    Great John Powell soundtrack.

Would have liked him to score an M:I film.

Spectre was on TV last night. My two boys (18 and 16) sat down to watch it ( their first viewing) they lasted until the titles.
    "I prefer Mission Impossible"
    "Me too"
They both then departed "screen 1" to play on the X Box

To be honest I rarely get beyond DC looking at the Spectre ring in the helicopter now, the film has got progressively worse over time for me, though I don't mind the pre title sequence. The recent M:I films I prefer to DC's last two films, ducks for cover...

You've got company as I do as well.

No M:I film is as good as SF. Not even close.

Each to there own, personally I think SF is one of the worst films in the series. Rogue Nation and Fallout for myself are far more fun, cohesive and exciting than what Mendes gave us with his two Bond films.

ROGUE NATION was very good. FALLOUT? Overrated IMO. When it comes to the best M:I films though I give it to the first film and GHOST PROTOCOL. I would LOVE another M:I film that put more emphasis on low key spy thriller set pieces rather than the stunts. There’s far more tension and excitement in the CIA heist than Cruise hanging onto a plane.

The plane bit is exciting though: it's just not trying to be the same thing as the Langley sequence. The underwater torus bit has plenty of tension and excitement. It's not as iconic as the wire-dangling, but that's an all-time classic Hollywood scene: there's no shame in not matching it.

That bike stunt sounds fantastic, I hope they don't reveal it in the trailer, whenever that's released. The train stuff reminds a lot of Buster Keaton

I recently re-watched the M:I films and would rank them as the following:

    1. Rogue Nation
    2. Ghost Protocol
    3. Fallout
    4. M:I
    5. M:I - 3
    6. M:I - 2

I'll probably have a M:I marathon before the new one's out (as if it matters, considering I've seen them so many times), looking forward to ranking them then. Off the top of my head, I figure Fallout will be #1 for me with M:I - 3 falling in last place.

All other Bond movies are better than SF, which was a boring inconsistent and illogical mess.

I was just looking at my M:I 4K Steelbook set, I love this set...

I am planning a complete rewatch in June when on leave in preparation for the next film, I have not watched the films in order since last year.

Looks great! I only have the Fallout 4K steelbook but I love the look of it so much. I just have the regular 4K editions of the other films, which are pretty stellar.

One of the few 4K sets that are good regarding the Artwork, some other sets are a let down for me in 4K.

I have all the M:I Steelbook's on picture stands proudly showing them off in my movie room lol

The 1st Mission Impossible is rated a 15? For what?

Same here. I've really moved away from steelbook purchases in the last few years, especially after the one for SP. Most of them feel very uninspired and don't justify an extra $5-10.

I think the MI films are great (maybe 2 and 3 less so) and Skyfall is brilliant too :)

I guess Emilo eating the lift shaft and Jon Voight on the wrong side of the tracks?

Sarah and the guys getting stabbed can't be too popular either: I think knives are a bit of a no-no.

It's always fun to see Craig's Bond come down the steps of the embassy party which the first MI film starts with in Casino Royale :D

I have SF Steelbook though not bothered with SP Steelbook (unless I see it cheap at some point, just to have it), some of the Artwork for DC films can be disappointing and little effort has been put in.

I have moved more into Digital purchases which is double edged sword, on one hand I really don't have much room for more stuff, though I do like to have tangible purchases I can pick up. I have a good few hundred films now on digital, quite a lot of 4K content.

    Probably for Emilio's death.

I know this may be a tenuous connection but I've been watching the old TV Series of Mission Impossible and in the first episode to mention the syndicate. Jim gets his assignment details from a record and in the Movie, The first mention of the syndicate told to Ethan is also on a record ? I know I'm grasping at straws but I think it's nice if they are doing little bits of business to tie in with the old series.

I never picked up on that, I would not be surprised if that was deliberate by McQuarrie.

I think Ethan actually first hears about them at the end of Ghost Protocol on an ipod or something..?

Sorry Yes, You're right, just as he disappears . Although I'll change it to his first Official briefing is on a record :D even if it is the syndicate doing the briefing

Apparently McQ and Cruise share a bit of a love of analogue audio which is doubtless why that record shop is there, but he does put in a fair few little references to the TV show so you are probably right.

I know it was a tenuous connection, I just happened to watch the TV episode last night and my imagination ran away with me. In fact I'm watching MI-5 now ;)
