The next Bond has to be debonair and that's what I see a lot in B Radcliffe, he seems like a good balance. Only problem is can he act?

As I say, I just watched him for half and hour and I would say... he's not great. Maybe he's improving but his imdb isn't really filling up which doesn't inspire much confidence.

    Details, details… 😂

I get the feeling that Knight would be in favour of Ben as Bond, even if Villeneuve isn't.

What are you basing that assumption on?
That crystal ball of yours is working overtime.

Probably partly because he seems like he could easily play a part on SAS Rogue Heroes. Knight strikes me as someone who is more in tuned with what the regular working punter is looking for, that's why he talks at length about respecting the legacy and being true to the character.

I think it’s tempting trying to see what we want to in certain actors. All it comes down to is if they can actually play the part and bring something interesting to it.

That’s a shame. The other lesser known actor I mentioned (and I think you have too) is Archie Renaux. I think there’s something interesting about him, but I’d have to see more from him too.

Yes, I've only seen him in that Alien film and I thought he was promising, if not super strong.
I think Radcliffe might stand a chance of turning out improved, that Disney play I just watched was very poor. Steven Macintosh was in it, and he's a fairly reliable actor, but was like a comedy character in it.

My favourite is probably still Aaron Pierre, as if folks are wanting alpha male and presence he just drips in it and is a ready-made film star. He does have a superhero TV show but I don't know if that would be a problem.

I like Renaux, but he’s one of those actors that, so far, is a bit more charismatic in interviews than when he’s playing a part. I was won over by him watching the interviews and group chats for Shadow and Bone , but I think he made less impact in the show than some of the other actors. This might simply be the part, though (his was one of the least interesting characters, imo), and he was never bad. He was fine in Alien: Romulus, too. He could do with a meaty role where he is not just the boyfriend of the protagonist. I wouldn’t be upset if he was cast as Bond, but he hasn’t shown any reason to get excited by the idea, either. Somewhat ironically, I find him very reminiscent of Clive Owen (who I was in favour of becoming Bond, back pre-Craig).

I thought he was very promising in Alien too, but I’d like to see more. He’s more on the younger side but I did get a confidence from him during interview clips I’ve seen of him for that film. Quite a good looking guy but with an interesting face if that makes sense. Good voice and even a bit of gravitas I found. I suppose one to keep an eye on. He makes more sense to me than many of the names I’ve seen, but we’ll see. There’d inevitably be a bit of backlash towards him (not sure of his ethnicity but I guess he’s mixed race. I can easily see him being considered though).

I find Aaron Pierre a bit too much on the hulking, Jack Reacher side (maybe better for a henchman than Bond) but he’s a pretty good actor.

I can see what you mean about preferring him in interviews. He’s quite early in his career though, so you never know. I think he’s worth keeping an eye on.

If they are only going for actors with time on their side then it has to be Ben Radcliffe. If not then it gets more complicated, but there aren't many great options out there to be fair.

Considering you hadn't heard of him before this morning, that seems a stretch!

Or he is the elusive “ unknown “ that so many hope for.

That speaks to the options out there at the moment, it's slim!

He's one of the first guys I've seen (especially younger) that has that Bond glint in his eye.

Based on what? You haven't seen him act yet, have you?

I'm dubious though. Bond isn't a modelling assignment.
But maybe he's better in other stuff, I'll keep an open mind.

@Mendes4Lyfe , I’m growing quite concerned about the health of your legs… All this jumping on and off of bandwagons. Please be careful, you’re going to hurt yourself one of these days.

No doubt I’ve been guilty of that! It’s very much out of our hands ;)

And honestly, just be glad it’s not a decision any of us will be in charge of! Sounds stressful making that call.

Regarding Ben Radcliffe's acting ability, as I said in my original post, I've only ever seen him in Anatomy Of A Scandal in which he played the younger version of Rupert Friend's character. I thought he was very good in it and was intrigued enough to look for his name in the credits. His role can be seen here - (Warning: adult scenes including a rape).

However, it's his casting in Netflix's version of the The Age Of Innocence that has really caught my eye and led to me examining his Bond potential. It's a role that's a notch up from what he's been doing recently and requires serious acting chops. Unfortunately for Radcliffe Bond may be cast before this comes out.

    Yes. It has to be.
