What I love about Tom is he never stops acting, never forgets his character. In a fight scene, he generally looks like a person in a fight: like he'd rather not be fighting, and and like he hopes he doesn't get his ass kicked. It's great.

Spot on. That's really evident in the bathroom fight scene in Fallout.

And he's also not afraid to take the mick out of his height and himself in a fight; see the opera fight scene in Rogue Nation.

I see the reviews embargo has lifted for the new Top Gun; it's getting five stars almost everywhere. Seems to be a smash.

Speaking of Tom Cruise (and I agree with you all positively) I want to talk about a animated movie with his likeness used as the main character. In honor of its 30th anniversary this year, I have a few points to make about Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin. I believe that the movie would have still been a hit without Robin Williams. They’re a number of great things about the movie that don’t involve him. Jafar is a all time classic villain, and we couldn’t have been luckier to have Jonathan Freeman voice him. To think, he got the part after so many big names had to turn it down (Tim Curry, Kelsey Grammer, John Hurt, Christopher Lloyd, and Ian McKellen were some of the names considered), with Sir Patrick Stewart originally cast, but had to turn it down because of STTNG. He also said this is the biggest regret of his career. He retired from performing him on Broadway in January, and will leave behind a great legacy.

As for the songs, they are classics with and without the Genie. Aladdin and Jasmine are a great couple who really feel like they grow in their relationship. My point is that even without Robin Williams, the movie would still been a hit.

For me it's a number of factors, but Robin Williams was certainly one of them. Aladdin is, with The Lion King, one of the last time we had a Disney movie with a male as the main protagonist. There was Hercules after them, but it was not really successful.

The original truly animated movie was made in 1967. Tarzan (1999) was a hit as well. Some Disney movies with male after TLK were successful, even if not right away with fandom and box office.

Agreed. Cruise was pretty good in Collateral. I also liked his look in the film, what with the grey hair and all. And he played a baddie, which is rare for him. Then again, who wouldn't want to play the criminal in a Michael Mann film? De Niro's role in HEAT may be my very favourite of his.

De Niro is always commanding on screen but he's especially fiery and terrifying in that one. The scene where he busts into the motel room to confront Charlene? Scary stuff.

Or confronting Waingro. Epic scene. Damn, I love that film!

"Look at me!" And Waingro's gasping after those first two shots, only for De Niro to finish off that Mozambique Drill with the headshot before instantly walking out. Perfection.

Yes. Oh gawd, yes! And then that look. De Niro is an ugly man in my opinion, but with that little beard and his classy outfits in HEAT, he looks positively "ace".

That's an older one. Unless you mean the live action one, which I guess count if you count live action remakes.

And the remake was a Disney film in 2016..?

I think the only thing not animated in it is Mowgli.

Aside from that I can think of Big Hero 6 too. Otherwise there's Ron's Gone Wrong, Luca, Soul, Onward etc. etc.

What’s weird is that THE LION KING was sold as a live action remake, and yet Disney submitted the film for the animation categories during awards season.

I don't see the point of these live action remakes, but that's hardly controversial.

Jungle Book I'd still live action remake of an animated movie. Allegedly with a lot of CGI. But all the animals are meant to be life like, not cartoonish. Regarding the others you mention, a lot of them are produced by companies owned by Disney, with their own aesthetic, approaches and brand. I understand the Alien franchise is owned by Disney, that doesn't make Ripley a Disney princess.

Allegedly? It's 100% animated, apart from Mowgli and some of the stuff he stands on. The jungle backgrounds are all CG. I agree it's not a traditional cartoon, but it's not really live action either. I don't think they make any traditionally-styled cartoons which don't feature CG now.

That's an awful lot of 'yeah buts!' :) They're animated films, for kids, from Disney.

Batman and Robin's suits are costume shop awful. More likely to strike giggles than terror in the hearts of criminals. But back then comic books were the stuff of cheap serials and nothing more at the movies.

Haha! I do like his suit alright as far as serial costumes go. Kirk Alyn's Super suit was better, IMO, and Lewis Wilson's Bat suit was better as well. I love Lowery's bat emblem, though.
Apparently Robert Lowery's cape, cowl, etc. were a maroon/burgundy in color.

As an adult, I can agree. The teenage version of me would disagree. However, I can respect both franchise attempt to spoof the Bond films. The first two Austin Powers films haven't aged well but I still get some laughs out of them. The third was just an overload of grossness and toilet humor. It was like parodying a parody.

The VR scene in Johhny English 3 was the hardest I'd ever laughed in a long time.

A few from me though I am sure I posted some of these before

    1. The batman is now my favorite batman movie it took this long to finally get voice over in movies god
    2. Macgyver the movie should of happened and should of been as successful as the mission impossible films
    3. Jaws should be a longer franchise
    4. Jaws 2 is not as bad as everyone claims
    5. Jaws 3 if told by a good director would actually of made money
    6. Jaws 4 was doomed for failure at the beginning however if they got rid of the revenge aspect the amity stuff and just had the Brody’s on vacation in the Bahamas where a great white shark shows up it could of been b movie fun but way better
    7. I love the Saint staring Val Kilmer I have been told by many here that it was a bad film but I thought it was a fun spy film that I loved hearing Kilmer do different accents and all being named for saints is a cool gimmick I hear it’s nothing like the show but I don’t care
    8. The A-team should of been a franchise how the expendables got franchise money and not the a-team is beyond me
    9. Meg was actually scary to me and I can’t wait for the sequel
    10. I feel a movie about the Band Yes about the making of the Drama album where Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman left the band and the rest of the band not only have to replace them but have an album and tour coming is such an Oscar worthy idea and a box office gold mine of an idea it annoys me no one except me sees the potential
    11. Also I am tired of the joker I haven’t even seen Joker the movie nor will I why because if any villain deserved his own film Bane (think Rocky but much darker) and Ra’s Al ghul (picture a dark James Bond film) stories are far more fascinating

    That’s about it for now

I disagree. They stole the design from The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Hockey mask Jason is where it's at for me.
