Shaping up to be an amazing sequence I’m sure.
    Should look amazing on screen.

That is extremely impressive and very exciting.

It's a shame that they were unable to get permission to blow up that 100 year old Polish bridge that had no real cultural or historical significance. I'm sure this alternative version will look great too, but the structure they built over that quarry in England pales in comparison.

Given the amount of VFX that sequence will need, not to mention all the COVID delays, I wouldn't be too shocked if the film got pushed back to 2022.

Or at the very least, Christmas.

I have bad news for you. It already got pushed back to May 2022. (And Mission: Impossible 8 to May 2023.)

Ah, there you go then. I haven't really been keeping up with this movie's production, so that's why I didn't know.

Ever since COVID hit, the writing was on the wall for it, anyway.

No M:I film is as good as SF. Not even close.

All other Bond movies are better than SF, which was a boring inconsistent and illogical mess.

If that’s true, how do you even enjoy any other Bond film?

We all have our opinions mate. I feel sorry that you can't enjoy Skyfall, I personally think its amazing and Daniel's performance as Bond is incredible. But each to their own

Easy.... I find them more entertaining. Sorry, I know that some almost think it's blasphemy to critize SF. It just didn't work for me. The plot is all over the place. The only reason I can sit through it occasionally, is because of Deakins work in it, and the PTS which was great!

At least you admit its on you. Fans tend to act their opinions are objective rather than subjective.

They must feel like they’ve been making this film for half of their lives at this point. And they’re not on to film 8 yet?

I was just about to ask that too mate, have they filmed anything for 8 yet? Or are they starting that later this year?

I don’t know, but you would imagine from the hiatus in filming this one due to covid they must be pretty knackered.
By the looks of the train stuff they’re doing in the north they must still be on 7 as that seems to be part of the sequence with the Norway cliff bike jump.

@fjdinardo, especially considering they're not even filming them back-to-back now. I know Pegg mentioned around December/January that they were going to film into May, but I see that's changed.

Much like the next two John Wick installments, the pandemic seemed to introduce the idea of back-to-back filming while also canceling it. It's a shame, I would've loved to see it happen with both series.

Back to Back filming was used by Peter Jackson with LOTR. It also was done in filming the last Harry Potter book. Plenty of reasons for it besides a pandemic.

Back to the Future 2 and 3 were shot back to back. Superman The Movie and Superman 2 initially were shot back to back/simultaneously until the Salklands did a U turn and got rid of Donner.

The set of the films I first recall in my life time being shot back to back was The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers: Milady's Revenge (1974) both directed by Richard Lester.

The primary reason is often availability of cast, locations and studios.

I think Creasy meant that two series had decided to do back-to-back sequels coincidentally, but the pandemic actually stopped it from happening; not that they were attempting it because of the pandemic.

How is it the MI producers are able to plan two films ahead but the Bond producers can't manage to plan one ahead well enough to have a script settled by the time filming starts. I realize it can be a fluid process, and I do not dispute the wisdom of changing a script even mid-production if called for, but...

Well every production is different, and EON have hit walls that I'm sure the MI franchise would have also suffered with, and vice versa.

Although to be fair to Bond...

MI3 came out the same year as Casino Royale.
Quantum came out in 2008, and MI4 didn't come out till 2011, closely followed by Skyfall in 2012.
Rogue Nation came out the same year as Spectre, with Fallout released in 2018.
No Time to Die comes out this year, with MI7 next year I believe? This means that the Bond series is actually ahead in how much content they've been able to get out in the years they've been "coinciding" with Mission Impossible so they've not been doing that badly without a plan.

Thank you. Very thoughtful and organized. Moving on to another, albeit somewhat related point -- is there an international market among script-writers for people composing and selling action set-pieces ? Because, either the MI writers have their A game waaaay up -- as, apparently, they do -- or they've outbid. The last few MI films have had terrific action sequences, even though I cannot tell the films apart by name and could not recall the villain's plan in each. Just, very simply, the outside-the-building sequence, the hanging-onto-the-plane sequence and that circulating in the large spinning, ummmm, toilet-like facility with but a few moments to get out of the, ummm, spin-cycle or flushing moment was pretty darn good stuff !

And looking at the whole period of the franchises' co-existence, from 1995-2023 there will have been 9 Bond films and 8 M:I films, so about on par.

Well the thing is, if you listen to any interview with Chris MacQuarrie, he always says he doesn’t really have much of a script when they start filming the MI movies and he more or less makes it up as they film them! Genuinely! :D
