Who should/could be a Bond actor?

Dickinson actually has a decent physique anyway (he’s quite lean in Triangle of Sadness - maybe not bulked out and very much a ‘swimmer’s body’, but honestly, that’s what Fleming’s Bond was meant to look like, and I’m sure he’d prepare physically if cast).

Yeah, that's what he needs just a moderate filling out.

I’m sure if he lifted weights and ate chicken and fish or whatever he’d gain a bit more muscle. But he seems tall, fit, and has a naturally good physique anyway. Don’t know how athletic he is, but I know he was a skateboarder so I’m going to guess he’s somewhat used to exercise. I’m pretty sure he’s trained hard for a number of his roles (he’s pretty much all muscle in Postcards From London - again, he’s not Arnold Schwarzenegger, but if cast I suspect he’d be in better shape anyway than most of the other Bonds. I think he’s got a better physique already than Brosnan and Dalton when they were Bond, and we often forget Connery and Moore were sucking in their guts by film three).

Didn't Terence Young say it was by film 2? :D
Yeah a bit of filling out would probably happen: Brosnan and Craig both did it.

I think Dickinson needs broader shoulders, but that happens to all the actors named here.

I'm sure the next Bond will do his homework.

I think Dickinson will work, and although nowhere near who I would personally choose, it's slim pickings these days, and I would have nothing against his casting.

Villeneuve only hires movie stars for his big parts, so I think Dickinson is a prime candidate in that he will have the marketability that Amazon are looking for. Dickinson attracts a big female demographic, and is very informative vogue in the Hollywood circles but he doesn't have a star role yet. The problem is he is scheduled to shoot 4 Beatles movies in the next couple years, so it would certainly mean a delay or holding off on production temporarily for Bond. They can't start filming until their star in available.

We’ll see. I can understand some being skeptical about him as Bond, and I’m not saying it’ll be him, but he’s a very good actor (one of the best younger British ones about), and has presence. None of us know how he’d approach it in regards to an audition anyway. If it feels right in that context, I think they’ll go for him.

Well, I'm inclined to believe that's the sort of person they're looking for simply because they keep mentioning how they want a bold creative swing and to take big risks. He seems like the kind of guy to want to take it in his own direction. If that's the kind of vision that Villeneuve, Knight and the producers are all in agreement on, then it would appear to be a perfect fit given Dickinsons already huge appeal with the female demographic.

But, again, the big hiccup I can see is what that would mean for actually getting to film the thing, and getting schedules to line up. So far Amazon have been very patient to allow enough time for the right pieces to fall into place. Question is will they be patient enough to accommodate Dickinson?

I would want someone who shines in the audition. Campbell said Cavills audition was tremendous.

Amazon has money, it doesn't need to be patient. If they want to have Dickinson badly, they just have to write a check.

But he's already signed to play John Lennon in 4 Beatles films. Are you saying they would pay to get him out?

If it takes too long to start filming, I don't think it's necessary. Actors need to work.

Nah, they're already rehearsing those, it's happening. Personally I don't think they'd wait for him, but who knows.

A good point. I could see Amazon waiting for an actor they have already established as Bond (much as Eon did with Craig), but not necessarily at the beginning of the actor's run.

It's going to depend more on the writer and director, the vision they are planning for this Bond, or when the script is ready to film. I don't think Villeneuve shoots unfinished scripts (as happened several times with Eon), but I could be wrong.

The top talent (DiCaprio is one) doesn't shoot unfinished scripts. I'd put Villeneuve in that same category, even moreso if he wins the Oscar for Dune 3 (his Return of the King?).

Somehow I can't see Villeneuve and Knight easily meshing their styles. I think Villeneuve will take Knights script and do his own draft of it, to tailor it for the film he wants to make, similar to how P+W would be brought in to rewrite a script.

It’s so frustrating that for some unknown reason I can no longer post photos, it’s so strange, but if I could I would post side by side photos of Bond from “ 007 First Light” and Leo Suter. Not that it means anything but Suter looks like a slightly older, more rugged version of the Bond featured in the game.

If the new film is supposed to take place some time after the game having a similar looking Bond would make for a nice sense of continuity.
