Just done a bit of digging on London Grammar, a band that I have heard of at least. Not sure whether they have enough of an international pull in the same league as Ed Sheeran though. I was surprised to read that they had the fifth top-selling album of 2014 with only sales of over 138,000 copies (356,000 in total). That's really piss poor when you compare that with 15–19 million album selling artists. Still, I quite like London Grammar as a potential title performer. Most of the suggestions here are either way too obscure or just don't have enough clout to sell that many copies outside of their little niche fanbase. You gotta think big, people.

London Grammar are quite well known across Europe, I think. They were supposed to headline a festival not too far from where I live back in 2014, but had to cancel on short notice. They were replaced by St. Vincent - who @talos7 posted a video of on the previous page.

I think London Grammar had their moment a few years ago.

Arctic Monkey's new album was released last week. A bit different sound than the last album, A.M - still, it would be interesting to see them doing a Bond theme song.

    Yikes. No thanks.

That latest song by the Arctic Monkeys is pretty dire. Only to be liked by the faithful whose unwavering loyalty is never questioned is my guess.

Actually prefer this album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino to the previous A.M - although A.M was a more "single friendly" album. No singles at all from this one. Their third album, Humbug, is still my favourite, but that's probably one of the least accessible albums in Arctic Monkeys' catalogue.

    LOL at "least accessible."

To be fair to the Monkeys, I'm only judging them now (as opposed to yesteryear) based solely on this one track as I have no real urge to seek out more of their most recent output. I'm sure Alex Turner still has the talent to produce a decent Bond song though, but I wouldn't go on that song if I were trying to make my case. Anyway, what do I know? I no longer care for the music charts anymore!!

That's understandable. It's not like Arctic Monkeys are for everyone. A.M - as I mentioned above, would be a closer fit to the CR style rock theme than anything else they've made. As for music charts, I really don't follow them either, but as far as contemporary music goes, I do enjoy a bit of Arctic Monkeys.

I must admit after SP's incredibly disappointing ballad, I'm all for a rock style theme again. If it had been a few year's ago I would've given Muse or Depeche Mode the nod over Sam Smith, but they're sadly no longer in serious contention anymore.

I'd really like a Depeche Mode theme song. Would no doubt be fantastic (and probably fittingly dark).

Now Mgm and Universal making movie and no longer Sony, can we say Adele wil not return.
Will we get somebody from Universal.

You raise an interesting point @M_Balje. Could it be that the likes of Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have taken a step closer to performing the next Bond song than previously before?

I agree @Torgeirtrap, I would've liked Depeche Mode to have done the title song but preferably with Alan Wilder still within the band. Good thing is that they're on Universal Music Groups too.

No band has performed the theme song since Garbage (1999). And no British band has performed it since Duran Duran (1985). So the time is right. Boyle brought Arctic Monkeys in for the Olympics, so there is a connection there.

Yeah, they were absolutely fantastic on the albums with Wilder still a part of the band. They've made some nice tunes recently, as well - but he did add something extra to their music.

That's a good point. In music (scores, etc.) and in films, does Boyle tend to return to those he's familiar with? Haven't seen any Boyle films, so I really don't know.

Jeezus! All I can say is: I'm glad that @Thunderfinger isn't in charge on deciding who performs the next Bond song.

like the bits about saint Etienne and Brosnan much preferring their song to Crow's yawn fest

Good chance it will be Underworld

underworld are about 20 years behind their chance. Boyle might go slightly leftfield but EON like a popular current band/singer

One of those other 9 (Sheryl Crow who did Tomorrow Never Dies is on the list too.)
Also there is one i never heard much from (Michelle Branch) and i think Britney Spears is missing.
