  • Serra’s score doesn’t get enough props for making GE so unique in a good way.

Yes, I even like “Ladies First”, sue me!
    +1

While I'm not a huge fan of his romantic tracks, I think the cold percussion and synths really gave the movie's score a sense of tension missing from the later scores until CR/QOS.

I've always loved the Goldeneye GB sequence. I think Serra's score is amazing and would've been extremely captivating at the time given what came before.

I still think it was the best variation of the theme used for the Brosnan Gunbarrel. Largely because its relatively cold and understated qualities worked well with the relatively cold and understated CGI Gunbarrel.

Yeah, I think Forster wanted to end CR's story, by putting the Gunbarrel at the end of QoS.

Yes, supposedly. The film ending with the traditional GB sequence demonstrates that Bond has come full circle or something like that. However, I feel that Bond became Bond at the end of CR when he introduces himself in signature style. The GB sequence at the end of QOS is evident of how little thought went into the film, IMO. It has always irritated me that following CR we never got a traditional GB sequence at the beginning of each entry. I do feel that we will get a conventional opening with a GB sequence leading straight into the PTS in NTTD.

I wonder if CJF will use the following as the GB sequence:

    no-time-die-trailer.jpg?w=1600&h=1600&q=88&f=abe5017b5392015d87e9042452338e29

I personally don't think he will as this scene appears to be at the end of NTTD.

It Daniel Craig there no double for gun barrels anymore

Holy cow! You people should come to the statistics thread and do "where does the gunbarrel sway to".

I love this version of the gunbarrel. It takes the slickness of the Kleinman/Brosnan era and mixed it with the vintage Binder design.

If this individual made this on their computer, just imagine how awesome this concept could be if done by a professional visual effects company.

Also, as discussed, we know the sequence in the trailer is merely an easter egg for fans. Much like the 'gunbarrel' in TLD. It'll just be a cool little easter egg. Though untraditional, it may be my favourite stance from Daniel Craig.....currently all his gunbarrels haven't lived up to CR.

Who is Bond shooting at here?!? He's clearly drawing fire. Maybe Primo?

If the film follows the context implied by the Fukunaga behind the scenes clip, he's shooting at Malek.

But I guess it's just a promotional shot. I dont think it will be in the film.

I never did understand what MK12 were thinking when they designed the Gunbarrel for QoS...maybei it was an attempt to Create something new like Kleinman did with CR's Gunbarrel. But it was just below par. I think Kleinman's Gunbarrel in SF was a better representation of what MK12 were trying to do.

I would take MK12 titles for QOS over SF and SP any day, as Kleinman, for me, has overcooked them, and he needs to do something fresh and exciting for NTTD ( especially as the theme song is so trite and dour, imo!) for me to want him continue in the role of titles designer!

Yeah, Kleinman would definitely up the ante. It's been years since a Bond film came out, so it means fresh ideas from his path....he might not necessarily go bombastic, he could be minimalistic in his approach, but still very innovative....maybe something in line with GE & CR. And considering the title, maybe Clocks or Watches might be shown in some sort of surrealistic way.

The soundtrack completely embodies the context of the film, IMO. I love how Serra weaved the classic Bond melody into this track with the drums. Do we know if there's an Eric Serra appreciation topic on this forum? There should be!

All Craig's GB sequences have been a let down with the exception of Casino Royale. I mean he didn't even do up his blazer in Skyfall and you can see him holding the PPK in Spectre. Sloppy. I never liked the walkoff at the end of Quantum of Solace's GB either.

They fixed Craig's gun wielding hand in this edited version with the FYEO soundtrack.

I think CJF is going to hopefully exceed our expectations with the GB of NTTD. I'd a track with more guitar too.

Now that the film is delayed, they've got extra time to make sure the gun barrel is placed correctly. ;)

Their titles are fine, but they feel just a bit lacking in inspiration for me- they're a bit 'design by committee'. It's all pretty ordinary stuff, until they get to their zoetrope of women, which is just plain bizarre. Kleinman's stuff just always feels fresher to me.

So based on this, it seems like it's at the beginning again, but likely to be pretty much identical to Spectre's- with the fanfare played over black again rather than over the white dots.

    Sounds nice though!

It’s at the beginning, so that’s good. But the theme needs more.... oomph.

Can it get more oomph than that?

I am disappointed. Not gutted disappointment but underwhelmed.
I can't decide if I think it sucks or not. I'll have to see the scene played out.
However, I'm leaning towards the probability the gunbarrel will overall disappoint in true Craig era tradition.

What more could they have chucked at it? Which one had more oomph in your opinion? You really think it couldn't have less, or are you being silly?

I'm comparing it to White Knight and it's almost identical:

If it'll play out similar to SP's then I'm not going to be terribly impressed. At least it's at the beginning, though, that's always a start.

Yes it does seem that it will; it's too long not to.

Ok ok, there is no need to get upset. Calm down. Given the length of time since the last film, and that this is likely Craig’s last, I just think it lacks something, that’s all.

Sigh, the old 'don't get upset' thing. I just think hyperbole like 'it can't be any worse' is a bit silly, that's all.

I think it sounds like your expectations for this movie might be unrealistically high if you're expecting it to be super incredible on all levels because it's his last. You'll enjoy it more if you don't expect the moon.

It's good...Because it's the Bond theme...it doesn't sound “new“ enough to stand out. If you would have asked me if this track was from an older film I wouldn't have been sure. Not bad at all (the guitar brings in some “energy“). I will judge it and the rest of the score after seeing the movie. I'm still very optimistic.

Listened to it again............I'm digging the guitar, reminds me of FYEO.
I really do hope the dot opens this time.

I'm on board with this gunbarrel music.

It’ll no doubt be a better film for Craig than all the other unceremonious exits for his predecessors.

Funnily enough, I played Zimmer's gunbarrel music over Spectre's just out of instinct. Eh, not much of a fan of the new one to tbh. I don't understand why they have to play it so fast these days but whatever.

Suggestion: if you're listening to the NTTD gunbarrel on YouTube, reduce the playback speed to 0.75 *thumbs up*

Ok, then get upset. It sounds a bit generic, considering.

Me? My expectations are too high? You are joking, right? I suppose that is better than being accused of complaining for the sake of complaining, given my feelings on the Craig era.

Is Smythe still salty over Craig getting praised over Dalton after all these years?

The only thing I didn't like about Spectre's gunbarrel was the text, 'the dead are alive' showing up, so as long as there's nothing like that in there, I'll be happy :)

How did this get released? Did the soundtrack leak already?
