Daniel Craig has revealed he can't wait to start filming the latest James Bond movie.

Daniel Craig is "gagging" to start shooting the latest James Bond movie.

The next instalment of the hit movie franchise - which will see the 42-year-old British actor reprise his role as the suave spy for the third time - will begin filming later this year and despite enjoying the break between this and the last movie, he can't wait to get back to playing the iconic character.

<I> He said: "We've got a script, it's fantastic I'm gagging to go, I've had a break now. Although it sort of seemed like it was never going to happen, it always was going to happen it was just a matter of sorting out people and financing. We start shooting October or November this year.</I>

"It's been nice to have some time off from the role, it's given me a chance to have a break and have incredible opportunities like make this cowboy movie 'Cowboys & Aliens'.

I love that he's excited. This time off was the best thing that could happen for Dan. With a break from Bond he has had time to free himself for other projects. Now he can come back better than ever and full of energy to get back to it. It'll be great to see.

The script! That's what I care about most and I'm glad he mentioned the script is ready and he's excited to get on with it.
  • I am very interesting about the script....I hate to wait to know what this Bond aventure is about.....I hope the starting of filming in Oct/Nov will give us something
  • Craig's excitement just boosts my excitement even more. It's going to be quite a ride! :-D

I actually can't remember a Bond film when the script was getting so much praise from the start! I know it's not like anyone ever badmouths the script of a film they're about to work on, but I only ever recall them talking about the action, the stunts and at a stretch 'the story' (which is different from the script, fyi!)

I know this could all still be hyperbole, but I'm hoping that as they seem confident enough to sing the praises of the script at this early stage it's a good sign the film itself will be ace!

With almost a complete year to work on it, the film can get all the extra help it needs post production, and that is very relieving. Can't wait to see what information is released next.

God, compare it with Connery at the end of his tenure who seemed to look upon his next film as a chore. Rog was always enthusiastic though.

The break in filming and the worry over Bond ever coming back has enthusd Craig no end.

Craig seems ready to get another two at least which is so great - after that maybe another break, then he can return and finish off his time as Bond. People are starting to speak up about Bond 23 at long last, so bring on October/November and those official casting and title announcements.

The video interview where Craig mentions this has already been posted here.
  • I am just as excited as Craig and I want to see two more from him after 23.

Not that I want to sound pessimistic, but didn´t they just hire another guy to go over the script again?

They hired another guy (John Logan) before January.

Another video with Craig talking about Bond 23:

I remember Craig raving about the CR script. Ended up being a brilliant film.
He didn't really say much about the QOS script. Ended up with mixed reviews.

Now he's happy with the Bond 23 script. I trust his judgement. B-)

Not much for him to say on the QoS script simply because the writer's strike handicapped any potential properly developed script treatment.
  • gagging? dirty boy. It better be a good one and why would he say anything else? Or he didn't need to say anything...in that case it must be a good script or he's seen it, not happy with it, and given a public kick up the backside to writers to up their game or he was reading the 24 script.

Logan was announced in January, so it's not certain how long he had been involved. But the reason this was done was because Peter Morgan originally was on board to write, but due to the MGM looming bankrupcy threat, B23 was delayed and Morgan moved on to other things. Furthermore, Morgan hadn't even begun writing a script. So all of the current script is all Logan/Purvis and Wade--with the possibility that some of Morgan's ideas were used--this matter even seeming improbable.

So all in all, there is no reason to be concerned because they 'just hired another guy'--which they didn't by the way, since he's been involved at least since the beginning of the year, which is essentially the beginning of the project since this is when B23 was greenlit again. Basically I wouldn't equate Logan's hiring to script troubles, but simply due to timing amidst the whole MGM fiasco.

I think @boldfinger means Patrick Marber, who was rumoured to be working on the script some time ago, this proved to not be the case. The press has just dug this up and is reporting he's working on Bond 23 which of course he's not.
  • Starting to really get pumped for production to begin! I'm thinking Bond 23 is going to be excellent, Craig says the script is fantastic..and a great director.. so far so good!

Plus, I've seen the original treatments for GLADIATOR which is probably the film closest to Bond - at least in terms of genre and the elements of action - that Logan is best known for. David Franzoni's original script was rubbish. Logan was the first man called in to do re-writes, and he gave the first act a complete overhaul. Franzoni originally had Maximus (then known as Narcissus) as a sportsman who worked his way into the gladiatorial arena; Logan changed him to a General in the Roman army and actually gave him a motive for killing the Emperor. Logan also set up Maximus' death (the original scrrenplay had Maximus killing the Emperor in front of thousands of witnesses and somehow escaping the Empire), and did extensive work on the dialogue, because Franzoni's dialogue only ever drove the plot forward. Logan then left the project and the script went back to Franzoni. Although more re-writes were done (disqualifying Logan from an Oscar nomination), there were no more substantial changes to the story.

Given that he turned GLADIATOR from a trainwreck into a decent film, I'd say he's a pair of safe hands for BOND 23.

wow Craig must be tired...He has four movie already release in 2011, Cowboys and Aliens, Dream House, and then THe girl with the dragoon tatoo, along with Tintin. And all four movies, he is the main character for three of them? and in 4 months from now he start filming Bond 23 in November

I'm pretty sure TINTIN has been in development for quite some time, and since it's voice work, Craig could have easily recorded his parts early on in the development cycle.

It's all about the script, IMO so this looks good if he is excited. If it wasn't good, I don't think he would say anything about it.

I just want the script to not suck. I want something compelling, exciting, fun, sexy and atmospheric.

Craig is more excited about Bond 23 than he was about Casino Royale.

It honestly feels like last December, when we had really nothing to go off of but hopes and dreams. Just to think that in about three months, Bond 23 will start filming. And before we know it, 2012 will be here and it won't be as bad of a wait because we will get new stills, teasers, trailers, etc. Man, am I excited.

When November gets here, it could well be bang, bang, bang until release. 2012 will then be here and with it being the 50th anniversary year, EON may keep us busy with other things too.

Yes, last Summer, it did seem like the MGM mess could go on forever, thank God it only took six months.

"Weisz ducked out for a quick bite with Craig uptown at restaurant Primola, where they met Bond producer Barbara Broccoli."

Don't tell me Rachel might still appear in B23...

She's the main woman lead in Bourne Legacy... Doubt she will appear as a Bond girl as well...

Hey with Sam Mendes (ex-b/f) and her husband on the team, anything's possible.
