And that's not including the rumors that it was originally slated for 2018. It's an utter state altogether.

They made a decision and made it public quickly? Would it have been better to keep the decision secret for a couple of weeks?

The decision should have been made before:

    - Partners launched their marketing. Omega. DHL. Nokia. Bollinger etc. All for nothing.
    - Released the music video trailer
    - Released the podcast
    - Released the first parts of the score

All of which were in the last week. Some were yesterday!

Yes, they should have made the decision before they made the decision. And not promoted the movie at all before that point, and even if all cinemas had been closed they should stick to that decision which they made months before and release it in cinemas.
It’s a tough time: they’ve got more to lose than we have. Give ‘em a break, it’s not the end of the world (yet).

I see no reason to expect things will be better enough by April that the film will have a chance at coming out. In mid-February we'll be gearing up talk about the "third wave" just in time for it to hit in the spring.

The real kicker is -- if a wealth of cinemas go under by the time it's finally safe to release and they end up sending it out on streaming/PVOD anyways, I think that might be the most devastating outcome considering we could have just seen it that way from the beginning.

Those partners won't be happy. Some potential Steven Obanno situations there :)

*Sigh*... I give up with this film. I stayed optimistic the first time we heard NTTD would be delayed. But now, it’s just seeming more and further out of reach. It’s a damn shame.

if there's one silver lining one may offer...

Robert Zemeckis' THE WITCHES was originally moved from this month to 2021....until it returned for a HBO Max U.S. + international theatrical release back close to its original October date.

Things can still move forward (if they're willing to give up global traditional theatrical day and date release). At the very least, Bond is in the can. Actually done. So is WW84. Soul potentially too, given it was gonna debut at Cannes in May (but it's yet to move from November).

Stuff like Dune still in post can only move back really....

@mtm if there was any doubt in EoN’s mind that this film *could* be delayed from November, then they shouldnt have gone through with it. At some point in the last few week there would have been a “is a November release definitely 100% happening” meeting. Clearly that didnt happen,

Hey, at least we already have a decent idea of the more controversial bits. If they had taken us by surprise, I can only imagine how much of a shambles it would've been for those who don't like what they've heard.

Does this mean everything else is to be delayed? Cause I can live without the film until April (damn, that's half a year from now), but I'd appreciate it if they'd release the soundtrack, books and the bloody documentary in the aforementioned dates, as a way to keep the enthusiasm going. Besides, I really don't want to have my money dangling in pre-ordered stuff that long.

Oh well, a single word came to mind, but I can't transcribe it. How much as this film been delayed, in total? Anyone?

This. I would have no problem with this delay if I knew for certain that the soundtrack would still come out next month.

I suspect, given Broccoli’s involvement in that open letter to the US government in support of the industry, she may well have been up for releasing this to help cinemas. But Eon aren’t in charge of release, they just make the movies. It may have been postponed four times but don’t forget that it likely won’t have been the same people postponing it each time.

Omega: Hey EoN are we still on for November, we dont want to waste all this lovely promo stuff we have paid a lot of money for. Can we have confirmation please.

EoN: Er, yes. 100%. Definitely happening, no chance of it suddenly being pulled with zero notice. (Shifty eyes).

Omega: Great, we will launch our marketing. Cant wait to see the film.

    EoN: Er, yeah!

The thing I'm wondering about now is just how long will EON wait? What's the upper limit on these delays? If I knew for sure this was the last of the waits, it'd be fine for me, but I have no such certainty. COVID could very well have spikes and falls like this for quite a while going forward. Working around it's clock might not be the wisest option.

No one is a bigger Bond fan than me. This year has seen me lose a friend, relative and even a neighbour to COVID. I’ve got a 14 year old son currently isolating in his room and I had it in April and continue to suffer some ongoing nerve pain issues. As much as cinema is a pleasurable bit of escapism and a significant global business, we need to keep each other safe. We’re entering a significant second wave here in the UK. Our R number only today has been increased and I’ve just seen the news about the President. So whilst it’s understandable to be frustrated, let’s keep it proportional and let’s all try and stay safe. Love to all my fellow Bond fans across the world and fingers crossed for April 2021.

Really sorry to hear that @NeverSayNeverAgain , hope we get to see this film soon.

That did give me a well-needed laugh. As before, I trust the judgment of the producers reacting to the information available and the current state. Tempus fugit, the calendar days have really been flying by. I'll support the film whenever it's released.

Well at least we now have something new to discuss, especially soundtrack.
Looking forward to Amazon delivering my (pre-paid) CD next month. Yes, sarcasm.

At least we have the list of that soundtrack, even if we might not be able to listen to them for a while :P

Right? The soundtrack, the production book, the Taschen book, the corgi cars, the soundtrack, the other musical themes album,...

If all of that comes out between now and April, that's one thing. But if every single thing is to be delayed again?? That'll be idiotic, IMO.

“No, I wouldn’t bother using all of that millions of pounds worth of promo you’ve paid for as we’re only 75% sure we’ll release the film in November. Yeah, if we do actually release it then you’ll have definitely flushed all that cash down the toilet, I know. But better to be sure you’ve wasted it than risk looking like we’ve had to make a decision which reflects badly on you in no way at all, eh?”

Bear in kind that the idea behind the tie-in campaigns is that they promote the movie. The film company want and need them just as much as the licencees do. It’s a two-way Street: they’re not being exploited.

I think it's just another proof that, while I appreciate what Michael and Barbara did for Bond during their tenure, they just aren't great at producing movies of this size. This delay is just another symptom of their shortcomings in this regard- their inability to create a cohesive plan for the franchise, inability to stick to dates (on top of their inability to learn from their mistakes like giving too much creative control to people like Mark Forster or Lee Tamahori). The way they handled those pandemic delays is just so like them- intially not even acknowledging the fans, seemingly improvising their way through the whole thing, wasting more and more resources just because they can not because it leads to something (just like Spectre explosion and the budget issues as a whole). At this point I really hope that there will be some changes in the future on a producing level- at least allow another voice in the room

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree. They also let Daniel Craig have too much say, while Purvis and Wade weren’t the right people to keep having write. Enough with the artsy directors for awhile, EON! Also, I think Michael G. Wilson might retire after this one, as his health’s not good and his ideas aren’t paying off.

I may be wrong, but I suspect Michael and Barbara don’t distribute the films: the film distribution companies do. So United Artists and Universal will be making these decisions, not necessarily Eon.

    You must be joking.
You know that the Omega, Dhl, and all stuff it's mkt for the film and not for Omega itself right? Omega doesn't need to do mkt before the movie comes out. Actually they would have probably more advantages by making It After the movie Is in theatres. So yes, but actually no

You think they don’t make money from the £8,000 watches they’re selling? Okaaay.

Christ, you read this forum and you’d think what with no-one enjoying the films, plus the hatred of anyone involved in making them, you wonder why anyone here is a Bond fan.

Agreed. This once beloved franchise has become a joke. Bond is NOT a premiere brand anymore. If you don't believe that, you are in denial. The general population simply doesn't care any longer. While we can look at juggernauts like Marvel, Fast and Furious, even DC is reemerging as a big shot box contender, as examples of how to run a movie franchise, Bond meanwhile is stuck in a rut.

I think this is just a touch pessimistic, considering there hasn't been a Bond film for nearly five years, and the last one was very financially successful.
