    I don't know what it is, but I prefer this poster over the new "Mission: Impossible" poster:

    And in a way, I also prefer this one over the new "Mission: Impossible" poster:

    Why? Because these two posters don't use too much action sequences. They both are utterly stylish, they keep it simple, NOT boring, and they ooze a bit more mystery.

    My favourite "Mission Impossible" poster so far, has been this one:

    It's very stylish, it oozes some Arab/Exotic atmosphere. I love the sand colors.

    @Gustav That Skyfall poster is horrible imo. Seriously, that was the final poster for the 50th anniversary film. It's so uninspired and boring (and misleading, as the classic gunbarrel seen in the marketing was nowhere in the actual film). The CR one is ok but, like with Skyfall, Quantum and SP, the teaser was a million times better (that seems to be a trend for the Craig era, great teaser poster, then a bunch of substandard posters leading up to release).

    I don't like the Ghost Protocol one either. Seems really generic and dull. The new MI poster is alright, I like how it actually conveys a sense of action and excitement. The teaser poster was better though imo, where it showed him hanging off the plane.

    There is, but one then has to visit arthouse movies in smaller theatres a bit more often. The problem is, not all poster art lends itself particularly well for action oriented movies:

    I wouldn't consider 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' or 'Under the Skin' action-oriented at all. The former fits the director's usual motif, in fact.

    As for that 'Ant-Man' poster, that's a mess no matter what genre film it is. Lazy marketing.

    What I meant to say was this: Usually the most beautiful movie posters aren't action blockbusters. Take the poster for "The Grand Budapest Hotel". It simply wouldn't work to just have the Casino Royale on front of a poster in a similar kind of way.

    Prefer cinema art posters myself, Rogue Nation poster looks like many other generic posters.

    Thanks for that @Murdock. Did you make that? It's great, mysterious, creative, a million times better than the crap we've gotten for posters since LTK (there have been some exceptions though, like the CR teaser poster, and I'm fond of the GE one too). I wish we could have something like that advertising SPECTRE instead of just literally Bond standing against a plain background.

    @Gustav_Graves I wouldn't call The Interview a "cinematic gem". Honestly the whole Sony hack fiasco was the best thing that could've ever happened to that movie because it generated loads of buzz and interest for what was actually a pretty shit film. And I didn't go into it expecting another Team America like some people did either, I wasn't expecting hard hitting satire or anything. I knew it was gonna be a dumb comedy, but based off the people involved and the films they'd made in the past (Superbad, Pineapple Express, This Is The End, all great) I was expecting it to actually be a funny dumb comedy, and it wasn't. Very disappointing film imo.

    Thank you @Gustav_Graves. I've been trying to make a career out of it but I've been so busy with other things lately. I have more Bond related posters here. Some aren't my best, but it was a fun project none the less.

    From my perspective, MI4 was action, action, action, although all of it was very well done.

    I personally found SF to be more atmospheric than all the MI films except for De Palma's first, but then for me, atmosphere is bordering on noirish.....with a quieter, less frenzied feel, and more obvious, deliberative, framed compositions, something I thought SF gave us courtesy of Deakins.

    I fully agree. I mean, "Skyfall" has a certain 'atmosphere' that makes me rewatch the film over and over again. I simply don't have that with the "Mission: Impossible" films.

    Yes, the blue neonlit Shanghai and brownish Macao, give SF a great atmosphere. But for me - that's only icing on the cake.

    Look at how well they handled Shanghai in MI:3 for example, and compare with SP. Except some establishing shots, every single scene in SF is shot back in the UK. I kind of expected more, when the news about "Bond will go to China" broke, at the SF press conference.

    I don't want the Bond-movies to turn into a Pinewood backlot series. I want Bond on real locations. Like Ethan Hunt.

    Fair points. I think there were some budget issues with SF, after QoS didn't do so well (from a net margin perspective). If I'm, not mistaken, SP will deliver with location work.

    BTW - I still think Shanghai was done better in SF (in terms of the way they used the limited location work to best advantage.....sort of a 'less is more' kind of thing). I just really was immersed in the atmosphere of it all more in SF.

    Having said that, I think TDK did Hong Kong better than either SF or MI3 did Shanghai.

    I think it's my age, but I'm looking more forward to "UNCLE" and "SPECTRE". Don't understand me wrong, I'm gonna like this film! But, well, I dunno...

    Has anyone else noticed that they are billing this as an action film, and yet all the action in any of the trailers/TV spots comes from about two scenes? There's the big car/motorcycle chase and then a couple fistfight/scuffles (at the opera and when Ethan is tied to the chair). This does not look like an action-heavy movie AT ALL, and yet that's how they're marketing it. I have a feeling this is going to be more of a spy/espionage movie but the studio is afraid that won't get butts in the seats, so they make it look like an action film.

    I could be wrong, of course!
