Problem he is another one who is too darn short. I remember all the controversy that came with Craig's height. Not sure they'll go for someone noticeably shorter.

I still say give Jason Isaacs one shot. He's 51 now, but to me he looks just like Fleming's idea of Bond.

Back in the early 2000s I would have said oh yes! Now he is simply too old.

I like him alot but would much sooner see him play the part of the villain. Always remember him as the baddie in "The Patriot! opposite Mel Gibson. What a fantastic movie!

Give him white hair and a make up to look uglier and Jason Isaacs could play Blofeld (based on his OHMSS look).

No way! He's younger than Roger was in TSWLM!!

Oh well, at least he got to play a Bond-like character in The Tuxedo... ;))

I am not sure if you are serious. Moore was an exception, he looked younger than he was, worked in a different time when you could still make a Bond every year AND he did not start playing Bond in 1977.

I am. Ever since I saw The Tuxedo, I'd wished for him to do just one Bond. Just one. Is that too much to ask?

    :P
  • There was a time when I thought that if Dan Stevens was to have a film career, it would probably be as a floppy haired Hugh Grant clone. I certainly would never have regarded him as a possible Bond contender. Fair play to him then for seeking out edgier fare than Downton Abbey and reinventing himself as a leaner, toned leading man who does menace rather well. He seems well placed to be the next Bond - he's the right age, has the right level of fame, is a versatile actor, and is already part of the Bond family. (Via the Casino Royale audio book).

    Watching Godzilla right now.

Don't know if he's been mentioned previously but what are everyone's thoughts on Aaron Taylor-Johnson? He'd be 29 in 5 years time.

Henry Lloyd-Hughes has an almost perfect look for the part. Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be a bit young, but he looks older, a la Connery or Lazenby.

Matthew Lewis will be 31 in 2020, and he'd be a fine choice if only his hairline holds out (and yes, yes, Bond doesn't take selfies, please suspend disbelief):

Hey it's Kick-Ass! At a brief glance he looked like Tom Hardy. He might do- let's see how he looks in a few years

Tom Hardy might work. Like Craig, he's a terrific actor. And by the time Craig leaves, Hardy will be of the right age. He should lose the beard though. ;-)

Tom Hardy had too much of a thuggish vibe, however,i'd have no objections to him as another 00 or a villain. I still think Dominic Cooper would make a good Bond:

I though his performance was one of the better aspects of Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond.

No, no and no to all of the above.

Someone I am not sure could have played Bond, but I have always been curious about how he would have turned out is Dominic West. Maybe his hair was too curly I don't know. He is too old now anyway.

But look at this scene in The Wire. Okay, he plays a working class Irish American cop and he does not belong to the suit, but it does have some faint Bondian ring to:

    Nope.
  • Scott Adkins would be my #1 pick after Craig is done.

Adkins' acting ability is just below subpar. He's a great fighter, is in impeccable shape but Bond isn't for him. He'd make a great henchman though.

I had to look up who Scott Adkins is.

I can't deny he has absolutely the right look. If he had the acting ability as well he'd be awesome but I haven't seen him in anything and his résumé is fairly unimpressive.
  • I've wanted Adkins as Batman for years, but you're right about his acting ability. He's just 'ok'. However you can't deny his unbelievable talents in other fields

Going by these suggestions, its interesting to see, whom men would pick. As a woman though, very few would get a second look from me. Really Jason Issacs would get my vote (sure, he is too old, just look wise) Others are plein boring looking or too pretty IMO. Maybe Dominic West in SOME pics, in others no, bbut he will deffo be too old. Dominic Cooper for example is not attractive at all and wouldn't have the women swooning over him, which - still - is part of the job, right? All just my two, of course, and open to calling it b***s***.But IMO manliness should come over being young.Very few young actors have that certain "it" and how can they? You have to grow into it...

Adkins may be too old to succeed to Craig, he is already 38. I think the next Bond actor will be in his 30s when cast.

Dominic West auditioned as James Bond!
West was first linked to the 007 job back in October 2004, but he is now ruling himself out.

"My audition went well, but I've since heard rumours that Pierce Brosnan got it. It's old hat now, anyway, and besides, I'm enjoying working in the theatre".

He wasn't in the final three list - that was reported as Daniel Craig, Henry Cavill and Sam Worthington - so I don't think Mr West had much chance of securing the role.

I don't think the look of the next Bond actor is going to be so important. In theory it could be any actor... well, as long as he's reasonably tall, in good condition, not too old and not extraordinarily unappealing in looks! Bound to be some new guys appearing by the time Craig retires from the role. :)

Had Moore left after MR, I would have loved to see Ray Lonnen as Bond, especially in FYEO.

My #1 for the next Bond is Matthew Lewis, of Harry Potter fame.

My #2, I do believe, is now Charlie Cox (the new Netflix Daredevil):

  • Sorry @JWESTBROOK, but NO! I can't imagine one of them in this role. I think they just don't fit.
  • It will be a fight between Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbander.
