Because audiences in 2021 were smart enough to understand what "James Bond Will Return" at the end of the movie meant.
I suppose you could say (as Bond once did) "Don't think, just let it happen".
Which I think is probably good advice in this instance!
No need for the snotty posts guys. I've not had a dig at anyone, at least try and treat me the same.
I think were safe from that. Killing Bond was a Craig idea and it was one of the things that got him back for NTTD.
The credits should have read:
James Bond Will Return*

I didn't make a snotty remark, or aimed my comment at you, @ColonelAdamski. I stand by what I wrote, though. People have experience nowadays with film series presenting different iterations / versions / ... of a literary / popular character. They "got it" when James Bond was only just beginning in 2006, even though he had been surfing waves as 007 four years before that. They'll "get it" when James Bond, who died in 2021, kicks off a different era in the film series some time soon. It's going to be even cleaner than in superhero stuff, where a dead character can actually come back through magic or fancy science fiction in the same era. It's just the start of a new era. It's happened elsewhere too, and audiences hardly care, especially with a at least half a decade, if not more, between these two eras.
Except your post was clearly mocking me, so, there's that.
They forgot about it soon after it was released.
So you've always known Bond 25 is NTTD. Interesting! :D
Between Bond fans? Yeah, but then again Never Say Never Again is talked about by us, doesn't mean it has a strong position in culture today.
Whenever I see ordinary film fans discussing Bond nowadays it's usually Goldeneye, Casino Royale or Skyfall. I don't think average film fans remember much of the Connery or Moore films by name, and the last two films have already blended together in people's minds. If you were to ask "what's the Bond film where he falls in love with Madeline?" most people wouldn't have a clue.
Can we look forward? ;)
It’s kind of true- Craig was announced as Bond 20 years ago today: imagine when you were a kid, were you interested in movie heroes from twenty years before?
Yes, many current viewers were not even born.
As for going into the new era after Craig's, I think it's easy to try and underplay the fact that he was Bond for so long, and a fair few have grown up with him playing the part. That's something not all franchises or characters have. For better or worse many have an attachment to him as Bond, and like every other actor who took the role, he has a legacy (arguably one that's more on the significant side). Not saying audiences will dwell on him or reject the next actor instantly because he's not Craig - the gap and clean slate will help, and I don't think this is a Superman situation where angry Craig fans will get wound up. But I'm sure some casual fans will compare the next actor to his predecessor, whether that's positively or negatively. It's what viewers do.
Things will move on, but the past is always there. Again, my advice: "Don't think, just let it happen".
I agree, it won't. Yes, the last film came out a while ago. Again, I don't think we're getting a Snyder fan situation. But people don't just forget about previous Bonds or their films if they've watched them. For better or worse with a franchise like Bond that gets different incarnations/actors, the natural tendency is to compare them to what's come before, even if briefly. It is what it is. I'm sure the next actor will come into their own though.
Anyway, all I'm saying is when Bond 26 comes out, don't be surprised if someone you know, or indeed some folks on here, compare it to the Craig films (again, positively or negatively). Or any other previous Bond film/actor. In fact with Amazon taking over I think we'll see some people comparing their first effort to EON's output. It's just what people do, even if simply as a way of getting to grips with what they thought of the film or new actor.
It doesn't have to be a bad thing by the way. When The Batman came out people I know readily compared it to The Dark Knight/Nolan's films, and indeed Pattinson to Bale. Different films and depictions of the character with noticeable similarities. Some preferred one or the other. All stand on their own.
10 - 15 years from now there will be teens who have only ever known the Amazon Bond, and for whom everything to do with EON is just known as "the old stuff".
Sure. I suppose all we can do is wait and see how this film is received and by who. And like most of these things I don't think it'll be a clear cut, unanimous picture (even if this film is a massive hit financially and/or critically there'll still be audiences who won't like it for whatever reasons).
The classic era of Bond lasted 33 years then came the handover to Barbara, and the fact that Bond stopped smoking was symbolic. It's worth noting that 33 years later we're going through another handover of creative teams, and a new lease of life into the franchise.
@007HallY I don't know how big the movie will be, but one thing we can all be certain of that Amazon will put on a marketing blitz to rival Tron Legacy or the Star Wars sequel trilogy. It will be wall to wall, and even worse for us fans with the targeted ads. I really, really hope that the movie can live up to that level of fever-pitch hype, but few films usually can.
No doubt they'll hype up this film. I hope it does well. I'm fully prepared for many fans, and a portion of audiences, to not get along with it though. That's kind of the trade off when you hire a director like Denis Villeneuve. He'll make a Bond film, but they've not hired a director like that to make a by the numbers, Force Awakens equivalent of a 007 adventure. Or even something fully like TND or MR (all of which is I'm sure what a portion of Bond fans and even audiences want). I'm sure it'll be exceptionally crafted and will have a lot of the recognisable Bond tropes though.
