This thread is pure blasphemy! :P

Seriously, if I must choose, it would be TMWTGG, AVTAK and TWINE, however these are still Bond films and they each give me sufficient material to enjoy so I'd prefer to leave them in. Unlike many, I can say that I like some films less than others, but I don't dislike any of the Bonds at this point.
• Its a wonderful cannon of films, I like them all behind LTK. Truman-Lodge would agree.

I'm serious. That was an ace movie.

It looks good and has great music. That's it. The plot's a mess and further down the line gave us The Spy Who Loved Me.

I mean it could definitely have been done better, but out of what we have.. and what came after, I'd honestly go with getting rid of .. all? of Brosnan's films. And Moonraker. But the rest stands.

I was being brief in my earlier post. If I expanded, yes, the Brosnan films and Moonraker would be next. Hell, if I had my way, the only Bond films would be:

Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Thunderball
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
For Your Eyes Only
Ocotpussy
The Living Daylights
Licence To Kill

Casino Royale

There we go. Now I agree (but I still feel YOLT is deserving of the Bond title, considering its one of the most epic tales of the series, and how 86% of geographical Bond references come from it. )

If I had my choice it'd be bye bye to YOLT, DAF, LALD, TMWTGG, TSWLM, MR, FYEO, OP, AVTAK, and DAD.

While I consider QoS totaly worthless, in my humble opinion, I believe that all 007 movies so far have been entertaining and well worth watching. Even NSNA is a blast of fun for me.

I would leave DAF out take that print out and burn it. forget that crap ever existed.
MR ? movie I hated the most but I would keep it just for the PTS
All of Brosnan's films except GoldenEye

Remember folks. If you delete one film from the canon, it would affect and change every one that came after it. OHMSS was a response to YOLT, DAF a response to OHMSS, TSWLM a response to TMWTGG, FYEO a response to MR, TLD a response to AVTAK, GE a response to LTK and CR a response to DAD. Delete one, and the next film would be very different. For example, if YOLT had been deleted, I believe Blofeld would've probably been sending the Intruder Rocket from Piz Gloria in a 1967 OHMSS. Delete MR, and a 1979 FYEO probably would have been a sci-fi fantasy spectacle much as MR and TSWLM that immediately preceded it.

Your quotes are interesting but somewhat misguided.
OHMSS would have been a great follow up on Thunderball. After foiling the Spectre plot in Thunderball, Mi6 would be hot on the trail of Blofeld still at large...it would have not been such a plot flaw when Bond stands face to face with Blofeld in OHMSS (they had met in YOLT)
CR is not a response to DAD-the series was rebooted and CR is Bond first mission after gaining his 00 status. All that came before CR "never happened" in Craig's world...
MR brings nothing to the series and could have been eleminated. FYEO would have been a fine follow up to the over the top TSWLM
GE was not a response to LTK because it was as if they tried to pretend that Dalton's films never happened. the PTS was taking place in 1986 (prior to Dalton's assumming the role)

Truth! And the DAF masters should be encased in gold and kept as far away possible from @OHMSS69 ;-)

Just because something is "classic" doesn't mean it is good. This site and thread is opinion based as well mind you.

imo, goldfinger is a great bond film because without it we wouldn't have alot of bond traditions, and i think its just an enjoyable experience. Its not my fave connery outing but he's really at his best here.

And i know everybody has thier own opinions, I was just shocked how many would get rid of classic films like goldfinger and TSWLM.

I know it's not official canon but I wish NSNA didn't exist. But on topic I could quite easily live without Diamonds, View to A Kill and half of Die Another Day (the half that contains the infamous iceberg-surfing CGI disaster!). I still enjoy the much maligned Moonraker (Jaws romance scene excepted!)

This isn't really on topic, but NSNA is my fave connery film (I count it). And I still enjoy moonraker and i even don't care too much about the space thing, but they ruined jaws. If they hadn't ruined jaws's character then it would probably be my fave moore film.

• Look put an end to this debate, as said by someone else this is no more than a list of people favorite films in the serious. The worst films are the copycat bond films such as XXX, Auston powers, mission impossible and even the bourne films (although i like them in there own right) that try to be a bond film.

I'm still in shock over the desire for YOLT to be gone.

I would take out

Diamonds Are Forever
Tomorrow Never Dies
Die Another Day

Three Bond films that should of never been made.

**EDIT**

If AVTAK didn't have such a great soundtrack it would be gone.*

He is considered bad by Connery and Craig fans who made an effort(up until DAF for Sean) to be true to Fleming's creation and not have comedy hour for two hours a film like Moore.

Alright, I'll give you Austin Powers, but the other films you named do not try to be Bond films. I find it funny how someone can just take random spy films and immediately call them Bond clones with no rhyme or reason as to why. MI and Jason Bourne like Bond? No way jose.

Then I would discard YOLT and AVTAK because they add nothing new to the series and have limited entertainment value.

Stunning scores by John Barry and the best cinematography in the series (I'm talking about YOLT - courtesy of Freddie Young B.S.C.)?

That alone gives them more worth than TND, TWINE or QOS.

How were they not? xXx was geared as a mixed race Bond for the videogame generation, and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE completely screwed with the format of the original television series (teamwork) by turning it into a Tom Cruise vehicle. Ethan Hunt is basically an American 007.
• I wouldn't leave or omit any releases out simply on the basis that while I may have a disagreement with one or two, it won't necessarily be the same with someone else and why should any films be erased simply on the basis that anyone won't like them and others will and they delete ones that could be your own personal favorites, (going down another blind alley again I feel)

I think the best way I could put it, is that given the choice I would never want any erased, I'm a James Bond fan at the end of the day and appreciate how others feel about their own likes and dislikes. One man's Goldfinger is another man's Die Another Day etc

Ok, I'll do it, I would hmmm, leave out Goldfinger, Diamonds, Octopussy, A View To A Kill, Die Another Day and last but not least Quantum Of Solace

That's how I feel about it

So just because MI screwed with the series it is a Bond clone? What?! Hunt is in no way shape or form Bond like at all. He isn't charming with the ladies like Bond, he is a better fighter than all the Bonds but Craig, he can get married and stay married(he better still be in MI4 too), and his villains he faces aren't of the unrealistic calibre that Bond villains have been.

- Uses gadgets dispensed by a Q figure

- Drives fast sports cars

- Charming with the ladies (not in the same league as Bond but hey, who is?)

- Performs crazy stunts

- The films revolve around him

- Tries to settle down with his wife, but his family life's disturbed by the villains
• Bond redifined the spy genre when it came out in 1962, that all after have followed as a blueprint. Look at 60s spy series The Avengers, Danger man, mission impossible, the man from UNCLE etc, they all got on the bond bang wagon. Same with how movies have progressed in the spy genre they all reference bond as insperation.

Agreed. Just as long as the MR and YOLT masters can join them. ;)
• I actually watched Goldfinger again today after some time and am now in two thoughts over whether I was right in putting it in the trash

was I a bit hard on Connery on his third venture?, maybe , but I feel I should stick with my initial thoughts, I'll probably go back to berating it again by breakfast tomorrow

Really?! Those are your reasons? For one of course there will be crazy stunts performed. It's an action movie!!! And if Ethan is the MAIN CHARACTER obviously the films will revolve around him. Duh. Ethan drove a "fast sports car" in one scene in MI2 and hasn't had much luck with the ladies at all. While Bond has the hand in humping and dumping the women have equal hold on the relationship and don't let Ethan run all over them like the entranced Bond girls by James's charms. James's marriage ended in tragedy while Ethan's is still prosperous(we will see what MI4 holds). Ethan does get gadgets but his aren't the zany and sometimes unconventional ones Bond holds. There really isn't much relation between the two.

Dr No
Goldfinger
Yolt
LTK
(Die Another Day)

Why:

Starting with FRWL is not realy a problem, it wil settle Mi6 there relation with spectre. Blofeld said about take revenge on the death of Dr no you can see as something happend in the past.

With removing GF we go straight to Thunderball, TB look much on Dr No and FRWL and with removing Dr no it wil look more of frech movie and the FRWL looks are less of problem. Also the actor who playing Felix in TB wil be more on this place with no Dr no and no GF.

The problems about Blofeld i see more as a problem of Yolt. To at OHMSS after Thunderbal, Bond wil not see him earlier in OHMSS as Eon whant in the first place.

GE skip 9 years forward and whyle TLD is from 1987, you can also imagine it be from 1986 + 9 = 1995. In 9 years happend a lot.

The CR Cinematopgraphy and part of the storyline fit easy with Twine. With skipping Die Another Day 7 years have past: the Mi6 bulding be/is rebuld and we see at the beginning of CR Bond must get some trust back. The atack on Mi6, the death of Elektra and Robert King and 7 years lost years we a good reasen for Bond and M not feeling right. But i at Die Another Day between () with DAD you stil feel the same, but then also DAD be a result of the happenings in Twine. Moneypenny and Charles also not very well in DAD, stil 7 years have past since 1999 and Moneypenny and Charles quite. Bill Tanner Sr past a way and his son take over. The new Quatermaster (The offical meaning of Q.) not be so succesfoll and be fired in the mean time. After 19 years of absent Felix be back to bring Bond back on track and reasen for his absent be that James Bond not be seen for a whyle in America til 2006 and Felix having a private Life. In other words he take his job back because he feels he mist it. The last time he whas there be in AVTAK, the last mission Felix meet Bond be in TLD.
