I find Turners screen presence or lack there of to be a factor for me as why he’s not high on my list for Bond number 7.
I have to agree with that mate.
I like Glen Powell too, but I think both him and Butler are too recognisable to be Felix. Jeffrey Wright was a bit more under the radar and perfectly cast in 2006
Personally, I'd be very interesting in seeing how he auditions for Bond. I don't think he's ever quite played a James Bond sort of character (even in The Capture, which I think he's very good in, there's a sense he's on the backfoot for most of it/not fully in control as Bond would be). I get the sense from interviews he could channel his confidence into a Bond performance, so I really wouldn't be surprised if he gets it.
I think a part of it is because he had a robotic hand in Logan, so I can imagine him playing a version of Leiter who has the fake leg/hand.
Welcome to the 21st century. The next actor is going to hit the gym
He's managed to stay surprisingly low profile so far. I wonder if that's because they're hopeful he can be Bond.
That's all we need, a Mr Universe contestant.
;)
It doesn't look like his career is going anywhere. He's not the kind of quasi-star anyone would hire.
I don’t think Hiddleston dating Swift had anything to do with his chances of becoming Bond though… like, at all. He was already associated with the role of Loki, I suspect he simply wouldn’t have been right anyway, and most importantly there was already an incumbent Bond when he’d have been realistically considered.
I think Callum Turner is the closest thing we have to a safe pair of hands. I think every member on this board would have him in their top 5 to screentest. While he's not the one I'd pick, if he was selected I'd be more than fine with it
Well, he is "ugly".
It wouldn’t surprise me if he got it. He’s actually a bit of a lesser known candidate outside of these forums, but he’s got the good looks, the right physicality, the charisma, and the right level of fame.
Just depends on how he screen tests (if he does) and whether he has the right approach to the character for the producers. He’s ultimately one of many potentials, and I can also imagine we’ll get someone else. But it wouldn’t surprise me if he got it.
You are not living in the same reality as the rest of us, then.
I wouldn’t call him “ugly “ , but he’s not what I want to see in Bond.
In this reality people don't like ATJ's voice.
That's not the same.
It’ll be a similar thing with the new Bond when the new trailer comes out. Most should warm to the new actor by the time they see the film (should be the case at least) but it’s always a bit jarring seeing a face you’re not used to in the role. Ultimately they’ll have been picked because they bring the character to life - yes, their appearance will be a part of that, but as with any actor it’ll be about the full package: how they interpret the character and deliver those lines, their physicality, how they come off onscreen. For what it’s worth Turner’s a good looking guy (it’s subjective, but anyone who’s calling him ‘ugly’ isn’t quite being being honest or at least isn’t impartial for whatever reason 😉. The guy’s a model as well as being an actor, and has been for much of his career. He’s literally gotten jobs because of his looks). I think as he’s gotten a bit older he looks less boyish as well, which is good for this role, and he’s got quite a distinct face which again is great with a classically handsome actor (as I’ve said, I often forget what someone like Leo Suter looks like - very ‘central casting’ looking chap - which I don’t think is very good for the larger than life character that is Bond).
Hmm, I’m very conflicted about him honestly. Like I said, even after watching him in certain things I’ve completely forgotten what he looks like, and I’d be hard pressed to do so now off the top of my head. His actual performances have been fine, although a bit shallow at times and sometimes a wee bit lightweight. He is a good actor though. He seems quite charming and suave in this new BritBox show, but I’d need to watch it. I think it’s often the case where actors on those sorts of shows don’t quite have the screen presence to carry major films (Aidan Turner is another one who had that problem).
He could potentially be good and a surprise pick though. I don’t think he’s been in anything where he’s really had the chance to branch out or put in his best, and that’s the case with many younger actors at the stage of his career. I’m not quite seeing it at the moment, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong if he is the next Bond.
It's the same thing, but we can pretend it isn't, if you want.
Yes, and?
I'm looking forward to that too mate. It's out a week today isn't?
