It arrived in Australia today, and who was first inline when the shops opened this morning?
One boxset please. I don't care, I want Bond on blu-ray. Can't wait to try it out on my surround sound theatre system.
  • Finally got mine!
I reserve judgement til I pop in the first disc...but I love the cover and for that price...it's great.

Of course there could have been so much done...and there could have been so much extras. And I won't lie to you, I was thinking about ordering that Indiana Jones Blue Ray limited edition that contains a lot stuff ...even the grail diary. But then I reflected...do I actually need that stuff? Yeah, it's cool and funny that there is a ticket to the Obi-Wan Club in the box...but what are you doing with it?
And in the end I think the 4 movies (and many only count 3 don't they ;-) are more expansive than 22 Bond films.

    Nah...I am happy with it!

Of course...if they had for example put all the Bond actors in 2012 together...filming a discussion between them...that would be an extra worth buying! But with Connery...this is probably never going to happen..
  • Merde!...

Interesting! That is exactly what came to my mind this morning . . !

    ;)
  • Got it, spent the afternoon watching it, the quality is just incredible. what a great buy, the bonus disc is such a let down, i took a look at the titles feature thinking it was a new documentary about the titles but it was just the title sequences. What is the point of that? The titles are in the films! The martin cambell and mike wilson comentary is missing on the casino royale blu ray but apart from that all the features are in tact. Whatever your opinion is on quantum of solace the quality of the blu ray is outstanding and adds to the film so much. A great purchase.

Got my set on Monday though sadly due to other commitments I've only got as far as LALD. Really impressed with the quality of the Blu-Ray disks (even if they do make George look more weathered than I would of believed possible). I don't really mind that there are so few extras, the original DVD's extras were already pretty well stocked (as John Cleese's R might say), though my one niggling complaint is why do we still have the silhouette on the features menu firing a P99, surely with only 4 of the 22 using this and Daniel's Bond having gone back to the PPK it's hardly the representative firearm of the series...though I do concede I probably think to much about things like this!

You got your set on monday and you're 'only' up to LALD?

Its only wednesday afternoon - thats 8 films in 2 1/2 days man!!!

What are these other commitments you speak of that are distracting you? I hope you havent got children because your kid has probably starved to death in the corner!

I suppose thats one good thing to be said for the recession - gives a bloke 8 hours a day to watch Bond films rather than going to a job of work!!! :))
  • Sorry if anyone has posted this already.

Got my set not twenty minutes ago. What a beautiful collection. I can understand how some have mentioned the difficulty of getting the discs out of the sleeve, but I've practiced enough on the bonus disc to get the right feeling.

Because I'm in the States, November 9th is my Skyfall day. So on October 15th, I shall begin a 23 film (NSNA included), 23 day long marathon leading up to Skyfall. I've made it clear to myself that I cannot watch any of the films until Oct. 15.

It's going to be challenging, as I have not watched a Bond film in full for nearly a month. BUT I MUST HOLD OUT!

Oh, believe me I have thought about that! I see my hold out as a right of passage to Skyfall. If I can hold out that long without going crazy, I will be worthy of a Skyfall viewing. ;)
  • At this point I am dramatically unworthy! :)

After waiting 4 years I hope you don't mind holding out on Skyfall a little longer.

Just a random little discovery - for the Bond Blu-rays that were not released originally, the art work for what the old Blu-ray covers would look like are on the Blu-ray disc preview window when you select it in your blu-ray player (depending on your player). As far as I'm aware the art was never released. Either way there's a nice little find, not that anyone will be interested - the art for the old cases were pretty awful...
  • The French blu-ray era boxes affair is getting more curious . . .

    :-O

Remember? I pre-orderd the Brosnan box and did not get it on release day -- Amazon.fr told me, they will not send it before October 9. I checked the status of the other two boxes on their site and was surprised to see that all three boxes for Connery, Moore, and Brosnan have been listed with a delivery time of "10 à 12 jours" since release day. Even more, the Moore and Brosnan DVD counterparts seem to have received the same treatment with the new Connery DVD box even no longer being offered by the French Amazon site.

Interestingly, all six items, however, are "en stock" with Marketplace dealers (which implies they were indeed released on September 26 as planned), who are charging 80 to 85 Euros for the Connery DVD box, for example -- not even blu-ray. For the blu-ray box of Connery, the Marketplace guys charge merely 70 to 79 Euros.

Now, talk about stock mismanagement. It might be the fault of Amazon or that of the distributor who might not have fullfilled their order, but obviously put the items on the market after all. Maybe, I should advice Amazon.fr to buy my box from the marketplace dealers and finally send it to me . . !

    ;)

    And You guys are watching Your previously unreleased Bond blu-rays . . ! I wonder, what e-mail I will get on October 9 . . .
  • Desolé ! for the issues with amazon.fr very frustrating...
I can report that I received my boxset yesterday (j'ai commandé avec amazon.uk!) and I think you asked a while back what TND was like. I didn't have time to watch an entire film..but I did watch the PTS and the titles to all the blurays that I didn't already own...YOLT,OHMSS,DAF,TSWLM,OP,AVTAK,TLD,GE,TND. I can report that all* the films have exceptional picture and sound. (The DTS-Master Audio tracks pack a lot of punch even on the older films)...*However...Goldeneye does have a lot of DNR applied from what I saw...I was a little worried afterwards that TND would look the same but TND does look a lot more "film like" that GE. From what I saw GE has had a lot of the film grain removed and has a smoother look...I prefer when the grain is left intact as some of the finer detail can be lost with DNR.....just my thoughts on seeing a few brief minutes. Even though I already own the previous released blurays I am still happy with the boxset. The Bonus disc is dissapointing but there is sooo much information already on all the blurays what else could they have added.. Maybe the QOS disc could have had a special edition upgrade with maybe an audio commentary by Marc Forster...however...he may be busy trying to figure out what to do with World War Z :-) so didn't have the time!...plus the QOS menu is from the original disc release and doesn't have the special edition menu treatment which seems a bit odd...overall though a decent release and well worth the money!....

Oh, thank You -- that is très intéressant, uhm, very interesting . . !

    ;)

I like to have grain in my films. I did think differently when I first bought a blu-ray player, but I changed my mind.

And regarding my new friends in France: Should the box be even later and closer to the release of the individual discs, I might cancel my order altogether. For what it's worth, a France-only blu-ray box would make a fine collectible -- but getting two unreleased films early will not be an incentive for me beyond a certain point of temporal proximity to all remaining discs hitting the market individually . . .

By the way: news regrading that release date, anyone? We know of some unseen discs being up for release in early October as exclusives to certain US vendors and "Goldeneye" at Play.com in December, but when will the general market get them?

Has anyone given the TND disc a spin? I see that the old 12 rating is back on it - have they gone back to the previous home video outing or is just been reclassified with the throwing stars and Bond kicking a goon when he's down left in?
Hopefully get around to viewing it myself sometime, just curious is all.

It's the uncut version and it's just been reclassified back down to a 12.

And how appropriate to have the set next to the film! Who's autograph is that?

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7 It's signed by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. It's the poster I won a few months ago from the official Twitter competition.

Went out for the evening, and Wal-Mart had a pretty cool setup for the separate DVD and blu-ray Ultimate Editions. I picked up two that I didn't pre-order - but the main reason I pre-ordered them was because they were marked as $20.00 upon release, yet they were $9.99 in the store - so I bought MR and DAF. I have three that have already shipped and another three that are awaiting shipping.

i just got the blu-ray yesterday 3 days after it shipped its a great set i just didnt like how amazon was much cheaper than walmart AFTER its release date then before when u pre-ordered it. did anyone else get it? amazon has it for $149.99 and walmart has it for 178.99. both prices were the same when pre-ordering around $187 then $185 and now the prices i mentioned sounds like a rip-off? i thought wal-mart is always suppose to be cheaper than amazon? o well the prices don't matter now our set is already paid for.

Enjoying a bottle of red with AVTAK. It really is a guilty pleasure. Looks very good.

^It sure does. Love the clarity of the snow in the PTS, I never noticed just how grim the dead 00 agent looks as Bond claws away the ice. Very good indeed. :-)

On the subject of AVTAK, does anybody's film jump a few frames when Mayday jumps into bed with Bond? Not that it's a few frames that I'm gonna miss but it looks really odd!

But I swear my old special edition DVD and VHS copy didn't do that! I'll have to rewatch!
