Thanks, will watch them ASAP. I'm sure Brody is capable of playing a villain.
Watching Oppenheimer, I think about half the cast could make a great villain. I would prefer a fairly unknown veteran, but if they use the same approach as the later half of the Craig era, Cillian Murphy has the most chances of being cast: he's a renowned veteran actor, he's won an Oscar, he's the right age, etc. He wouldn't be my first choice, for the reasons stated before (too famous now, plus I'd rather see a more imposing villain), but I would not be surprised to see him cast.
It's a pity he didn't do it in Spectre instead of the awful portrayal we did get. Just my opinion of course.
Tucci is okay, but I don't see anything that would make him a great Blofeld.
Side note: why do so many people mention bald actors as potential Blofeld?
But if there is an actor I like and just happens to be bald it allows me to make an easy leap.
Mark Srong would be another one I could see as Blofeld.
As for a Blofeld with hair, I just prefer the bald look. It doesn't help that I thought the 2 official Blofelds we have had with hair were rubbish.
He's too old now, I think. A few years ago I would have said Ciaran Hinds or Brendan Gleeson.
He's a personal friend of Daniel Craig. I'm a tad surprised they don't seem to have thought of him. For Denbigh perhaps? I must confess, I never liked Andrew Scott in anything.
I believe Strong auditioned for the role of Renard in TWINE, but he messed up his audition because he went out drinking the night before, with Daniel of all people
I love Carlyle as an actor, I think he was suitably creepy as Renard, but Strong would have been physically more believable.
At the end, they seem to have forgotten that Renard could not feel pain.
Yeah, it could have been so much more fun if they had leaned into Renard's condition instead of making him so morose.
I love Malcolm McDowell, but he's too old now. Around the Brosnan era, he would have been great.
I could picture him as Renard or, in AVTAK, as Zorin, against Timothy Dalton.
But another reservation I have about him is that he often chooses a role not for the quality of the script but for the salary. I know he'd give his all either way, but I would rather him be in a solid project in which he believes than say Star Trek Generations.
I could see him being a great Elliot Carver.
Probably, but I liked Jonathan Pryce too much as Carver. One of the things that I love about the film.
If we are going the bald route, why not one of the Mitchell brothers? Either would do, or maybe both? :)
Yes, don't get me wrong. I really like Jonathan Pryce as Carver as well. I'm just saying that Malcolm McDowell (as well as original choice Sir Anthony Hopkins) could have done a great job as Elliot Carver as well.
Funny I see McDowell more as Renard, or Zorin, or a more mentor Trevelyan.
Oh and since we spoke of bald actors, he's getting on in years, but James Hyndman could make a great villain (although please, please, PLEASE, not Blofeld): https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0405247/
