Woof. I've always wanted to hear a clean copy of that source music heard in the Swiss village. I love that softer melody that sounds like something you'd hear at a skate rink, but the big brass section was a bit much. Having them alternate on the same track makes it even more jarring, even though that is how the film presented it. I just didn't realize how in the film sound mixing they really dialed down the brassy section.

    61 J.A. Kappey - The British Grenadiers (Blofeld’s Tape)

8 minutes 30 seconds approx. unreleased music

    Notes:

The 2003 expansion of this score is basically complete, apart from the full length version of ’The Whyte House’, which was presumably faded out due to the limitations of one CD and the sting when Bond emerges from the pipeline in Vegas and it cuts to Blofeld on the phone. Lukas said that this wasn’t on the tapes and that he assumed it was editorially created. We know that there is a longer version of the title song too; the additional lyrics (occurring halfway through) are: “Diamonds are forever/I can taste the satisfaction/Flawless physical attraction/Bitter cold I see fresh ’till they rest on the flesh they pray for.” Apparently the rest is identical to the film version, it’s just a different take. Curiously the cue 4M4 seems to be missing from any documentation. It could be that it was more Vegas source music which ended up being replaced by ‘Q’s Trick’.

You may have noticed that I've had to split this thread in two, as I'd run out of characters! Part two is here with notes on Goldeneye onwards.

Re: the missing sting when Bond emerges from the tunnel in the desert ('I Seem To Have Lost My Way'), here's a rather shoddy recording of it:

It sounds like it uses the Peter Franks sting and then an edited cue of the organ playing DAF, but I'm not sure which one (possibly 'Peter Franks' from the 2003 edition). Any thoughts welcome!

The nearest I can hear would be 3mx Peter Frank's escaped sting for sure I think followed by a shorter similar take of bit where Tiffany reveals the diamonds to bond hidden in the glass ceiling light immediately after the elevator fight.
