I merely think he's a horribly generic, wooden actor. If it needs to be stated again, you won't find a bigger Brosnan fan than myself, someone pining for the return of fun, straight-forward missions in the Bond films.

Not to get in the middle of this, but I think it's important for an actor to be able to have more than a few expressions, such as 'blank stare' or 'frowning' or 'pain face'. Sadly, Cavill hasn't demonstrated this yet in anything I've seem him in. He's definitely in the Aaron Taylor Johnson, Sam Worthington, Jai Courtney, Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein mold.

Brozz is at least one step up imho.

Odd, I never notice that much expression. He's improving.

    ...wait, wait!! ..nope ...termites.

If you count the rings you can how actually old he is...

Just to clarify, I meant the one on the wooden plank. I don't have an issue with emoticons.

He was good in TMFU and Superman though. Full stop. He isn't a fantastic actor (he's ok) but he does have star quality and screen presence. Bab's still made the right choice in DC.

It's a damning indictment of Martin Campbell's judgement that he wanted Cavill instead of Craig. EON really dodged a bullet there. Cavill is atrocious.

Agreed, Cavill was ok in TMFU, but a block of wood in everthing else.

Agreed, it is a damning indictment of Martin Campbell's judgement that he wanted a 22 year old Cavill instead of Craig. But in his defense, Sam Mendes (upon hearing of the casting) thought Daniel wasn't Bond (prior to watching CR). But I still like Cavill, but not as a Bond, given that there are better choices out there (i.e. Hiddleston).

I'd still take him over a TV actor such as Aiden Turner though.

None of the bond actors were particularly successful film actors before they took the role.

Totally agree, but it's my personal view of what 'I see in an actor' or not. For example Tom Cruise isn't tall enough to be a leading man, BUT his charisma and screen presence make up for this.

Aiden Turner is a far better actor than Cavill, I think Turner would make a
    great 007.

I haven't seem him in anything, but his looks certainly fit the part.

I never thought watching a film with Ben Afleck in it ( Batman v Superman ) I'd be
leaving the theatre thinking, "how good an actor he was " ;) as I used to think he
was bad until I watched Cavill. :D
Cavill, is good for lightweight roles, light comedy perhaps.

I agree. I just rewatched it yesterday, and one of the major problems was how Affleck completely outshone the so called 'hero' of the piece, who is the definition of a block of wood.

-Yet another Co Incidence; My REAL name sounds like a 'Block of Wood'..!(HOLLY-WOOD??!)..!

Henry Cavill is a perfect example of a good looking guy cast on his looks but with little or no acting ability. When I say "ability" I mean no depth/range or ability to make you like or feel anything about his acting. Sure, he can act in the sense of saying a line and it sounds okay but if you're paying ten quid or more to go to the cinema to see the likes of Cavill you'd like to see someone with a bit more acting range, perhaps!

I think we should all be happy/grateful if he never gets the chance to become James Bond.

'Gone Girl' proves that Affleck can act.
