I understand that @Birdleson, what I don't understand is the terminology. Casino Royale is mostly a faithful adaption of Fleming's original work (which is as far as you can get from fanfiction), while the plot of the Moonraker film bears no resemblance to said work other than the names Hugo Drax and well, Moonraker. To be clear, I have a lot of fun with the camp of the latter film.

TWINE has dropped off a cliff in your rankings lately. I'm also surprised to see TND now in your top ten considering it was bottom of the barrel in your rankings before.

Your entire ranking has shifted quite a bit over the past few months.

You're absolutely right, my friend. I've revisited most entries during lockdown period. The top 4 has remained more or less the same, the rest has changed somewhat.

TND skyrocketed to 5th spot, because it was a very pleasant re-watch. I liked the news framing scheme and found it very relevant, even more so 20 years later.

Still though, even towards the bottom you see I like practically every entry, except maybe for the bottom 2. TWINE, for instance, is 19th and I'd still give it an 8/10.

I haven't had any major changes to my ranking in years. Everytime I watch the films I expect there to be some revelation... but that never seems to be the case. Will be interesting to see how your current ranking holds up over multiple viewing.

    Very nice @Herr_Stockmann!

We share our top 2, as well as a few other favourites.
  • @Mathis1 @GoldenGun Very nice from both of you! Let's say that my fourth, fifth and sixth are quite interchangeable in my ranking, depending on my mood. Skyfall seems better to me than TLD but as I have a preference for Dalton, I favor his film.

Next week my Bond film ranking tournament thread comes to an end and a list will be presented, God willing. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the average ranking from this thread if @w2bond is still around and keeps track.

A full six films have the same spots as in my own ranking. Sounds outstanding to me, but perhaps this is quite normal, as it is a form of community consensus. There are some big differences as well.

Get ready for a few surprises, even if most of the list is pretty predictable, give or take a few spots.

    21 DAF
    22 AVTAK
    23 TWINE
    24 DAD
    25 NSNA

It's a pretty good list. 9/10 of the Top 10 are in my Top 10 (for me, QOS would replace OP). I do wish AVTAK and TMWTGG in particular got a little more love, but I can't complain too much. It's a solid order.

@Thunderfinger Only just saw this, will update asap. The only good thing about the NTTD delay is more data. Are you able to separate your ties at all? In this situation I fill them in the order you listed (ie 4 DN, 5 TSWLM) - it won't make much difference to the overall stats at this point in time so it's fine if you can't decide. Also: We share 7 films in the top 10

This isn t mine, it is the common consensus as decided by everyone interested in a tournament thread. The ties are just listed chronologically. I tought it would be interesting to compare to the avarage here.

Oh sorry! I'm not at home right now but looking at the list it looks pretty normal, except for some odd placements 6-12th (eg OP is really high). The placement of DN, OP, TB and TLD is interesting because they are viewed in higher regarding among the fandom

As I said in my previous post you can really see the DN, OP and QOS love on the forums. And it's interesting that however we choose to rank the films (personal, SORTA, tournament), it ends up being similar

I do like some things about it, but it's a bit of the antithesis of the two films surrounding it in my ranking. While DAD and CR67 are obvious disasters, they're so over the top that I can enjoy them on a guilty pleasure kind of level. FYEO is the complete opposite, commits no sins as horrid as the other two, but also never really stands out in a positive way either. It's a bit dull in my opinion. Sorry mate ;)

You know you and i share same top 3, but am a bit shocked you have FYEO wedged between CR 67 and DAD!
Did you always dislike it? Have to say, for me, theres a lot to enjoy it! Doesn't deserve to be alongside the disaster that is DAD! (Especially below it😳)

Fair enough! It has tons more for me to enjoy than the other two. Love the pts, Bond visiting Teresa grave, the helicopter action is great, love the titles (and the song is quite good!) Great opening scene of the sinking of the trawler/Spyship, the citroen chase was well choreographed by Reny Julienne and his team, love the Greek setting, Colombo is a terrific character, as is Melina, the ski set piece is excellent, raid on the warehouse and Locques death, keel hauling sequence from the novel LALD, is a highlight, and the finale is well staged. Oh and i always think the gambling scene is well shot by Alan Hume, has the right dark and smoky atmosphere that you would expect in such a scene! My last viewing of this was really enjoyable! There are better Bonds, but in Rogers era, this scores high!

    +1

It may change a lot soon (never know), but over the last weeks FYEO has always been in my Top 5.
