Connery did a FRWL game in 2005, which film/actor would you like to see with a game next?

The game didn't do poorly. Why would you assume that?

I think I read this somewhere a long time ago... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the game developer obligated to use the likeness of the current Bond actor? I thought that's why they were able to make FRWL at all, because it was between the end of Brosnan's contract and the start of Craig's, giving them a window of opportunity to use Connery instead.

I wasn't aware of that, @Milovy. I know that 'Bond6' was being written for Brosnan by Bruce Feirstein (who ended up adapting FRWL into a game later on) and most notably the first level of From Russia With Love was converted from the said 'Bond6' title, but I didn't know they had to use an actor's likeness out of obligation.

They could have come up with a new game instead starring Connery. That's something I'll always dwell on.

@ClarkDevlin Don't quote me on that, though. I might be wrong.

I didn't know that re: FRWL's first level.

Don't worry, @Milovy. I'll get to the bottom of this before trying to misquote anyone. ;)

Meanwhile, here's the original concept of the first level:

@Milovy Not too sure about that. Think back to Agent Under Fire, it didn't feature the voice or likeness of Brosnan.

True but they can use 'generic Bond' any time they want, if they don't want to shell out for likeness rights.
FRWL with Connery was only allowed to happen because there was no current Bond at the time

Bond games seem to be a poisoned chalice for a while now.

But, keep in mind, Nightfire started out with the 'generic Bond' and brought in Brosnan at the very final stages. A new contract could have been signed by then during the development of that title. So, what @Milovy claimed could very well have been true. My guess is... three? Counting 'Bond6'?

@ClarkDevlin You could be right. Which is exactly why we probably won't get another Bond game featuring Craig. He most likely won't continue with the role after the next film.

Best thing to do is just create their own adventures and Bond to go along with it. Being tied down to the current era really does hurt the games.

Yep, I said the same thing in the Bond's Gaming Future thread.

It's certainly nowhere near AUF's or EON's sales (vgchartz)

It wasn't. It sold less copies than GE:RA even, but it definitely did not perform poorly.

At the time, Brosnan had not yet renewed his contract.

Still surprised Moore hasn't gotten one. His movies scream video game adaptation

Agent Under Fire originally was written with Moore in mind.

@ClarkDevlin That is pretty interesting. I wonder why they originally wrote it with Moore in mind, especially considering the game started development as The World Is Not Enough but for next gen consoles.

@GamesBond007, as far as I know, it was too late for The World Is Not Enough to be released on PC and PS2, after several delays, the game was reconstructed (but not restarted) as Agent Under Fire and at the earliest stages, the publishers sought for Roger Moore to be Bond, but due to legal and contractual reasons, they had to abandon the thought, which I assume was circulated around Cleese's departure as R, as well.

However, if you really pay attention to Bond's delivery of lines and behaviour, he does sound a lot like Moore more than anybody else. Even his voice actor expresses himself similarly to that of Moore, albeit in a bit spoofed manner.

Very cool. You can certainly hear it in the VO's delivery.

I did find a few relics of TWINE in the game. Some of the stuff found on computer screens involve the pipeline scene, the villain is a woman, the henchman is bald, the BMW Z8 and so on.

It's fascinating to me just how many of these games started as something else, then were morphed on the fly to be a new game with elements of what it originally was supposed to be. Kind of like FRWL having the opening of the Bond game that didn't get made.

I'm willing to write a book regarding the history of the James Bond video games one day. That's one of my life goals.

@ClarkDevlin, be sure to include a last chapter that details how Bond games as we ever knew them died two decades earlier following an idiotic licensing deal that restricted the Bond entertainment brand to slot machines.

I'll definitely be addressing that, Brady. Although, in a manner that does not put me in legal problems, followed by these people whoever purchased the Bond Gaming license having me sued and taken to a court... Or let me sleep with the fishes. :))
  • TLD & LTK, but the games won't make much money because of Dalton low popularity as Bond. I would also like to be able to play as all the Bonds in multiplayer, GE N64 was meant to have this feature.
  • I'd love to see the following:

    Connery era-
    -Dr. No
    -Goldfinger
    -Thunderball
    -You Only Live Twice

    Moore era-
    -Live and Let Die
-The Man with the Golden Gun
    -The Spy Who Loved Me
    -Moonraker
    -A View to a Kill

    Dalton era-
-The Living Daylights and License to Kill (someone mentioned these two in a single supergame with two campaigns and an original story THAT WOULD BE AWESOME)

    Brosnan era-
    -Tomorrow Never Dies
    -The World is not Enough
    -Die Another Day

    Craig era-
    -Casino Royale
    -Quantum of Solace
    -Skyfall
    -SPECTRE

(Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace done as individual titles)

Licence to Kill the game as I am watching I relize this movie is custom made for a game a full game not the silly 2 levels in legends

Level 1 an action level of Daltons bond on key west trying to get Sánchez level ends with Sánchez escaping
Level 2 an on rails level of Bond killing Sánchez men and trying to reach the plane in the air
Level 3 shoot out at Milton’s base in key west
Level 4 shoot out at the bar
Level 5 stealth level aboard the Wavekrest
Level 6 shoot out and underwater level around the Wavecrest
Level 7 blackjack at the casino and stealth level to make it to Sánchez office
Level 8 sniper level to kill Sánchez and fight with the ninjas
Level 9 second stealth level aboard the Wavekrest boss fight with Milton Kresr
Level 10 stealth level in Sánchez house (to get back to your room before Sánchez discovers your gone)
Level 11 shoot out at the factory (Dario boss fight)
Level 12 truck chase part 1
Level 13 truck chase part 2
    Level 14 revaluation from M

Sure it’s more stealth base and a black jack level but I would love it

Sounds great - @Risico007 - I can imagine Professor Joe Butcher on the tvs all around the Isthmus mission locations! I really like stealth missions - particularly in Bond games,

As a bit of fun I'd like to see TLD as a game too.

    1) Skydiving and scaling wall sequence (cut scene - Tim head turns and we see him for the first time)
    2) chase, jump on the truck (avoiding Gibraltar guards), wrestle control of the jeep. (Cut scene - jeep smashes through wall)
    3) escape jeep out the back, as your parachute disintegrates you have to aim and land on the yacht (cut scene - Linda greets you - better make that two)

    Credits and A-ha song

    4) sniper sequence and sneaking into gas pipeline

    5) playing as Necros you fight your way into the Bladen safe house. Exploding milk bottles and getting Koskov to helicopter before being discovered.

    6) car chase through ice.

    7) cello ride down slopes (avoiding gunfire and trees)

    8) sneaking in Puskin's suite, interrogation sequence (similar to how LA Noire did theirs), 'assassination' of Pushkin (cut scene spotlight goes on Bond and he shoots it)

9.) chase across the roofs of Tangiers (a sneaky carpet ride and dropping on motorbike as an Easter egg?)

10.) escaping Russian prison and then airbase

11.) stealth mission loading opium and bomb

12.) fight on airbase, plane taking off, lining up plane to let Kara onboard

    13.) fight with Necros

14.) dropping bomb on bridge and escaping plane with jeep (cut scene - I know a good restaurant in Karachi)

15.) stealth mission to infiltrate whittaker's

    16.) shootout with Whittaker

  • I want to play as George Lazenby as Bond in OHMMS but I don't think it will ever happen.

I am sorry to break the party here, but only the current Bond actor can be James Bond in a video game, be it an original one or an adaption of a past Bond movie. The only time a Bond video game with a past Bond (Moore, Connery, Dalton) can be made, is when there isn't a current Bond actor, which only occurs between the moment the previous actor leaves the role, and the moment the next Bond actor is cast. So we have to wait for Craig to leave the role before seeing a Moore, Connery, Dalton, Lazenby video game adapation. And I'm sorry to admit, but I sincerly doubt Moore will live long enough to see Craig leave the role in 4/6 years' time.

    Almost predicting the future! Wow!

I don't think they would bring back a previous Bond to make a new video game when they will be announcing the new actor to take on the role. So to me this will most likely never happen again. In pure fantasy it would be nice to see a Lazenby OHMSS though they would have to create some action scenes to make it a great game.
