Maybe the film will be set in 1981, the year of RAIDERS' release? That would roughly coincide with Ford's age.

I get the feeling Ford will play a younger age. I'd also prefer if the film was set in the sixties than in the eighties.

"A fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise has been in development for quite some time, going through multiple writers and directors. Well, now Lucasfilm will look to get the film in front of cameras next year.

The studio has set an August 2021 production start for the Harrison Ford-led film. The newest Indiana Jones feature will shoot at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The film was originally expected to start filming earlier this year until the coronavirus halted those plans, causing the studio to pump the breaks."

Thinking about it, it's things like this that make me wonder if we'll ever get another Bond film shot at Pinewood, at least for the next decade or so.

Now that Disney has the exclusive right to shoot there for the next 10 years and given their huge upcoming slate of films and Disney+ tv projects, it seems like they will really be taking advantage of it.

I'm more excited that Indy is back in the UK: there was something about making Crystal Skull in the US -and barely even bothering to go on location at all- that felt like Spielberg just wasn't really trying. That Peruvian village that they'd clearly just knocked up on the backlot.. it didn't feel like much effort was going into it.

Will it be the first Indy at Pinewood though? I feel like they were usually at Elstree before..?

Would be cooler if it s 1977, and there is some Star Wars reference, maybe a movie poster.

Here's an in-page informal poll/wager for nothing but the right to later say you were correct: Will Indy lose an eye/suffer a patch-inducing eye injury in the upcoming IJ-5 ? It would have him match up with older Indy in the TV show.

I'll go ahead and say -- Yes.

As for sympathy for poor ol' Indy wearing an eye-patch in any subsequently-set IJ films or tv programs, with the loss of depth perception and physical realities behind the patch, please recall: These stories were inspired by old-timey serial films, among other things. Back then, an eye-patch was a dashing accessory -- despite the unfortunate realities that go with it -- for both heroes and villains. It spoke of adventurous experience, and mystery. Perhaps moreso with pirates, sure, but also in the broader realm of stories.

This change in filming dates makes sense given the updated release date.

KOTCS was quite profitable back in 2008. I can’t understand why Paramount didn’t immediately green light a 5th movie back then.

George Lucas only works for himself. Then Shia got in trouble and kept mouthing off. Harrison Ford called him out on it.

Welp, Harrison Ford will turn 78 this summer. The film is set to be released in 2022, when Ford will be 80. Spielberg isn’t directing it.

I don’t know, but that has “hard pass” written all over it.

I don’t think this is going to be any good.

I can already guess what the pre-release hype will be saying.

“Harrison Ford still has the old Indy magic!” No he doesn’t. He will look and move like a 78 year old.

“We’re using practical effects!” No, it’ll be a CGI fest, like everything else.

“We’re bringing back an iconic character! It’ll be Saleh or Short Round or Lao Chi or the government guys from the first film who didn’t go to Sunday school so Indy had to explain the ark of the covenant to them! It’ll be cool!” No, it will be terrible, and beloved characters will be mutilated beyond recognition.

I'll be amazed if this film is even slightly better than a complete disaster.

Bit random I know, but I was having an experiment to try and produce a Drew Struzan-ish effect, what do you think?

If you could put Indianna Jones and the garden of eden as the title I would easily put that as my phone background

It would seem at this rate that the plot will concern Jones himself being the artifact.

As Temple of Doom was on TV tonight (here's a bit of trivia: it was the first time it's been shown on telly in the UK with commercial breaks!) I did a new bit of Indy art to go with last week's :)

I was once very excited about Indy 5 back when they were talking about doing a follow up to Crystal Skull. Ford could have convincingly donned the whip again in 2011/2012.

But it seems they have left it way too late and now this seems like another "Matrix 4" type scenario where nobody asked for it, and everyone's just kinda perplexed.
