Sorry if it's been posted before. It's GB News therefore highly reliable (sarcasm here), but anyway, I thought I'd put it here for discussion: https://www.gbnews.com/celebrity/james-bond-bbc-star-james-nelson-joyce

It has, and he surprisingly has some fans here.

I know nothing about the guy, so can't make a judgment.

AI art sucks, that sucks, and Elordi will never be Bond for reasons we've all shared before. Gross

    Never?

Why do we want an American who can't act? Because women and gays were into him two years ago? So what? Where is he now? How is he relevant at all to Bond beyond being relatively handsome to some people? Come on, do better.

Don’t mean to be “that guy” but Elordi is Australian. I get what you’re saying though.

Australian is worse, as has been proven in the past.

    Not as bad as Irish.

Tom Holland got exclusive access to the Aston team during Le Mans this weekend, and got to drive the Valkyrie that was featured in (the background of) NTTD. New Bond (half joking)?

He's with the Aston Martin development driver (who I've interviewed before).

So how does one actually get into the Valkyrie?

'Start by buying it a drink' I think is how the joke goes.

Unfortunately Tom still looks like he's twelve years old. No thank you.

Well gents, whoever becomes the next Bond, it seems Iran is where he's headed. The villain: an insane religious nut who threatens the world, time and time again. The target: a highly secure atomic fortress. A race against time seems inevitable for Bond.

Bond's mission would just be to bait the U.S. into the war with planted false information about WMDs.

An Iranian trying to get the U.S. to blow up China would be a nice twist on the old formula of the villain pitting two "allies" against each other.

I can see them going down the Top Gun Maverick route, it's just they're bad guys let's stop them. The threat feels very real world, but the villain's have no nation or state connected to them.

I think Bond will do something similar, maybe link them to Spectre

I think the Bond films have always been this way to an extent - or when nations are used, they are rogue, operating on their own, and condemned by the nation itself. I am thinking of OP, where Orlov is a rogue general, same for TLD, in FRWL it is Spectre operating the plan, not the Russians directly, even in GE Orumov is a rogue General.

Definitely. There's so much crap going on in the world at the moment, i think Bond should definitely stick to something independent of any real events.

In fact, i should imagine most fans would crave the best escapism Bond can offer...

I do have a pet theory that, because films often can't show foreign states acting as the villains and so they often have criminal conspiracies or rogue agents within the home government or those of friendly countries acting as the villains, that has helped to build into this increasing state of mind around the world that the government isn't to be trusted etc. I'm not saying that's the leading cause of that, far from it, but it has played into that aspect to some extent and added to it.

But at least in Bond films China, Russia and so on are mentioned, if only in passing. I find it absurd if, like in Top Gun's case, they just call it "the Enemy".
  • Just saw the rumours re Aaron Pierre. I think it would be the right move following Craig. Craig was such a huge departure from Brosnan, and this would follow suit. Pierre has gravitas, presence and command. Please let this be.

He'd be very interesting, hopefully great, and has been the one I've been most interested in since Rebel Ridge, but it all feels like just rumours at the mo. Fingers crossed.

I’d love to see the next Bond movie take inspiration from both Top Gun and MI. Go one further and combine the ‘the enemy’ and ‘the entity’ into an imaginary villain called ‘the enema’ - a large, penis-shaped threat to the world that exists only in Bond’s head. Bond to be played by John Malkovich. I’m off to get ChatGPT to write a script on this basis and entertain myself for the afternoon…

Speaking with Deadline, the actor played coy when he was asked about his next project.
This query prompted him to reply, “I can’t talk about it” with a smile.

Well, I suppose he already has a leg up. He's supposedly signed for the role twice now, and has even filmed a gunbarrel sequence two years ago. Crazy.

I think it's probably down to the fact that him/his agents are negotiating his next contract and can't discuss what he's doing for the next year or so. If it's Bond I'd be shocked considering there's no writers or director attached.

If he is cast I expect him to do at least one backflip per film.

    In the end:

Pascal and Heyman have a slate of projects they’re contractually obliged to complete before setting sights on Bond in earnest. And…:

    No writer.
    No script.
    No director.

We are inching forward to real news, just not yet.

It will be funny if he ends up being the next Bond.

In any case, there will be news someday. It's not like they're not doing anything.

Yes, it would be quite funny in many ways! It'd then be up to him to prove many people wrong I suppose.

The reality is that he’s probably on a list. And he has as good a shot as any (until he has to audition— plenty of better choices; he is, as many have said here, an actor that continually disappoints. If chosen he truly would be Bland, James Bland (with a smirking and very punchable face)).

And I’d fire his stylist. He looks like he’s homeless, not edgy, nor cool. The stylist is doing everything in their power to make this guy appear way more unlikeable than he likely is.

In this time gone by - Waiting for his voice to drop ? If not, producers free to select otherwise ?

Of the popular names being tossed around, the only one I like is Leo Suter. He doesn't have that modern look that a lot of young actors have, he looks like he could have been Bond in the 60s. He's also the right height (6'2", though I always assume they add an inch for celebs) and just at the right age, 31, where he could play a Bond that's young enough to believably pull off the stunts but also not so young that they'd need to do another origin story for him.
