That's right. Bond 50 is a flip case design. There's even videos of it online of people going through it when it was displayed at Comic-Con.

So the blu-rays within the 'set' will be the same size as current blu-ray cases, correct? I'm still slightly confused.

    Sad news for me.

Amazon.co.uk updated the BOND 50 subtitles info and there are no Greek subs.

I have to cancel my order, which is a shame as it was an unbelievable deal! :(

Really, what a shame? Where can I see it if there's Portuguese subs?

@marketto007, click on the link above, it should lead you to the BOND 50 page of Amazon.co.uk. Then look for the subs info on the detailed description of each disc.

It seems most of the films have Portuguese subtitles, but not all of them.
Which is quite weird. It probably means the info is not 100% complete, right? Maybe there's still hope for Greek subs...

Yes, let's hope @gt007. But tell me, FOX won't be releasing BOND 50 in Greece?

To tell you the truth, I've no idea, @marketto007.

Blu-Rays are not very popular here. Definitely not as much as DVDs are.
I suppose Blu-Ray box sets are even less popular. So they might think that it's a waste of money to make a Greek release...

But that's exactly why they should put Greek subs in the European release. This way, the box set will be bought by everyone who'd buy it without them, plus some people from Greece. They win even more.

It's not like they have to redo them or anything, they've got the subs from previous releases.

No cases. Discs slip into pockets in the stiff cardboard pages - there are three books in a slipcase to make up the boxset.

@Lancaster007, shame, looks like I'll skip on the blu-ray set, then. I'm OCD about my cases.

Judging by the lacklustre confirmed features for CR mark my word, a seperate issue is on the cards.
My pre order for Bond 50 is subject to change ( at least two days before release anyway). That new documentary would have been the perfect bonus disc as opposed to numerous montages you could see anyday of the week on Youtube! :-(

Yeah, I'll have to pass on this and pick up the blu-rays one at a time. It's going to cost a bit more, but I just hate the thought of opening up slips/booklets for the blu-ray every time. Doesn't appeal to me, I want my blu-ray redesign cases like they just released the artwork for. Shame, would have made a great Christmas gift.

There's still a glimmer of hope for me!

I contacted the Greek distributor who confirmed the BOND 50 Blu-Ray box set will be released in Greece in late September. Its price is still unknown, but it's fair to assume it'll be higher than Amazon.co.uk's price.

I think there's still a chance the European version of the box set, the one sold by Amazon.co.uk, has Greek subtitles. I need to contact its distributor to confirm.
Does anyone know how to contact them?

    Thanks in advance guys.
  • Hi. Apologies in advance if I missed this in an earlier posting, but will the Bond 50 BD set contain a commemorative booklet as well?

No word on this yet but I'd say it's likely.

Could anyone please tell me who's releasing the BOND 50 Blu-Ray box set in Europe? I need to contact them to get some info on the subtitles.

Is it 20th Century Fox? I tried their website, but BOND 50 is not in their catalogue...

Does anyone know anything that could help me?

  • My understanding is that the region B release will contain dubbing/subtitles for a significant number of languages and is the reason it won't be carrying a 2.0 mono soundtrack. I'll be buying the region A.

Apparently Play.com is getting exclusive steelbooks of GoldenEye:

They look awesome! Hope all movies get this treatment, and they get this release in The Netherlands as well.

EDIT: There was a vote on Play.com on which of the two covers they would use, and it became to official Poster. I really liked the other one (with just Brosnan) as well, but oh well....

Wow...that is beautiful. I wonder if I can get that GE steelbook in America somehow. I'll pay whatever it takes, honestly.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, :) absolutely. I instantly checked Play to see if I could pre-order it, but forgot it was a site based in the UK. I really hope it makes its way to American hands, somehow. I need that.

So I wonder if other services like Amazon or what have you will have their own exclusive Bond steelbook? That would be cool.

That's what I was thinking, as I just couldn't see a full steelbook being created for only one site; they should introduce them to a much larger audience, as I'm dying to own one.

    Thanks @gt007.
  • I am not sure if it was mentioned before, but the French Amazon site is offering three blu-ray box sets -- each containing all the bond movies of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan, respectively. The best deal, of course, is still to buy the Bond 50 set from the British site. However, as the French boxes seem to come with English sound, they represent an alternative worthwhile to consider for anyone who is a fan of any of the three actors and does not wish to buy all 22 films.

The Brosnan set currently sells for EUR 29.99 -- the other two for EUR 49.99 each. I have not seen such blu-ray sets advertised on the German, UK or US Amazon sites.

If you're getting the Blu-ray Discs, no.
