I’m definitely open minded to Billie Eilish, but think a woman would suit Craig’s Bond better than a girl.

@Pierce2Daniel comments on things he hasn't a clue about regularly, nothing new there.

FYI, wasn't I the one who said that Billie Eilish was doing the theme based off my research in December? Numerous people then said the same thing about me.....so this is your helpful reminder that I'm usually right.

But it's undeniable that Garbage aren't a big deal now. They had albums in 1995 and 1998 that chartered highly in 1995 and 1998. Their last album came out in 2016 did noticeably poorer.

Also, makes sense that Eilish would perform the song at the Brits since it'll likely need to come out around 4-6 weeks before the film come out. Exciting!

It's certainly going to be interesting to see what Eilish wears to the premiere - especially if the Queen is there. I'm kinda into it. Shake up the established order and introduce some anarchy.

What’s hot and what’s not is completely unrelated to quality and talent.
The selection of Eilish is a calculated business decision that is motivated more by the desire for commercial success than it is any other quality.

IMHO, the choice of artist goes beyond the actual song and links to the core "brand values" of Bond. You don't need to be a marketing expert or a Bond "geek" to know that Bond is a "class act". His clothes, his behavoir, his drink, his cars, his food etc etc. So, as Bond is a class act, we have seen several class acts perform Bond. Some have had more class than others and I think people judge this "fit"in addition to the song. On this basis, BE is as far away from Bond's World as you could imagine (where as you can imagine Ms Bassey sitting at the Poker table in CR - actually, that would have been fun but I digress). The glamour, elitism and escapism of Bond are surely key aspects of his World. So you either contribute towards the brand or you weaken it.

If you type in her name into google and click on images, the overall feeling is of complete misery. It's as they we're in the 80s and chose The Cure. And that's another Bond brand value. A little bit of fun, a pun, a nod and a wink. Literally - Joie de vivre.

Please take this with a pinch of salt

A good friend of mine, who works for a production company, he has just text me about Billie Eilish's upcoming performance at the Brit awards. He's told that on the setlist she is going to be performing halfway through the show and on the production run down list next to her name it's got "NTTD promotion performance"

So she may perform the song on the Brit awards, which is airing on ITV 18 February

Amazing news if true, thanks a lot mate! The timing only makes sense. WotW was released 31 days before the première of Spectre. February 18th is 44 days before NTTD's.

Just for the record the song has been already recorded.

FYI you have an habit of guessing and speculating every single contender either it's director/singer/composer or any other cast or crew doesn't mean you are always right. When you start guessing every single one of them surely one would be selected and you are ready to take credit for it. There are others on this site @peter @ColonelSun @antovolk who doesn't brag about what news they provide every now and then. They are mature enough to understand there isn't any point in that. We all are fans here and i do enjoy your posts sometime.

Damn I missed the fireworks, but I'll just say this. I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing up Eilish's demonic art. Yes there have been artists who have got a Bond gig that were questionably down that road. It doesn't make it right and it shows how the industry thrives on rifts between parents/elders and their youth. "Oh you don't like it? You must be an out of touch boomer."

I too would prefer someone classier, but apparently the folks in charge of these "art" industries beg to differ and I have to accept that. We'll see what Eilish brings to the table, but for the first time since Madonna, I'm not looking forward to hearing the outcome.
Thank you!! That’s absolutely what the industry thrives on - causing a rift between parents and kids. “We know the parents won’t like it and we’re cool with that. In fact we’d be concerned if the parents and kids both liked it”. When was the last time you saw a show on TV that presented parents in a positive light? Parents are always presented as stupid boobs, the butts of jokes. The kids know everything, parents know nothing. But of course it’s not the media’s fault. It’s the parents’ fault if the kids are growing up with a screwed up mentality and lack of respect for their parents. Gimme a break!

With respect for your opinion (which is perfectly valid, of course), but I have to disagree here. Sure, Billie Eilish doesn't look very glamorous, as the Bond Girls of yesteryear. Nor does her sound evoke Shirley Bassey. And I understand that for some Bond fans, this might be a shock. Eilish doesn't ooze 'class' or 'sex' or even 'cocktail dress'.

But to me, that is (largely) irrelevant. k.d. Lang wasn't your typical Bond singer either. To the MGM marketing team, she was so far removed from the brand they wanted and got another singer. But while Sheryl Crow fits that Bond brand more, I find her title song for TND inferior to Surrender. When you watch the video clip for You Know My Name, does Chris Cornell ooze 'Bond'? No, not at all. But YKMN works within the context of Casino Royale.

Sure, there have been some misses. I wouldn't associate Jack White with the Bond style, and the song he and Alicia Keys sang doesn't really scream Bond to me. Or even 'a good song'. And sure, having a singer that is more glamorous seems a safe bet. Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Adele, even Joss Stone's song for Blood Stone is more in line with the brand than Billie Eilish.

But I like the risk they're taking. NTTD is hip and young and fresh. Cary Fukunaga isn't your typical Bond director. Billie Eilish isn't your typical Bond singer. Lashana Lynch isn't your typical Bond Girl.
But Daniel Craig wasn't your typical Bond either when Casino Royale came out. That film wasn't your typical Bond film. And it seems they're going back to that - to the beginnings of this Bond. And I love it.

Yes, but blaming Lucifer for suicide rates when the world is literally going on fire due to climate changes is kinda stupid.

As a US resident, I honestly never knew who Garbage even was. I think I had heard "When I Grow Up" in a few odd placed like Adam Sandler's BIG DADDY, but it wasn't until many years later that I learned it was the same band that did TWINE. I certainly wasn't even aware of the existence of anything else they put out years after.

Were they a much bigger deal in the UK or something?

If people agree I'd like to open a new thread so we can discuss this because I think it's interesting to understand whether Bond fans knew groups/artists before they did a Bond song. I honestly didn't know most of Bond song performers before I became a Bond fan.

Well I have to say congratulations to MI6HQ first of all on the scoop of correctly predicting and reporting the Bond song performer for NTTD. Much to the shock and disgust of my step kids to the reality of me never hearing of this person before. :))

That makes two of us. In terms of not having heard of her prior to the first rumours surfacing here. Not kids- or step-kids-wise. And being in my very late 40's,

:)) I know, I turn 46 this year and I have to say I have no idea what to expect? I am tired of ballads and was hoping for something along the lines of CR, LALD, AVTAK...…..etc? But seeing as their is a powerful love story through this film? I cannot see that being the case?

Haha!! Thanks for the good laugh, buddy. So you’re one of those. The end is near. We won’t make it till next year because another wildfire lit up California and another hurricane hit Florida. Straight out of Bernie Sanders’ playbook. News flash - there’s always been wildfires in CA and there’s always been hurricanes in FL! Yet no one screamed the sky is falling over these “calamities” just 20 years ago. It’s a modern fad to ignore all other problems and focus on “climate change”. Remember how Al Gore promoted Global Warming until this “truth” became “inconvenient” so they changed it to “climate change”? Don’t worry, in another year or two they’ll think of something else. Maybe turn off the TV and go outside and smell the fresh air instead of listening to the fear mongers whose only goal is to make a buck.

@ringfire211 I haven't watched TV in over 10 years. But I guess you like to make assumptions because that makes your arguments much easier.

That's the only way you seem to talk - clearly you are too stupid to use logic. Then again I'm arguing with someone who believes in Lucifer.

I also love how you purposefully ignored every single argument of mine and always changed subject or used logical fallacies to win your arguments. That also proves how wrong and stupid you are.
Climate change is a part of Lucifer s plan, and I hope the theme song endorses it.

Always and more frequent are two different things, and there’s solid evidence that extreme climate conditions/events are increasing.

Global Warming and Climate Change have two different definitions so they’re not interchangeable:

Global warming: the increase in Earth’s average surface temperature due to rising levels of greenhouse gases.

Climate change: a long-term change in the Earth’s climate, or of a region on Earth.
