  • I've said it before: I think the Sony leaks really burned EON, and they're likely keeping things really locked down to prevent that kind of embarrassment again. I've seen one or two interviews with some of the cast from the new Avengers movie, or from Game of Thrones, and the lengths the producers go to to keep the plot under wraps (not giving actors full scripts, filming multiple endings, etc) are pretty elaborate.

Not if Tom Holland's big mouth has anything to do with it ;)
Although we all know it's all part of the MCU propaganda.

I believe one of the earliest film productions to do that was Tom Cruise's War of the Worlds remake. At least from what I've read.

I'm actually comforted by the no news on casting or storyline, the leaks did indeed burn EON.

Having their dirty washing well and truly washed in public, the fact that early script was revealed and all those emails pulling the ideas to pieces did SPECTRE no favours at all.

There has been enough happened so far with this film for the press to put a negative spin on things, Boyle walking definitely gave plenty here and outside to start questioning EON's dealings. Although I think with CF's apppointment they've grabbed back some of the positivity.

He's one of the hottest film makers around at it has been a real coup securing him, I think if they'd gone for someone not so young and fresh like CF a number of us would be still having our suspicions but now with not such a notoriously politically outspoken director and one who has a pretty flawless track record things are in deed looking bright, so bright I gotta wear shades.

Definitely agree. I might be wrong, but for a young director like Fukunaga not having to answer a lot of questions regarding casting rumours etc. that probably would have been the case if things weren't as locked down, might be a good thing. He's already made a name for himself, but taking on a big franchise like this is a major step – and having the opportunity to work out the script, casting etc. in "peace and quiet", can only be a good thing.

Don't know where I was going with this comment actually, but I think an young director can benefit from a tight-lipped situation from the production side of things.

By the way, has anybody been keeping an eye on that Eon's production tracking website?

Doctor Who is already doing that. And failing miserably because of its condescending tone. Please keep current world politics out of Bond and make something for the ages. Even Fleming used smersh so he wouldn't use the KGB.
I'm glad your straightened out @LeChiffre on the political matter, so I didn't have to @Univex. I concur with everything you just said.

Au contraire. I stand by my original point. No one straightens me out thank you Donald. Fake news.

Perhaps it'd be better start maturing rather than posting imbecilic comments and provoking online argument.

Is it a site that tracks every aspect of production?

MOD EDIT: Drop the politics and focus on B25. We had a political page and it had to be closed because of crap like this. Want politics, go to Facebook. I come to these forums to get away from that crap not to be reabsorbed by it.

Yes. There was one that listed the milestones they went through, like forming a small production, hiring people, etc. Can't recall much about it, but there was some sort of a site as such found by one of the members here.

Unfortunately not. That's why I asked if anybody remembers the domain name.

Yes and thank you. The producers have wisely managed to keep Bond far enough away from world politics over the years and I suggest we do the same here. There is another thread to talk politics, if that is your desire.

I know the site you're referring to, but it doesn't offer anything on the news front. It's merely a database of employees and financial stuff.

Well, I didn't intend to straighten out anybody, that's for sure. Cheers mates

Well it's November and even though I'm thrilled that cary fukunaga is directing bond 25 I still feel like if danny boyle didn't cop out than production would have been a month away and we would have been hearing alot more details than what we are hearing now.

Yes, of course. Because much would have changed, I think. Including cast, story, etc. I think out of location, cinematography, and cast ... I am guessing we may hear about cinematography next.

Seeing as Bond can no longer outdo MI franchise for stunts and action I just hope Fukanaga has some decent script to work with

Not with Purvis and Wade around with "original" material.

We did have a Trump-like character who was a villain. His name is Goldfinger.

    Or Milton Krest.

It seems to me that Eon only goes political when it is an enemy on which everyone agrees (North Korea in the '90s, Russia in the '80s, China in the '70s...). And even then, it's about safe box office. Was DAD being shown in North Korea? OP in Russia? TMWTGG in China? No, no, and no.

BB is on record as having opposing political views from MGW so, for what it's worth, I think Eon balances each other out and strives to make films that are not very political.

They'll have to bring a newness something similar to skyfall. At the time skyfall was released it was pretty much hailed as the best bond film ever made and the best film of 2012
  • I want the gun barrel sequence back at the end of the movie. It felt more natural.

In that case maybe they should do both. I do want to see it open the film.

The only mission impossible stunt which was outdone was Burj khalifa sequence. I have seen much better helicopter/foot/bike/boat/car chase in bond films. Casino Royale parkour sequence/ quantum of solace car chase/plane sequence/skyfall bike chase were rated best in years.
