This must be my 3rd, or 4th playthrough. Not for the trophies, but because I simply enjoy the game. As a prequel, it does not to contradict the story of Yakuza, but adds to it, makes it better. This is an example of everything that can be right with prequels. I'm approaching the late stage; Kiryu has just learned who own the Empty plot that has been causing him so much bother. This is where the 2 story strands begin to converge.

Did I saw how much I absolutely love this game? Fast arcade-y action, a story that is an emotional roller coaster (easily on par with The Last Of Us, Uncharted, God Of War etc...), and the most off the wall bizarre humour.

Finished Yakuza 0, again, yesterday. The feels, so many feels. It bothers me so much, that this game (and the series on the whole, but especially this entry in the series) isn't held up alongside God Of War, the Uncharted Games, The Last Of Us, etc... for it's storytelling.
My only complaint, which isn't relevant so much now as when I first played Yakuza 0, is that I wish there was an in game family tree. It would have been helpful when trying to keep track of the characters that I am crossing paths with.

Now that I have finished GTA V's story mode, I am starting to dabble in GTA Online for the first time. Given there is over 8 years worth of content there it is really overwhelming for a newcomer. You're dumped into the world and just bombarded from there. A shame none of the content is in the single player as I'd be up for doing the heists and other activities, just not within the online environment. But Rockstar gotta sell shark cards I guess.

Not sure if I will continue on with it, but I did unlock the Aston Martin DB5 JB 700 car through the casino daily free spin, so bombing around in that is fun.

So far, I have played only the first mission. It took me 1 hr and 40 mins, to complete, and I only did the primary objectives. I was doing a lot of crouch walking (as you can't crouch run this time around), and exploring the map. That is a much bigger opening mission than San Celini Island from SE4, which wasn't small in itself. I did encounter 3 bugs, one of which I had already heard of in ACG's review; while going in for a non-lethal CQC takedown, the ground momentarily disappeared, then another time, I was hiding in long grass distracting a soldier, when he comes running over, falls through the ground and disappears, then lastly (and this is the one I had heard of), while reloading my sidearm, it got stuck in the reloading animation, (rendering it useless). The last one was only fixed by getting to a work bench, swapping to a different pistol, then swapping back. There's a definite Hitman influence over this game

So I jumped back in, after having not played it for weeks. Now I realised why I stopped playing; those moronic Tank Battles. And the "stealth" ones were worse. Whoever came up with the idea for those Tank Battles, I would like to add their name to the list of people, that I would like nothing more than to lock them in a potable toilet, and kick it down Cooper's Hill. I don't know if I will finish it. Even without Tank Battles, it would still be my least favourite of the trilogy.

I bought it about a month ago dirt cheap on the PS Store. Never got really into it and I really did try. With that being said, going back and playing the original two Bioshocks

Excellent! This has me all the more excited to play it eventually. I heard of some bugs, primarily in ACG's review, so hopefully they're further patched by the time I get around to it.

The bugs aside, i'm really enjoying it. The 3 year wait since the the announcement back in March '19 has been worth it. I'm no shill, but I have faith that they will have ironed out the bugs soon. At least the game is playable, it's landed in a good state compared to Cyberpunk 2077. Rebellion aren't AAA, but they have still managed to turn out their biggest game yet, with only a few little issues.

I have thought of doing the same. I bought the trilogy, and began them in order, but never finished the first one. I loved the Art Deco aesthetic.

The Bioshock series is so fantastic, like transporting to a brand new, breathtaking world in each one, and I can't wait to see if the new one will be worth the time and money. I bought that remastered trilogy several years back and went through and completed all three in a row (had only ever played the first one at that point).

The second is still my favorite. It feels less clumsy than the first. Never finished Infinite but it was an enjoyable play.

I remember being quite surprised by the second one; I thought reviews weren't too favorable at the time of release but perhaps I'm wrong. Infinite was an excellent shakeup for the series while still retaining the same heart and magic and sense of escapism. Plus, I really loved the story it had to share, tons of narrative twists and shocks throughout.

2nd mission complete. Took me 67 mins, and no deaths. A shorter mission this time, but still a big layout.
A small gripe I have, which could be fixed by either changing the configuration, or getting used to how this one plays; as with the Hitman game, you push a button, and can get a better sense of your surroundings, that same feature is in SE5, but it is on the same button at the binoculars. Click L3 once, for binoculars, but if you hold L3, this sense mode is activated. I keep bringing out my binoculars, when I actually want to activate 'Karl sense'.
Other than that, it's superb so far. The Hitman influence has brought more stealth to Sniper Elite, even down to hiding bodies in crates.

I watched some more gameplay this morning and saw bodies being dumped in crates. It seems like they've taken a lot from the Hitman titles, in a good way.

I couldn't agree more. It's unmistakably Sniper Elite, but the Hitman inspiration is there. Hiding bodies in crates, hiding bodies in long grass or Karl hiding in the grass, this is the most stealthy one yet. Also, being able to unlock new starting points, by exploring the map.

And the references to Sniper Elite 3 and 4, with Karl being referred to as The Desert Ghost and The Shadow. Great little callbacks. I haven't picked up any reference(s) to Sniper Elite/Sniper Elite V2, not yet anyway.

The AI has also been improved, not that it was bad before. If you hit then in the arm, the sneaky blighters will drop their gun, and switch to a sidearm. And if you rig a generator to create sound, to mask your shots, this time around, they will actually try to repair the generator.

I heard there's a lot of opportunity to play with natural noise to mask your shots. I love that attention to detail.

You can, but this time, the AI is smart. If you damage something to create sound, the AI will make an attempt to repair it. I didn't expect it to be possible. I damaged a lorry's engine, to mask my shots, only to then witness a soldier repair the engine, shutting off the noise. I gave him 10/10 for effort, before dropping him with a head shot from my suppressed 1911.

That's the spirit! Same with Hitman, I used to love turning off generators or fuse boxes, waiting for a guard or employee to repair them/turn them back on, only to instantly get shot through the face.

Mission 3 complete. Not as big a map as the previous 2, but this one felt more... built up. There was less empty space. Once I crossed the bridge onto the island, it became a more densely packed mission. On my way to exil, I got lost... twice.

Also, it the first post-launch update was rolled out. No idea what was contained in the update, but I ran into not one bug.

I was really hyped about it when it came out but I didn't have a PS4 so I contended myself with watching play throughs. Now that I'm playing it though I really love exploring Ancient Greece and Kassandra is still as amazing a character as I thought.

I really need to stop reading the mini bios on each soldier. Seeing things like; "Has changed his will, to give all his money to a dogs shelter." and "Has been giving some of his rations to a dog that has been following him for weeks." has made me go in for a non-lethal take downs. They have been helping doggos, I can't bring myself to kill them, unless I have no choice. But I try to avoid that, if I can.

Nazis on one hand, dog lovers on the other. A tough choice, indeed!

Bagged myself a 4 for 1 kill earlier on Sniper Elite 5.

Also ran into an annoying bug. I was hiding behind a fountain, on the other side were a group of about 5 Nazis. Without any warning, the fountain disappeared. I can see them, they can see me. They open fire, so I return fire, but my bullets hit the fountain, which isn't even there, but their bullets hit me! I started having flashbacks to all the clipping bugs from the original Sniper: Ghost Warrior. I am still enjoying SE5, but there are some wrinkles that need ironing out.

    Yakuza Kiwami
I wanted to keep the momentum going of my Yakuza series playthrough, so jumped into Yakuza Kiwami, and played the first few chapters.
7 years have passed since the events of Yakuza 0. It's now 1995, and life is good for Kiryu and Nishiki, they've made it to the rank of Lieutenant, and Kiryu is being earmarked as a Patriach of his own family. That is until one dark and stormy night, Kiryu takes the blame for the murder of a Patriach, and is sentenced to 10 years in prison. When the game then jumps ahead to 2005, Kiryu is released, and receives a few surprises. From what I remember of the 2005 original PS2 game, it didn't have as strong of a story as this remake, and that is thanks to Yakuza 0 fleshing out the backstory of these characters.

I just want to take the time to make an obligatory F*CK SEGA post here, because of this bullsh*t:

    https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sonic-3-knuckles-wont-have-its-original-soundtrack-in-sonic-origins/

I was so looking forward to this compilation, as it was the first to have all the best, mainline classic games in one package, but not, they had to go and ruin it by A) Not releasing it in physical format and B) Eliminating all the classic Michael Jackson tracks that made the game so memorable and magical in the first place. Not to mention, their new Frontiers game looks boring and stale as f*ck. Now I have to hunt down an old collection with the real music before those prices skyrocket like they did for Metal Gear Solid 3's physical release with that copyrighted footage. JFC these things shouldn't even have to be problems.

@FoxRox, sounds like an issue of money in retaining the rights to the MJ tracks. It's the same, sad issue with Billie Jean being removed from the last couple of iterations of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I laugh at the new ones being the Definitive Editions despite them having several big songs removed. It's not like Rockstar and co. can't afford it.

There’s no way SEGA “couldn’t afford” whatever it’d take either. They’re just cheaping out again, by extension disrespecting the work MJ and his team put into the game and the memories of gamers who cherished it. They also call Origins the “definitive edition.” They’re not getting a penny from me on it. I already ordered the original Mega and Gems collections for the GameCube so I can have them all in physical, unbotched format.

I also failed to bring up before how SEGA also delisted all the other digital versions of the games everywhere, so players are forced to buy Origins if they want to have the original games (which aren’t even original anymore) from the current market. It’s just the latest example of history erasure and greedy company tactics. I hope it flops and karma comes for their asses.

That's how it's done, @FoxRox. The only way to vote in these cases is with your wallet. I've decided I'm done with essentially all day one purchases of games, I'm tired of getting burned or regretting my decision days or weeks later.

Sounds like another case of a once beloved studio/company/publisher shooting themselves in the foot and moving away from what made them great in the first place. It happens to everyone it seems. I don't have any developers I wholeheartedly trust anymore.

I don't want to say anything against about SEGA, because I love the Yakuza games, and I want them to bring back Kuze. Either another prequel, set even further back, in the 1960's with a young Kuze climbing the ranks. Or a new game, with Kuze (who by 2022 would be at least 74 years old), as a mentor type. Give him his own clan. Old man Kuze having to deal with 20-something punk whipper snappers. I bet he would still whoop ass by the lorry load, even in his 70's.
