That's basically GE but with the navy instead of a 00.

I guess but I imagine the execution being a lot different and more being made about the connection. Plus a scheme that's more targeted because while Trevelyan's plan was still aimed at London, it felt very broad, and quite high concept. I imagine Bond 26 would execute a plot like this in a more grounded and more focused away.

After all, the Navy did kill the last 007...

Deadline reporter says to wait until after the Oscars for Bond news.

Tom Holland previously announced he pitched an origin story for Bond to the producers and they turned him down.

Tom Holland also recently offered himself to host the Oscars.

Tom Holland was just in one of the most successful movies of all time.

Baz's report says "It really can't be him, can it?" in regard to a rumor he heard about the next actor.

Is it possible Eon actually liked Holland's idea and are going forward with it? He will be the new Bond with an origin story, and wants a big arc.

I don't think it's happening, but you could put it together to make it seem like something could happen with Holland and Bond.

I don t want to see Tom Holland in a Bond.

Willa Holland, on the other hand.

I think he'd fit in one.

I like Garfield and Holland, but they have boyish voices. I’m not sure I’m ready for a Bond who doesn’t have a deep booming voice. It’s part of why Brosnan’s ranks low with his less than manly voice.

I was fine with Brosnan, but the point certainly would apply to Tom Ellis of Lucifer. I like him in that role, and like the show, but him as Bond ? Just watch Lucifer and hear it yourself.

My choice to play James Bond continues to be Aidan Turner.

Sadly, so many of today's young actors possess thin voices.

It really seems like we might hear after the Oscars. Which would be extremely shocking.

I am betting on it. Anyone betting on before the Oscars?

As I told a couple of our members: buy me a brand new hat coz if there is an announcement after the Oscar’s— from this year— I will take that hat, pour all kinds of tasty sauce on it and I will eat it.

    Not happening.

I'm with you. There's really no way, especially considering there's no way there's a script yet, but a lot of sources seem to be reporting it. That's why I said it'd be extremely shocking.

I’ll happily eat the hat. I was told this was 1000% BS…. Some on this site saw the message sent to me.

So if this guy is wrong, buy me a hat and I’ll try and eat it if an announcement happens on Oscar weekend, or shortly thereafter.

What if they want to cast an actor before there’s a completed script, so that they can have the actor collaborate and provide input into the part?

Well I imagine that the completed script will help them navigate what kind of actor they're looking for, then when they've got their actor, the collaboration time can begin if it didn't already start during the audition process. It might be part of said process to find out what the actor would want to do with the part.

That could be considering they got on so well with Craig giving input into pretty much all aspects.

Apart from the script…. the Amazon sale hasn’t been finalized!! They are not going to be spending 8 billion $$$ and NOT have a say on direction of the series, writers, script and new actor!!

Even if the sale is complete I don’t think Amazon would have much of a say. If they tried to strong arm EON, then that would put the series in another limbo like the early 90s

I think the appeal to Amazon regarding James Bond is the financial gain, not input into the films.

Amazon will not pay 8 billion to not have a say on how this series continues. When the sale is complete they will have a voice— no doubt. Please don’t get me wrong, EoN will be the leading voice, but that voice won’t speak until they know who their financier will be. And until their financial partner(s) is locked, forward steps into the new era is on pause.

I’m sorry I wasn’t one of the select few that saw this message which 100% confirms it will not happen. It seems even suggesting this idea caused great offence, and soon very sorry for any hurt feelings.

The only wildcard I keep imagining is Craig perhaps eggheaded pitching something of a literal passing of the torch. Perhaps they stage the Oscars and literally hand the role to someone else, from Craig to .? Would be absurd and is not happening, but it would be incredible PR. "Bond's not dead, Craig is happy to be gone, he likes this guy to take over."

1 to a billion odds Fukunaga is confirmed returning with an actor already in mind, as NTTD sweeps awards at the Oscars and gets a week of industry headlines. Never gonna happen, they all want and deserve a break and I think Craig will not even register in the background when news actually kicks off in probably two years, I'd wager.

Does anyone know the time gap between, Pierce being let go and Daniel Craig being announced?
I'm roughly thinking around 2003, 2004 EON decided not to continue with Pierce?
I think I recall they got the rights to Casino Royale around 2004?
And Daniel Craig was announced in October 2005.
Could give us all an indication on how long the casting process is likely to be. Possibly.

The first news of Brosnan not coming back was in October 2004, eight months after EVERYTHING OR NOTHING was released.

EON actually got the rights to CR in 1999, but they intentionally held it back rather than jump straight to making one. It makes me think they were always intending to make it with a new actor. So if Brosnan had returned, it would have been an original story.

So it was a year between Pierce leaving and Daniel becoming Bond?
So does that mean we could see a new Bond revealed by the end of 2022?
Who knows at this point. EON may have a story idea, or actors in mind to take on the iconic role. They've often tested actors in the part since the early days. It's not impossible that they have a decent shortlist of actors to audition.
