Folks we're getting a little off topic here. This isn't about the film makers and what they've said or done.

    2. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963)
    3. ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE (1969)/
    CASINO ROYALE (2006) - tie
    5. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977)
    6. DR. NO (1962)
    7. LIVE AND LET DIE (1973)
    8. THUNDERBALL (1965)
    9. GOLDENEYE (1995)
    10. SKYFALL (2012)
    11. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967)
    12. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999)
    13. LICENCE TO KILL (1989)
    14. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981)
    15. THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987)

    19. TOMORROW NEVER DIES (1997)
    20. A VIEW TO A KILL (1985)
    21. OCTOPUSSY (1983)
    22. MOONRAKER (1979)
    23. DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002)

Now as much as I know you dislike OP, and of course it ranks highly with me (Mostly due to the eight year old boy who saw it, and was one of my first Bonds along with TSWLM I had seen) I must say our lists are quite similar. Top order and lower order are surprisingly alike.

You're not a Hulk fan, and I guess you don't fancy TND. Fine. Running SMASH joke over. No more running jokes. Funny isn't funny here, clearly. Or maybe my idea of funny is crap.
Go ahead, tell M what you like. If he bans me, I'll thank him for it. :))

How far back do I go to see your latest rankings Benny? I'd like to check it out.

Well this is the last list I've done a couple of months ago.
    1. Octopussy
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3. The Living Daylights
    4. From Russia With Love
    5. Casino Royale
    6. Doctor No
    7. The Spy Who Loved Me
    8. Thunderball
    9. Skyfall
    10. Live And Let Die
    11. Licence To Kill
    12. For Your Eyes Only
    13. You Only Live Twice
    14. Goldfinger
    15. Tomorrow Never Dies
    16. The World Is Not Enough
    17. GoldenEye
    18. A View To A Kill
    19. Moonraker
    20. Quantum Of Solace
    21. Diamonds Are Forever
    22. The Man With The Golden Gun
    23. Die Another Day

Though to be fair, I feel I've been overly harsh on GF.
I think I'd switch LALD and GF. Or move GF upto 10, and move all the others a place lower.
Either way DN,FRWL,TB,OHMSS,CR and TSWLM all make our top ten.
And DAD, MR, AVTAK, TND, DAF, TMWTGG and QOS all make the bottom of the our ranking.
I'm not sure why I moved GF so far down. I sometimes forget when these films were made. And for 50 years old, it still entertains.
GoldenEye is one I've never really fallen for. It has its moments, but it was too big a change for me after growing up with the formula style of the John Glen movies of the 80's. I must confess I do smile during the tank chase. It's so over the top and stupid. But it's only in a Bond film where you can roar around St.Petersburg in a tank!

I love GoldenEye. For me it's leagues better than the other Brosnan films (I enjoy TWINE though); I thought Brosnan did well, and Alec was terrific. I always have a lot of fun with it; if you ask me, it's easily one of the series' classics / best.

EDIT: I want to add I also used to not like it as much; not sure why, but I've come to love it over the last couple years though.

Good grief....looking at my previous rankings from 2011 make me very confused. What in the world was up with me? My rankings were all over the place! At one time I had OHMSS at #14 and TWINE at #22. That makes zero sense!

I'm getting the itch for another month of nothing but Bond films again. It's been over 6 months since the last time I did so and 4 months since I've seen a Bond film period. My rankings seem to change a little every time. I'm really excited to get going.

@mirandafrost interesting ranking but welcome here! Nice to see TND getting some appreciation and I like your TB and GE spots.

  • Sorry dude, personally I only go on this site every once in awhile. But you really cant go wrong with that film, that opening sequence with the parachute as well as the theme for the movie are just classic Bond. Don't know how someone cant have that film in the top ten, also Barbara Bach was an amazing Bond girl in that film.

I really like TSWLM but I do think Bach is a bit dodgy. Thankfully Moore and the well written character of Anya save her.

I'm doing mine next month; all 23 officials, ranking as I go along. I'm pretty sure a couple of the films will switch places in my ranking, mostly in the middle section.

Yup, mine always do switch some! Slowly but surely though things are starting to solidify and settle a bit, but there's always a few that move around quite a bit which is (usually) a pleasant surprise. I rarely enjoy a Bond film LESS than I did the previous time. So it's nice to enjoy some MUCh more than I did previously.

Do you watch them in order? I usually go out of order to keep things fresh .

The last time I did it I did it out of order, but I think this marathon (like most of mine) will be in order. I think that's the easiest way for me to make sure I rank them as best as I can too. It's also really cool seeing all the ways the series evolved from the beginning to the present, through 6 different Bonds and the changing times.

Posting up my 2013 ranked list for some reference as I've started my way through this April/May Bondathon. The dashes signify a bit of a "tier gap" so to speak.

    23. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (1974)
    22. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999)
    21. ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (1969)
    20. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967)
    19. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981)
    18. DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002)
    17. MOONRAKER (1979)
    16. LICENCE TO KILL (1989)
    15. QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008)
    14. A VIEW TO A KILL (1985)
    13. OCTOPUSSY (1983)
    12. TOMORROW NEVER DIES (1997)
    11. LIVE AND LET DIE (1973)
    10. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971)
    09. THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987)
    08. SKYFALL (2012)
    07. GOLDFINGER (1964)
    06. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977)
    05. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963)
    04. GOLDENEYE (1995)
    03. THUNDERBALL (1965)
    02. DR. NO (1962)
    01. CASINO ROYALE (2006)

Ranking the Bond film is truly a difficult task as I love just about all of them. It's a nice struggle to have, I suppose. I already know a couple of which are going to be moving a bit.
