    Wow! This is a great ballad!!! So powerful and 'Bondian' yet surprisingly fresh and with a great incorporation of the title in the lyrics. Love the orchestration!!!! Superb stuff. I'm all worked up now.

    I'm truly happy for the song - not just for Adele and company but also for James Bond in general. It has been far too long since a GOOD Bond song has gotten this much of a public reaction. It's a hit.

    My internet went down before midnight so I've only just been able to listen to it.

    Not brilliant but better than I was expecting. A million times better than DAD or AWTD, but not up there with LALD, YKMN and OHMSS imo.

    I feel like I'm alone here but I would've actually preferred the Muse song. Still, this gets the job done.

    Gave a listen on You Tube...twice

    Love it. The first good Bond theme by a female since Tina Turner's Goldeneye. It has the traditional sound that's been lacking from the last few Bond films. The lyrics seem like it parallel the film's theme with standing together despite what's going on around you. The music blended in brilliantly with Adele's vocals, yet didn't overtake Adele. I didn't mind the backup vocals. Adele has joined Shirley Bassey, Nancy Sinatra, Carly Simon and Tina Turner in providing us a classic main theme by a female artist.

    I can't find any faults with this song after two listens. I don't know where Adele will end up in my rankings, but I do know that I have a new entry in My Top 10 themes.

    I agree, but I don't have a problem musically. I can feel the emotion from the chorus because it screams Bond all over it: It's a Bond theme song by numbers. Allthough at this point I wouldn't rank it among the very best (Live And Let Die, Nobody Does It Better, Diamonds Are Forever, YOLT, Casino Royale). Purely because of the bad production. It should sound much smaller/tighter together with the voice of Adele instead of this enormous wide and bland sound where everything gets lost somewhat.

    I think this song will fit the whole mood of the film, and that's what counts. It is still a themesong anyway. :-)

    Has it been confirmed yet that the theme song is going to be included this time on the soundtrack album unlike Casino Royale which for some reason (legal I presume) left Chris Cornell's belter off it?

    Meh, was expecting better from Adele. It seems repetitive and just needs to go somewhere and get big and loud which it does before slowing back down again. Disappointed but I'm sure that'll change once I hear it in the cinema

    Edit: LeChiffre I assume/hope it will be on the soundtrack as she doesn't have a new album out.

    Just caught the whole version. Very good and there is a smoky resonance to the chateuse of Tottenham's voice that suits Bond.

    The choir lifts it and the orchestration. Its not quite as muscular as the punch between the eyes YKMN - but still a worthy entry.

    I always try to see things positive, but I´m very much underwhelmed.
    This totally reminds me of TND and TWINE, a Bond song era I thought we had ruefully left behind.
    Adele does have a stunning voice, yet having heard songs like Fire to the Rain from her, she sounds weirdly restrained on this one.

    I understand that many people disliked AWTD, but that song at least didn´t sound like a lame attempt, unlike this one.

    Yeah, she does sound restrained. I really liked the TWINE song when it first came out but it's not the sort of song that stays with you and I suspect Skyfall might be the same. I do like (not love) Skyfall but I'm wondering how long it will take to tire of it. TWINE didn't take too long.

    License To Kill and The Living Daylights are two post Moore Bond songs that I love and have never got sick of.

    This song is surprisingly really great to do a work out to. I banged out some weights and was on the treadmill for 40 mins with this song looped. It really gets me pumped.

    I wouldn't call it a lame attempt. She played it safe without going over the top. Indeed she did sound restraint when compared to her previous songs she did, but her high pitch sounded just about perfect for this particular song.

    Okay just watched the music vid and downloaded the mp3 from Amazon (screw itunes). My comments:

    - Great music and instrumentals
    - Good backup vocals
    - Crappy lyrics (way too repetitive, I don't think any film's title has been repeated nearly as many times in the title song before. Not to mention the annoying use of the word "crumble" to rhyme with "Skyfall")

    I hope Arnold comes back for the next film and writes the title song. When artists write their own Bond songs alone, the result is often less than spectacular (unless the artist is Paul McCartney). You Know My Name is still the best song of the Craig era.

    i haven't been able to stop listening to the song since i got it... IMO, it's everything that a Bond theme should be, but not cliche' enough that it gets boring.... it harkens back to a Bassey / Tom Jones era - it feels classic, but at the same time, new... while i do agree that Adele does seemed a little restrained - as i was expecting a big Bassey "Diamonds Are Forever" style finish at the end because of the way it was building up - i dont feel it hurts the song in any way.... it's vocally (IMO) the best since Bassey's "Moonraker"...... but i can't help feeling like it's missing something?.. can't put my finger on what though - oh well..... i wonder if the song will sound the same during the film, or if it will be tweeked by Newman at all... kind of like how Arnold included more strings and horns in 'You Know My Name' - which made the film version sound noticeably different than the official single released before the film..

    on my list of personal favorites.. if i had to rank it right now, it would go..

    Heaven forbid the song's title appear in the chorus.... shock and gasp.... they clearly are novices at what they do....

    and you are clearly forgetting about Madonna's 'Die Another Day' - where Die Another Day was just not repeated in the chorus - but throughout the whole friggin' song!.... you want to talk about crappy lyrics, to a repetitive crappy song, there ya go..

    I think it's rather bold to say we leave an entire 'Bond era' by using a specific music sound or song for a Bond film. Why does the Craig Bond era so forcefully need to distance itself from all its predecessors. I find that like....ignoring the best elements of Bond.

    Moreover, just a song doesn't mean we end up with Danny Craig's own silly, cartoon-ish 'Die Another Day' or 'Moonraker'. Off course, 'Skyfall' will look and feel like a more traditional Bond film. And it is because of the 50 year anniversary also. But I firmly believe the Bond producers try hard to gradually bring back that traditional Bond feel, in a nuanced way. Not in an overblown way like with 'Die Another Day'.

    That's why I prefer this Bond-film to be Danny Craig's 'Thunderball', instead of the uncontrolled and rather bold comparisons with the worst Bond films 'Die Another Day' and 'Moonraker'.

    Ok, so it wasn't that bad. But the song could have done with a few less Skyfall's. It was not as noticeable in the preview clip.
