction, editing, score and sound design were excellent. I enjoyed it a lot).

I wouldn't be surprised and I'd be all for it: it would give them far more creative leverage.

Personally, I think the Craig era is too close to The Batman in tone and they would be more likely to go with their own well received Bond/Paloma styled light hearted adventure. Or at least I hope so.

Yes, I agree with you, @delfloria. How much different the next Bond film will be, in every way, is a mystery. But I don't see them taking a huge departure or want to repeat the darker, serious tone that Craig's era did so well. For sure, it will be interesting to see what clues we get, once we hear about next director, locations, etc. ... besides the new actor to portray Bond.

I think they'll continue to try for top-notch cinematography. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't try to get The Batman's cinematographer on board.

In terms of tone, Eon's endgame is, imo, to get that magical balance of humour and seriousness, grit and fantasy, that will please nearly everybody. |You can see from the way Craig's era went that they don't just stick with the one tone, they've been trying to integrate all the aspects of Bond into Craig's grittier era, including humour and over-the-top villains. Ultimately, they want it all (imo).

I'm not really sure what there is to be inspired by The Batman, as delforia says it's pretty much there already in terms of tone. Bond will be younger in the next one I'm sure but that was always going to be the case.
