I wonder if there is a back up plan in case Villeneuve does a Boyle and walks away. Again, just kidding. Seriously though it’s looking more like a 2028 release as DV has a lot on his plate at the minute and script hasn’t been written yet by all accounts.
As for casting I just hope rumours of Tom Holland remain just that. Good actor but way too short.
Re Holland: Good actor but not James Bond, that's all, although he will always be Spider Man for me, he fits that role, Bond? No.
That's sad regarding 2028, maybe they would bring up the teaser trailer for Bond as one of the advertisements in LA 2028? Remember, it will be set in Los Angeles (Hollywood, you know 😏) and with (American Based) Amazon on the wheels, maybe they thought it would be a perfect timing 🤭.
I can see Bond returning to America. Plenty of current problems there to deal with.
It’s already getting long in the tooth.
“Maybe” does some heavy lifting in my original post. Money matters but so do contracts. The contract that Cubby and Harry made with UA in ‘61 (?) held for over 60 years. Anyway, the real point of my post was to give credit to Broccoli and Wilson for getting what they financially deserved yet holding on long enough to make a point. It seems Amazon listened, maybe begrudgingly, but Salke was let go, and Heyman, Pascal and Villeneuve were hired.
Denis being announced has given me a huge boost regarding Bond, I think we have a great Bond film on the horizon.
I don't know if Cubby ever had the chance to buy out Harry (I guess Cubby could always have made an offer), but it is an interesting alternate history to consider 100% Broccoli control of Bond and UA post-1975/MGM/Amazon never being part of Bond.
Would Cubby have found another studio, or would he have self-funded? Would the budgets be affected, so that we wouldn't get the likes of TSWLM or MR?
Would the series have lasted as long?
I can make up wild theories too
Henry cavil is going to be bond its why amazon bought Highlander so they can work that film around his Bond schedule
I mean at least i know the above is BS but its plausible bs
Chalamet will be James Bond

If that's the case we could also tout Jerry Seinfeld for Bond. He's a New Yorker, arguably too old and also lacks a traditional Bondian look. :D :D 7
Back to Denis, I'm very excited to watch BLADE RUNNER 2049 next week and see what all the hype is about. :D
It's good.
You're forgetting, Jerry doesn't qualify because he has never appeared in a DV film
However I would hereby like to nominate Jake Gyllenhaal, who does qualify due to his having starred in a DV film, plus he is about the right age (similar age to Moore, Brosnan and Dalton at any rate) and has a much better physique than Chalamet.
Ditto Ryan Gosling
Chalamet hasn't been in a Villeneuve film before Dune. The fact that they are currently working on their third film together is simply because it's one long series, so I don't get how he suddenly is becoming the de Niro to Villeneuve's Scorsese. That's like saying David Yates will shoehorn Daniel Radcliffe into all his projects because they did a handful of Harry Potter films together. Similarly, Gyllenhaal has been in two separate Villeneuve films in quick succession and nothing since. If he somehow where the one guy DV always brings in, he'd surely have found some way to get him into one of the five films he's done since Enemy. But he didn't.
The only guy I feel Villeneuve really finds interesting and will often create a place in his films for is David Dastmalchian. He's obviously not going to be Bond, but I could very easily see him have some sort of disquieting one Act role.
But the last Bond played an old man Bond three times in a row.
Yeah, I never get this. Do people really want "too old to fight"-Bond? Because that's kind of the only part of an "Old Bond" concept they didn't really do with Craig. He's still able to run people down and beat them up. Other than that, they've done pretty much everything "Old Bond" could mean up to and including retirement, a family and death.
Exactly.
That's pretty much it. DV doesn't have, as far as we know, a muse or fetish actor. And even if he did, on the context of Bond said actor would have more chances to be a supporting characters, be it M or a villain.
It's normal to be worried, but we have less reasons to be so now that DV is behind the wheel.
Let's not resort to historical futurism just because we're in the proverbial dark. There's a light up ahead, it may be a tad far, but it's there, and it's as green as Gatsby would like it to be, hope that is, hope, and that, as we know very well, springs eternal.
Yes I was baffled when everyone started talking about Brosnan coming back and doing a film where Bond is called out of retirement for one last mission, because that was literally the most recent Bond film we just had! :D
And like you say, I don't mind the idea of 'Old Bond', but he's got to really still be attractive to ladies and able to beat people up because that's Bond, and that's what we got in NTTD.
James Bond, at 38, for example, would be at the top of his game, and still wouldn't be close to being old or irrelevant or cringeworthy when flirting - if one can flirt nowadays, that is.
So, I don't get why youth is something exclusive to the 20 something. Youth, as one knows, is wasted on the young.
I say, go for a 30 something Bond. Almost 40, as they've done many other times.
Does this count?
