Did the Tenet teaser create any buzz at all? Have hardly seen any talk about it before and since.

That's a good point that is easily overlooked by some.
No real info is known, besides a very brief outline of what it could be.
No behind the scenes filming, no stills, no character names or details.
If we believed everything we read, then Tenet is looking like it's going to be Nolan's first major flop.
But then, thankfully we don't believe everything we read.

Is it possible that some film makers, studios and directors are happy to create intrigue, excitement and buzz without resorting to mass hysteria of select fans and moviegoers.
Maybe some of them are going with a 'less is more' attitude.

It will be interesting to see how this "approach" turns out. Maybe they'll go heavy on the marketing of Tenet closer to the theatrical release.

Yes seems to be a reaction against over promotion. But teasers can still just be teasers. They don't have to give much away.

Also entirely possible that they want to start in earnest after all the Xmas films are out of the way.

Just heard AGAIN that the teaser is being linked to Star Wars on 19th December.

I’d be interested to know how many people on here got into Bond as kids because it was ‘aimed’ at them...

That's a very good question. I was born in '65 and quickly knew all about Bond from my parents and grandparents. The first Bond I saw was OHMSS, at Butlins holiday camp, when I was just over 5 and I remember the experience to this day. I know I was very aware Bond was for "grown ups", which only made the allure even more appealing. Once I saw OHMSS (still my fav Bond film, followed by FRWL and CR) I was hooked and I saw DAF as soon as it came out and then LALD, and then my grandparents took me, everyday for a week, to a local daily Bond double bill (DN + FRWL, TB + YOLT, GF + OHMSS, DAF + LALD). By the end of the week I'd seen every Bond film on the big screen and TMWTGG was just about to be released. I was still only 9 years old. So I think kids today still like to see films and characters which are aimed more towards adult audiences, and perhaps that's why Bond has endured for over 50 + years (an amazing accomplishment). How much longer it will last, who knows, but the films are still drawing huge audiences - older, middle-aged, 20's and younger - world wide.

Anyway, leaving behind all those fond childhood memories, back to NTTD thread.

I got into Bond because the kid next door went to see Moonraker when it premiered, and went total apeshit about it. When FYEO premiered every boy on the block was a Bond fan. Word-of-mouth and lobbycards at the local theatre were pretty much enough.

Honestly, I am more excited to see the next 'On Set' video than I am a trailer.

Dunno bout that. One of my big musings is what this film's gonna look like. There's (just about) an entire Linus Sandgren-shot Bond film in the can as of this week, and I can't wait to see how it vibes onscreen.

    Hey, Everyone. Long-time lurker. Sometimes-poster.

I wonder if they’re concentrating the marketing campaign around some major event, like the Super Bowl. A teaser in December, then a minute (or two) Super Bowl spot on February 7th 2020 would be cool.

I agree. There’s this notion that the Bond films don’t appeal to kids or a ‘younger’ audience these days, which I simply don’t think is true.

This is certainly a different world to the eras most of us grew up in, and there are other options out there these days that no doubt sate a specifically younger demographic, but Bond’s pulling power remains strong - particularly here in the UK.

It’s worth noting that Skyfall and Spectre are still second and third highest grossing films of all time at the UK box office, respectively, ahead of End Game, no less. You don’t do those figures without appealing to a broad cinema-going audience.

I think that’s it. Good word of mouth, a good theme tune even... there’s enough lustre around Bond to draw people in beyond that.

I saw the Tenet teaser in the theater and it is literally just a bunch of words flying at the screen, with the typical Hans Zimmer "Inception"-style music in the background. It tells you absolutely nothing. I don't think it created a single degree of hype among anyone who saw it. I saw it with three other friends and it has never come up in conversation since.

Wasn't the new Star Wars trailer supposed to come out today according to the insider who said the teaser for NTTD would be attached to Episode IX?

Personally deep down inside, I actually like that they keep me in the dark. It will be a nice change for me, not knowing what to expect. So I do hope that the trailers aren't going to reveal too much. I don't have enough selfcontrol to not watch them.

Regarding the fanbase: Maybe it's just where I come from, but teenagers here of today are more into Marvel and Netflix than Bond. It's not like the pre 90's where Bond didn't have that same kind of competetion. I wonder how many on this forum are below the age of 25? And what the state of the "lifelong fanbase" is in 20 or 30 years, when people who grew up on Moore slowly pass away.

That's all I want. I'm not in the "Hey, where's the f***** trailer"-camp, but just an occasional still or clapperboardpic would be fine.

Me and few others indeed. In Italy youngsters don't seem to care about Bond at all, I've watched four Bond movies at the theatre and besides me and my cousin everyone was at least 30/40 year old or much older. But I was told in this thread (or another one, I'm not sure) in the last few weeks that in the UK many teenagers are Bond fans, so who knows.

Interesting. Kids have always been an important market for Bond so wonder whether this is something EON consider. The Craig films have been quite dark and relatively joyless affairs.

    I'm 29 BTW, so I'm out of your audience report @Walecs :D

Be sure to show yourself at the NTTD premiere, then ;)

Absolutely @RC7, but they certainly don't have a younger and generally an *active fanbase* the way even Star Wars has, and EON have done very little to try and cultivate that for whatever reason...again, why no presence at the likes of San Diego Comic Con?

Bond is driven a lot by the word of mouth/casually knowing of it as a cultural staple and maybe that's enough, particularly in the UK.

@Walecs yup, it's dropping tonight on ESPN, as announced by Disney on Saturday, just like that insider said ;)

As a kid of 13 watching the very adult "Goldfinger" at the Chinese theater in Hollywood I became an instant life long fan. It's been amazing looking forward to each Bond film (some delivered, some did not) since then and looking forward to NTTD.

Yes, because you are such an expert and you know better than Eon and MGM etc. Words fail me with regards to you and your "insightful" posts.

Their is 5 1/2 months till the movie is released.
Publicity is already there with almost daily newspaper articles..
The major push for publicity will be in the new year.
    Why are people panicking?
Yes will be nice for a teaser soon...but no need to panic..

Why would they do that when the majority of the most vociferous ‘fans’ are simply waiting to throw it back in their faces? Nah, I’m good. There’s a new Bond film out in just under 6 months. That’s enough for me. Anything else is a bonus.
I mean, if the fanbase being "ungrateful" impacts their decision making they might as well not release anything at all until the movie (if that).

Thankfully, EON doesn't think like that.

I think Barry007 may well have it right? Teaser with Star Wars and then early next year a final trailer, only time will tell as we have all experienced!
