Lately I've been listening to Goldfinger from the Wolf of Wall Street soundtrack; a bit different, fun take on it

International version? Is that different from the normal version?

International Sound Version is a term for a film in which all dialogue is replaced with music and foreign inter-titles. It was a method used by movie studios during the early talkie period (1928-1931) to make sound films for foreign markets. It's more for soundtracks that include dialogue despite this album not entirely filled with so.

“Time to get out“. While driving. Awesome track but I checked the whole time the mirrors and thought someone is chasing me and would try to shoot me soon. Obviously, I drove too fast...

When out Rucking I often listen to CR or QoS, people give me funny looks when I am running up steep inclines whilst listening to certain tracks. lol One thing is for certain a great deal of the Bond music is intense, it gets you in the zone. lol

I really like Franck Pourcel's cover of the Bond theme:

The cold sound of the zither works very well for the melody. Reminds me of The Ipcress File and those Persuaders-style recordings John Barry did in the early seventies (I wish he had applied that kind of instrumentation to the Bond theme in one of his scores, apart from the first Macau scene in TMWTGG).

I adore what Pourcel did with the theme at 1:23. Brilliant!

The only thing I don't like are the rising and falling violins at the very beginning. Otherwise great!

    Very cool and moody.

@mattjoes not heard Pourcel cover before, its definately got that 60's JB vibe like you say Ipcress File in moments.

Spotify is doing their 2020 recap for listeners, and apparently my number one song on Spotify for the whole year is “Try”, off the OHMSS soundtrack... nice. I think it’s because it’s on a couple of my playlists that I listen to frequently.

Great score one of the best in the series IMO.

Agreed. “The Wedding” is up there for me as well on Spotify, another amazing track.

  • “This Never Happened To The Other Fella”

OHMSS had, in my opinion, the 2nd best variation of the James Bond theme (after the original of course)

Geez I hope I didn't just wake up my neighbor. 3:30 in the morning here, just put on Bond Meets The Girls from OHMSS and laughed out loud! John Barry got it so right. I think the OHMSS soundtrack is one of the very best. Other fave tracks: Main Title, Escape From Piz Gloria, Bond in Casino/Bond Meets Theresa, Bond Settles In, and Journey To Blofeld's Hideaway does what reading Fleming would do for that scene, a testament to Barry's talent.

As @R1s1ngs0n mentioned above, I really like Oddjob's Pressing Engagement; that jazzy/horns 60s arrangement incorporating the Bond and Goldfinger themes.

Along with OHMSS, so far I think the best Bond soundtracks include Goldfinger, Thunderball, FYEO (a personal fave) and Casino Royale.

From Thunderball, Dance With Domino/ Bonds Apartment and Electrocution/ The spa (shimmering vibraphone for the underwater effect).

I just thought of something about the FYEO soundtrack and how some people don't like it because of disco influences. Listening to Runaway, the ski and bobsled chase theme, it fits for me not only because it's upbeat but also because it has a Europop influence--after all the scene is in Cortina. ABBA could've done it--that's how music was then. Barry's the best, but that soundtrack really worked for me and I think for the film. Interesting that disco and dance music has been making a comeback in the last year. Cortina is another absolute favorite track as Bond checks into the hotel and goes onto the deck to look at the majestic mountains and gets the message on the mirror. That said, a little upbeat dance-oriented music goes a long way with Bond, because it is a little too happy for his character and his missions.

Casino Royale--Blunt Instrument is good. I don't think I'd listen to the soundtrack on its own, but I think the music is seamlessly well-suited to the film.

There's the old Bond and the new Bond. Checking out, from Skyfall (Thomas Newman), New Digs. It works. Severine, appropriate for that luscious woman. Skyfall has good and "smart" music. Very serviceable--reminds me a bit of music from QoS. But it isn't John Barry--he got closer to Bond.
