I believe it was a deliberate attempt to separate Dalton from his predecessor, to show that this guy was going to take things very seriously.

    Belle Avery.

Carey Lowell looks good but I hate the way she looks with short hair. Kills the sex appeal for me.

These are my opinions that differ from hardcore bond fans despite me being one

    Dr no is very average
Thunderball is the worst cinematic film ever
I love the Spy Who Loved me and octopussy
I think a View to a kill is shit
The Living Daylights is my second favorite film
License to kill is really good and so is dalton
Pierce Brosnan is a great bond and has two great films. TND and goldeneye which I like lesser because of its cancerous score
Skyfall is almost as bad as thunderball
Quantum of solace is great not the best but a solid entry

Based on these, may I ask what decade were you born in @JamesBondKenya
I find the older I get, the more I appreciate the 60's and 70's entries more. But also the newer films. Two films that I was never keen on originally are YOLT and GE, but both have become two films I enjoy more and more. I wonder if our age has an impact on our enjoyment of the films. Another one would be FAF, which for many a year, I found rather silly and very in Bond like. Today, I like its bizarreness and find it a fun romp from beginning to end.
    Just for the record....

Dr no is very average - Not really. Great debut.
Thunderball is the worst cinematic film ever - Not even close.
I love the Spy Who Loved me and Octopussy - Totally agree.
I think a View to a kill is shit - I wouldn't put it quite like that, but it isn't great.
The Living Daylights is my second favorite film - It's in my top 5, and always has been.
License to kill is really good and so is Dalton - Can't disagree on these points
Pierce Brosnan is a great bond and has two great films. TND and goldeneye which I like lesser because of its cancerous score - GE is easily Brosnans best.
Skyfall is almost as bad as Thunderball - Can't agree with that.
Quantum of solace is great not the best but a solid entry - I know it is loved, but I find it a poor follow up to CR, with awful editing and camera work. The most dour and least fun film of the series hands down.

I was born in 2002 I find that all the films have something to enjoy in them except skyfall and thunderball otherwise I think every bond film is unique and good in its own way. I've found my own opinions completely flip flop in the past year with movies like from Russia With Love that went from average to favorite

@JamesBondKenya, you'll likely find your tastes and appreciation in the series to slightly alter over the next decade or so. Happens to all of us, my ranking today certainly isn't the same as it was when I was a teenager.

Definitely agree on this. Bond films just get better as you get older, particularly FRWL. Seemed boring as a teenager, now in my top 5. You never really appreciate how great Connery is until you see how effortlessly and cool he plays the role compared to the other actors.

+1. Hated FRWL as a kid. My favourite Conner's was YOLT back then (because I thought it was the most Roger Moorish). How things change.

As a teenager my favourite was always GE. To be honest though, I don't remember flat out disliking any of the films.

I've always loved the first 4 Connery films and still do. As a teenager the Brosnan era was a big disappointment and when Casino Royale came along it really emphasised this for me.

Madonna's lyrics are good. The music, however...

Still can't believe Bond took "sloppy seconds" from Austin Powers on the singer.

Nor I. That's the beauty of being young, I was nowhere near as critical as I am today. At the same time, though, the films that I may not have been a big fan of as a kid (OHMSS) now make my Top 5 (or in OHMSS' case, Top 3).

While I always liked those early films, I definitely like them even more as an adult as that's when you appreciate how well made they are.

    A couple from DAD:

Welcome To Cuba is one of Arnold's finest moments.

I enjoy the Jinx/Miranda fight more than the Bond/Graves one at the end.
I think the first half (roughly) of DAD is quite good overall (I was initially kind of elated that the first half of DAD was way better than the dismal TWINE, but the second half sort of disappointed so much as to completely nix that effect) , and NOT just for Arnold's excellent take on creating (or copying?) Cuban music. It's the second half that remits DAD to the junk heap, starting no later than the first meeting with Jinx.
I think Arnold is better than john barry

To me, the screen time is irrelevant if the actor in question makes an impact, which Dr. No does splendidly for me. All I needed was that dinner sequence to make up for a lack of seeing him throughout the rest of the movie.
This. That dinner scene is excellent and probably the greatest set of dialogue exchanges between Bond and villain of the whole series.

Lol, True. I guess SKYFALL and Thunderball are too boring for him.
  • Hagrid is bad in GE and TWINE. Wish they'd gotten a Russian.

I dislike getting British actors to play foreigners.

Now that I think of it, GE isn't that good.

Slips further in my rankings with every viewing.

    It's just so ... sluggish.

By God, where does that leave Brozza?

One of my personal favourites and certainly on my top five, "Thunderball" is one of the most well rounded Bond adventures to date. Exotic locations, beautiful women, battle sequences, gadgets, suspense, terrific music, and a memorable villain add up to the best of the "popcorn" Bond movies. Terrific entertainment and very faithful to Fleming! It's madness to have it in the bottom 5, pure madness. I would go as far as saying that those who don't like TB, don't really like Fleming or Bond.

TB does get boring, though. It could have been 20-30 minutes shorter (something that could be said of other Bond films as well).
