Yes this is quite a good point, Babs simply didn't want to offend anyone imo. She was just being diplomatic when she says that and i don't blame her to be very honest.
Let's see, my friend. For now, he still looks like a young prince Charles to me.
I mean, get his picture next to Gandy's. We need a guy that can ooze style and menace at the same time.

I love Denis Villeneuve. I love Chris Nolan. I want them to direct Bond films. That being said, I wouldn't watch that movie. Sope Dirisu is not Ian Fleming's James Bond. You see, Sope Dirisu is black, and it would be wrong, not to mention racist to change the race of a white literary fictional character. I wouldn't do it to a black fictional literary character. I wouldn't do it to an asian fictional literary character. So I wouldn't do it to a caucasian one. Why people think race washing is ok sometimes is beyond me.
It is race washing. You know why? Because if there was a black fictional character that was portrayed for ages in cinema, and they changed it to a white actor, I'd love to see the comments on that. If an asian famous anime character was suddenly changed in cinema to be white (it has been done, wrongfully done), it would be white washing. The same goes for Bond. A black Bond would be race washing. And so, racist.
It's only logic, damn it.
The reason I can't get off this thread and argument is simple. I can't, for the life of me, understand the logic-blind thinking that goes around here, and the circular obsessive compulsory discussion about a different race James Bond. I simply can't. And you know what? Yeah, I'll stick around. I'll make my point from time to time. Why not? Am I an idiot because I think that repeating logic will make logic-blind people see it? Well...maybe :D
Hell, why not? It sure would fit the double standard logic, wouldn't it? Try seeing it the other way around.
But for me that isn't really the main deal. I like to stay close, very close to the source. That would be throwing the source into the sea, hook, line and sinker.
I don't think I would call it racist, that label is used far too broadly; I would call it the cultural appropriation of an established, iconic character.
It's interesting that the colour of his skin is the tipping point for you, considering how far from the literary source the franchise has already deviated.
...but I can agree he looks too young atm. Definitely potential, and imo already has the acting chops, which has earnt him a nomination from BAFTA, maybe even a win :)
Only Luke Evans could pull it off, I think.

They should both be cast as good looking versions of The Spang Brothers haha :D

Am I the only one that finds this Dyson fella so irritating, it is like nails down a blackboard listening to his voice.
The problem with the internet as it allows anyone to do this kind of thing even if they have that factor to appear on screen or even someone who actually as any clue what they are talking about.
Which this twit most certainly doesn't. I mean it is like listening to someone down the pub explaining a film and getting it totally wrong.
That's not really how it works: one isn't equal to the other. Maybe one day hopefully, but not now.
It'd be lovely if we lived in that perfectly, coldly logical world you describe, but we live in the real one.

Gandy would probably be good reference for someone drawing a comic book Bond, but I can't look at photos of him without thinking of Zoolander :D

He's a very good actor and a film star, and that helps me to see how he could work for Bond.
Yeah I'm not 100% sure myself, but I don't think there are any Brosnan/Dalton types out there who just 'look' like Bond and have the required experience, so I think the next one is going to be one we'll have to slightly adjust our mindset to no matter who it is.
With his experience and the sort of thing he's doing in that ad, I'd be amazed if Hoult isn't on their list. Unless he doesn't want to be of course.
Yeah like I say, I don't really see him as Bond, but that's why he sort of interests me if you know what I mean! I like to be a bit challenged: and I'd much rather a successful actor than someone who just has 'the look'. But then that's probably why you like C Turner!
I also rather like the idea of a Bond who's done a bit of comedy.
He looks more like Fiennes than Cumberbatch. Although i would agree that he is too old now sadly.
Although if they’re gonna cast anyone from the Skins series, I’d still go for Sean Teale. While younger he just seems more like James Bond than Hoult :)
