Would anyone say there is a chance the first teaser trailer will not be released on 19th December the latest (when Star Wars 9 premieres)? If so, please speak up!

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks, because no one knows anything. Which is actually awesome.

I think there is a huge chance of that @PanchitoPistoles ...but that's not based on anything conclusive. I just think this Empire article is possibly setting up a window of opportunity, and with multiple reports of a teaser trailer existing, I believe it'll be in our laps soon, but like @Univex said above no one knows anything conclusive :) Who knows we might get one tomorrow for all we know? It is customery for trailers to prefer early week releases I believe.

Didn't the Spectre teaser release when filming was still ongoing?

Carver was a "normal" "realistic" and nonthreatening looking villain. Greene was not the first. I'm quite thankful Forster only directed one film.

Cool! So Malek will have an accent in the film.

I think that's so old-fashioned and a little bit racist to let him speak with an accent.
He can be a character of russian descent without any accent, when speaking english.

I mean: does Barack Obama speak with a swahili accent, because of his kenyan roots and his name?

It’s not in the least bit “ racist”; this cheapens the meaning of the word .

My favourite Bond film, which happens to be my favourite film of all time as well, has Scottish, German, Polish, French and Dutch actors doing a Russian accent. Fantastically racist that no-one cared about it! :)) :)>-

Fan kudos to you, hook line and sinker, and a bunch of the PP show tickets sold to the gullible.

That out of my system now, I can tell you that I'd like a trailer soon too, but as a fellow Bond fan, I must tell you that no one knows anything. And most of us really like that. We're suckers for surprises. What we don't like is non-surprises, btw, but that should come as a no-surprise to you.

Cheers, PP, keep safe, be happy. And welcome to the waiting game.

That's sadly, and dangerously very true.

The notion of Safin being a Russian character with Russia being part of the movie doesn’t automatically mean they‘re using ideas from the Hodge/Boyle script.

You are possibly correct. I think filming wrapped in May 2012 and there was a teaser that same month.

Eliminating "foreign" accents. Only for "bad" guys. Or for most all characters too. Gets complicated. Becomes its own discrimination.

Safin. Good name. Not Irish, huh, reminds me of Taffin.

Greene, I really enjoyed his slimy character. The Kermit the Frog expressions. His voice and dialogue. Eating the apple while "negotiating" with Medrano and the Colonel. The absence of Q & Moneypenny from Casino Royale then Quantum of Solace was a signal to me that the formula would be rebuilt over time. A shifting focus. So I wasn't automatically expecting the global plot, the warrior henchman, the assault on the villain's lair straight up and every time. Like all the Craig Bond films, there's A LOT to relish in Quantum of Solace.

I am expecting Malik's character to be pretty unique and interesting.

Forster talked about how he wanted a more realistic bad guy, no gimmicks or physical deformities. Just a slimy businessman type. But it didn't work (is anyone's favourite Bond villain Dominic Green?) and straight after that we were thankfully back to more Flemingesque colourful, larger than life, usually deformed types. Which I'm glad about personally. Know it gets a lot of love on here but I really do think QoS in general was a massive misstep. Glad they changed course.
Agree, re: Greene. A forgettable villain and was never truly menacing.
I get the impression that some people don´t like QoS too much. I cannot agree, I think it´s a fantastic Bond film. While some elements are no suitable template for future films (I don´t think anyone had in mind to edit all coming Bond films in the same way, even though I´m happy with the editing), but there´s a sense of exhilarating strangeness in some places in the film that future films shouldn´t ignore. And Greene fits right in, I find him very memorable. To confine a Bond villain to being menacing is rather shortminded IMO.
Of course not every Bond villain should be like Greene, but not every Bond villain should be like Blofeld or Goldfinger either. Having every villain disfigured is neither interesting nor especially in Fleming´s spirit.

Wether it´s racist or not to let a villain speak with a russian accent depends on the execution I would say. Fleming had a fantastic way of implementing cliches for dramatical purposes. In other writers´ hands I would probably find them outdated or racist, but Fleming manages to paint pictures with beautiful contrasts with them. Don´t see why that shouldn´t be possible in a contemporary film.

What a lovely, lovely way to put it. Couldn't agree more, @boldfinger.
  • Why does everyone keep mentioning Rami is Dr. No? I am so sick of this rumor spreading like the disease it is.

Also, Greene is super slimy and well played. He certainly beats other villains, imo.

Greene and malek won’t be alike if I had to guess

I think the closest thing will be Silva but without the humor aspect.

Silva was probably Craig’s best villian imo.

Will oberhauser be dealt with in the finale ?

He's in prison and thus not the main villain.

Is that confirmed or more speculation? :)

Well, I thought that I read on these forums that someone was going to visit him in prison to get help or something?

    :-?

I think, in the photos from the Matera shooting we can see Waltz falling down over a low wall? Or my eyesight is really fading.

Probably not, but the German News magazine DER SPIEGEL did an interview with Danny Boyle on the release of his film YESTERDAY, and they ask him about his departure from Bond, and he said, the main reason for him leaving was, that MGW and BB insisted to bring on a new writer to overhaul Hodge's script. And when they ask him about the Bond film he had in mind, he refused to answer, saying that though he wasn't sworn to msecerecy by EON, he does not want to talök about while Cary Fukunaga was doing Bond 25, and he said "maybe they even might use bits of the script", and that they would be allowed to do so, as they had bought the script and that it belongs to EON right now, only that they would have to credit Hodge either in the opening or in the end credits.

I'll take your point that the villain doesn't necessarily have to be menacing or have a gimmick. But I still have to disagree that there's anything memorable about him. I find the character and his monologues and sudden outbursts sort of comical and not in a good way. I'm glad it worked for other people, but Bardem as Silva was a huge stepup for me.

Krazy Kajeevie thinks that the "Safin" name could be a cover similar to "oberhauser" in SP. Apparently including Jamaica and the character of Dr No could be a way to bring it full circle. Thats why they are hiding his appearance in the film as much as possible, and why he only just gets a name now, opposed to the rest of the cast.

Anyone called Krazy Kajeevie is surely a dubious source. I’ve seen this guy on Facebook and YouTube and frankly, he knows no more than you or I. Just fan speculation.
However in this case, the writings in the name.

Does make sense, right? His name wasn't announced with the rest of the cast, and then its just "Safin" kinda like Naomi was just "Eve" back in 2012. Add to this the fact we never even seen photos of him anywhere on location, or in studio. And remember that Craig got heated with Boyle over who should play the villainous character.

If SPECTRE is still going after Blofeld has been captured it wouldn't be surprise me if Dr No has taken over. Then Bond or Madeline could interogate Blofeld in order to find out where he is operating or something like that.

I have no problem with the lack of publicity. My only worry is that Craig doesn't leave on a high note. Meaning that his tenure has been one long turn to the dark side, fighting inner demons and so forth, always looking for a way to retire.

Back in the days almost every kid wanted to be Bond. Cool gadgets, lots of women, glamorous - the world at his feet. Not much of that over the last 13 years. Guess it's the sign of the times that every hero has to have an inner struggle going on, so we are suppose to be feel sorry for the character instead.

For Bond 26...can we please have James Bond back?

    Lots of women? check
Glamorous? check, unless a casino & a beautiful gigantic eye don't count
Cool gadgets? more or less check

The only thing I agree on is that they should have never made Blofeld his "foster brother".

Foster Bros. the single worst idea in the entire series! The one thing that will bog down NTTD.

I wished the Blofeld and Bond had no relationship pre-Spectre and Blofeld’s only issue with Bond is that he derailed several of Spectre’s operations.

He did but indeed, it was a bad idea.

But, I hope that one of the many twists that are apparently happening will be that Blofeld lied about it.

Yeah, I keep hoping for that. Something revealed in his psychological profile perhaps, where he’s a nut who also lies.

I agree with what someone else said that the brother angle is the worst thing ever done in the entire Bond series.
    That was me.

Cool! So Malek will have an accent in the film.

I don't know why, but I see him with some crazy hair akin to MAX ZORIN.

AVTAK was Cary's first Bond film, so…

If that is the case I'm amazed he became a Bond fan.

So Empire magazine has now joined the ranks of the tabloid bull. There winter preview of which there is only one still from NTTD is full of glaring errors about the road up to the film.

They incorrectly state that SPECTRE was supposed to be Craig’s last (of a four picture deal), anyone paying attention knows Craig actually signed on for 3 when Skyfall was in production. With an opt out clause.

It then goes in to suggest that a search for a new Bond started. (It didn’t Craig just wanted time to recharge and have family time and think).

They go on to say that’s it’s “rumoured to have the biggest explosion in cinema history”. Sorry but are people’s memory’s non existent SPECTRE already had the largest explosion in cinema history, there was a whole production video about it and a lot of back patting from Sam Mendes and crew. There has been literally NOTING to suggest this film will have an even bigger explosion in any of the stuff that’s leaked out. I’m sorry Chris Hewitt but this fluff piece of so called “journalism” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. The only thing if merit was the name Safin being revealed and the photo.
