Not the guy who should be directing Bond…but I bet he’s on their short list, lol:

Yes, he is on the list for sure.

I expect Pascal & Heyman to be smart enough and not hire Ritchie. I don't even know which current director, Ritchie is better than.

Better than Vaughn, though only marginally.

Funnily enough, they're alike. Edgar Wright is almost in their mould too.

I quite liked "The Covenant", and he's gotten good reviews for his "Gentleman" and "Mobland" shows. I think his biggest issue is he gets a little too overindulgent in terms of his own taste and characterization.

This is the first ‘good news story’ that I have seen in quite a while in our media landscape. Mescal is also tied up - now we just need Theo James to sign up for Downton Abbey 2027 to ‘drain the swamp’ here ahead of getting some proper talent on board for Bond 26. Ritchie would make John Glen look like Fellini.

I would actually go with Richie if it meant getting Theo James as Bond...

And Campbell was better than Tamahori, only marginally. ;)

As much as Guy Ritchie and Vaughn.

When Vaughn makes Wrath of Man and The Covenant we'll talk.

Worthless movies. Might as well just get Marc Forster back if we’re only talking Ritchie calibre.

You don't like him and that's fine but he's not Vaughn.

And Marc Forster is at least younger than Campbell.

I wouldn’t be against Campbell, but I think new blood is called for. Folks always bring up GE and CR, but the chances of having lighting strike three times with Campbell is not high. He needs actual good material to work off of.

I remember even in 2005 there was skepticism of him returning to Bond, because he had just delivered THE LEGEND OF ZORRO which was a significant step down from the first. It was reasonable to worry he might not do well with a second Bond at the time. Luckily his second Bond was better than his second Zorro.

I’d take Ritchie for Bond over Matthew Vaughn or David Yates (the latter would be a worst case scenario in my opinion). But none are right for Bond I’d say.

Now that you say it, maybe hiring a guy who is a bit on the back foot with critics, but not totally a f-up, is the way to go. With Luca Guadagnino now off of Sgt. Rock and probably a little embarrassed, I bet he'd be easy to get for Bond.

With how long early development is taking I'm starting to wonder whether Amazon doesn't just get the itch to wait for Nolan in late 2028/2029 when he is next available.

Odyessy releases July 2026, just a little over a year away - it's not that long really.

If Alfonso Cuaron becomes director you could say it complete an informal trilogy.

    First, a little princess
    Then, a teenage Wizard
Now, an adult secret agent. B-)

Cuaron’s name has been floating around for two months with zero confirmation from the trades. That silence says a lot. At this point, it’s more likely he was either just a rumour or talks fell through. If it were happening, we’d probably have heard by now. He’s giving a talk in Mexico on May 30 - maybe we’ll get clarity then. Anyone planning on attending or can keep an eye on this?

My personal fav is still Luca Guadagnino. Just watch that sexy Cartier ad — it oozes Bond. He's done action (kinda) in Bones & All and he's done commercial with Challengers.

If they want someone dependable and properly British, I’d throw Philip Barantini into the mix. Adolescence was pure Champions League level filmmaking.

Not Nolan, Cuaron, Edgar Weight, QT or any of that shite.

Has to be John Glen or failing him, Martin Campbell.

We'll probably wind up switching directors now and again.

Barantini would be an out of the box but pretty interesting pick.

World of Reel (admittedly not the most reliable source, so take this with a handful of salt) is now claiming that Cuaron won’t be directing. They’re also saying that writers have been hired for Bond 26 (no names given).

Wow, that is a bummer. I'm praying now on bended legs that they hire Edgar Wright, he has a pitch he's been talking to Barbara for years about, otherwise God help us.

I enjoy Wright. But he's too zany for Bond. All of his films have that very off-beat style, which I enjoy...but consider too shallow for Bond.

    No to Wright.
